It's really hard to explain why, but I genuinely enjoy this series. Even though I may never apply these survival skills any time soon, every episode delivers educational nature content in such an atmospheric way. Almost feels like I'm actually out there in the wild, adventuring and being guided by Chad as I discover more about the Earth. It's a very refreshing feeling.

Fantastic video as always Chad! Such an inspiring channel you’ve created over the fast few years! I appreciate you and all your hard work!! Keep it up brother!
I just came across your channel and I am very impressed with you and your films. I find it very fascinating and interesting how you build your life there on site using only your hands, your mind and what you find in nature. But what fascinates me even more is the care, inner calm and mindfulness with which you do everything. That impresses me a lot and is almost more interesting to me to see than how you master life in nature.
Do you have any sotol growing nearby? The heart is carb dense and the seeds are a superior source for bread flour. Plus, the stalk can be used for building material.

Not an artesian spring but a seep, or tank ... very nice discovery. Glad for the details on the Adobe, my youngest has tried from time to time but I don't think bark or grass was included.
Yeah, it's a seep, and it only has water when there's been enough rainfall. Making adobe bricks depends a lot on the type of soil. It must contain a good amount of clay. Soft topsoil won't work.
Yess!!! I see dense clay. Perhaps once you go deeper we will get to see another clay pot making video. Words cannot describe my excitement! You know what would be pretty cool. A fermentation pot. Great idea! Yeah, I've started making some pottery from the clay here. It's turning out good. I have done a lot of fermentation in the past but only with glass and clay jars. The jar in the photo you sent is a great way. I'm sure I could make one of those. Eventually I'll have to do this.

Congrats, that is a good find. it is very common to find those with stagnant water. very hard to truly enjoy without some cleaning. something you can do is dig out the sediment a bit to get a tab bit more depth. Once you have maybe 3-4 inches depth with a foot to 8" diameter, you can stabilize with a bit of white ash. roughly a tablespoon to 1k Gals. The potassium from the ash helps to change the PH in the water to deal with the microbial issues. Followed by a sand filter basket to remove some of the bigger stuff. remember if you don't see plant life enjoying it, there is a reason. The Hopi were known to plant a symbiotic plant into the middle of that bowl to help clean and as a sign if the water went bad. something to think about and look into. Loving the New series, keep up the great work!
It crosses my mind Chad, that if you built the new hut above the clay pit you'd have a basement storage area (or wine cellar lol), with the addition of a floor of sorts.
Have you found any triops after the rain storms? Natives use to build pools throughout the desert with limestone to raise them as a source of protein. Not much is known about their practice. But, it was theorized that they pulverized them and created a kind of "mash" or "paste" and baked them.
Keeping busy distracts the mind from thoughts of loneliness etc. When I was thruhiking the AT, life gets simple ... there's a routine every day that doesn't change much. It allowed my mind to settle from many of the distractions found in society. The mental challenges I experience daily in society faded away as my mind learned to simply let go of them in order to reserve energy for other tasks. Additionally, learning to quiet the mind allowed me to focus on the task in front of me which was not to get hurt with every step I took.
