Primitive Cooking and Finding Clay (episode 03)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- I continue hiking and exploring this beautiful wilderness as the search for a location to establish a new settlement continues. My primitive tools have been useful for basic necessities and I’ve found several good natural resources along the way. Today in this video I make another simple shelter and then find some wild food to cook. As I explore more of the area I even find clay in the soil and this discovery raises my hopes of building a nice hut very soon. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?
I first started wearing sandals on outdoor adventures in February 2014. I’m so glad that I did because wearing these Luna Sandals has really helped strengthen my feet. You can see their selection of adventure and running sandals at this link: www.lunasandal...
(Note: I receive an affiliate commission from any sales derived from clicking on the link above)
Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 48.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including UA-cam. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free.
My equipment:
Camera: Nikon D7500
Sound: Zoom H4N
Editing: Final Cut Pro X on MacBook Air
Location: Parts Unknown
What a great video. It's like a movie or film. The cinematic nature of the shots and the
cuts he is doing is very tedious but still come off very well and seem worth the effort.
I am very excited for the journey ahead and what cool and wonderful things we will see
and be apart of not just as the audience but interacting and hoping that something good comes from that.
I know a lot of people join me in saying we really appreciate the skill built and the level of effort taken to
bring this to us and essentially to carry us around with him whenever he needs to shoot.
Those night skies and the wonderful western landscape and the great care in showing us these wonders of nature is definitely
something to not just subscribe to because it's obligatory but because it's more than earned and deserves the
attention brought to it for very obvious reasons and the spirit definitely comes through. Thank you can't wait for more.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. It's a lot of work to edit this style but I really love the cinematic style. Your comment is very much appreciated. Thank you!
@@ChadZuberAdventures The videos are certainly very beautiful, I am impressed with the camera work and editing. Really good stuff man.
👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
@@ChadZuberAdventures I have to ask, how long are you going to live in the wild like this
Agreed!
He actually does it all himself, checks the every comment, one man crew, a lot of work!
I don't know why, but these videos are just absolutely amazing and just make me so happy
Aaaah, thank you so much! :-)

Good luck and keep safe
Ah yes, the best series on UA-cam gives us another episode finally
I'm working hard trying to pump them out faster but it takes a lot of time to edit these by myself.

Would you consider talking to the camera more? I really enjoyed hearing your natural reactions and thoughts to things in your older videos
Seeing you use your pots, baskets, seal bones, and all your other tools from past videos in this new adventure is so cool! Primal Tendencies is great in every episode so far!
It's going to get better when I start building the Hut and fish and hunt.
For the chilly nights maybe try and put some big rocks in the fire to heat up and then remove them from the fire and lay next to them. Good foot warmer too. Rocks will hold heat for quite a while.
I'm impressed how good of a filmmaker he is while he's doing all this; multiple angles of each action, wide shots, close ups, it's so well made. Setting up all these shots would really slow down his survival tasks, yet he performs both with unwavering cohesion.
I totally forgot abt sun baked potatoes that we used to do as kids. I’m so glad this episode showed that as with summer approaching I wanted some new OUTSIDE things to do with them
It's really amazing that you do this. Honestly, I always thought it would be cool to live off the land as a kid. I knew it would be hard work but it was the fulfillment that I think I wanted. Or just to be cool and feel like I actually am doing something with my life lol.
It's a wonderful sense of freedom.
I definitely want to try manzanita tea now
You should! It really is good!
Manzanita or Manzanilla? No hate

Chad, have you ever had a fever? I mean, sometimes could happen. What did you do?
Great filmmaking, editing, and a lot of content delivered to us in only a few days. Great job!!
I absolutely love it, does he have a crew or film it all one man?
@@joycleo5572 I am fairly sure he has said he films it all by himself, editing too. Lot of work for one person!
It's really interesting to see how much you know about the land and it's resources, very impressive work! Can't wait for the next episode :)
This channel is a blessing. All this for free?! This should be on Netflix !!
Hello from France !
Thanks for this episode...
Can't wait to see the rest :)
For me this really gave me insight in the evolution of mankind. In the sense that seeing you "struggle" with basic things is keeping mankind so occupied that there wasn't much room to worry about greater things. But the tendency to want better made us do better and each time life became more comfortable, there was more room to worry about more and more complicated things. And so on.
Basically the whole Maslow pyramid idea but it really hit me seeing this video.
Thank you!
I’m so glad you see that. It’s so true and has become ever so apparent through this experience. Basic survival was a full time job and the human desire to make life more comfortable, more convenient, and more pleasurable has existed for thousands of years, and we have become very good at achieving those goals, but those same desires lead us to self destruction and death. That is our dilemma.
I'm shocked that I never found you sooner. I aspire to become like you someday.
this feels like a world class documentary
Awesome vid my friend keep up the awesome content
Thanks! Will do!
When I search for shelter I usually find one with a comforter and a pillow. Idk that’s just me .

Only People who like adventure, Hunting and cooking in forest mostly watching this? Right I really like. Thank you sir
I have a question. When you're done recording one video, how do you edit it then? There's no way you can do that in the wild. I would like to know. Also love your videos, keep up the great work. You were an inspiration from me ever since i started watching your Snake Island series, it was awesome. :)
Thanks a lot! I miss Snake Island.... I have to go to the city to use my computer, edit and upload.

I wont lie. That dried meat looks incredible.
It is even better when you have little else to eat.
Agree with other commentators. Just randomly stumbled upon this channel and there is something magical about these videos, i spend these minutes in some kind of happy daze, feeling like i am kid again watching some cool adventurous discovery channel shows back then
I've learned more from this entire channel than school.
A lot of that Manzanita is sold as perches for parrots because the Macaws and big Cockatoos can shred lesser perches.
I bought a big piece for a Moluccan that I raised. Very heavy stuff.
Your caption style of video results in a very peaceful viewing experience.
So excited for the premiere of the new adobe hut and potteries . Love your cooking style !
I wish you and your loved ones happiness and health
I love this type of video. It's not too extra on the editing, but its just enough to still keep the viewer captivated. Good work, you're really redefining this genre on UA-cam.

Yeah, I'm a one-man production crew. It's exhausting but I'm so dedicated to doing this.

Здравствуйте !
интересное видео !
очень познавательное !

wonder if he also bring a camera man as accompany, the video looks so professional.
He says he does everything himself. Takes forever. Worth it.
@J erje he's made a video before showing how he sets up his cameras and how long it takes to make these condensed videos, it seems to be really hard work
Unfortunately, it's just him doing everything. It would be a whole lot easier and quicker if he had a helper.
@@bartercoins where or how he edit this videos?
So far it's just me doing all the work. If I had a cameraman and someone to edit then I would be able to do four times more production. That may happen in the near future. I would really be able to increase production then.
Brilliant video! It must be so refreshing to be out in nature like that. Hard work, but refreshing
Juniper bark for bedding? Clever AF
It works well and it's an excellent tinder too
the noises of night and day are very soothing without a far off highway being heard every moment - it drives me insane.
pun not intended.
Thanks for the episode Chad. I was having a somewhat tough day, but watching this really made things better. Keep up the great work! You inspire me every time you upload.
Zehahahhaha hahaha
Боже мой, I'm so thrilled to hear YOUR DRUM. You know no one else has a drum like that one, don't you?
I didn't tell you; the strongest sound is to strike directly in the center, but halfway between the rim and the center is a note a little quieter, but a musical fourth deeper.
You found that out anyway. You know what a thrill that was for me?
This was like seeing a student's recital and he's done much better than you'd have hoped. The maraca was a really nice touch. I liked it.
I like the bone buttons very much. But where you put them getting a close-up was hard! (no pun intended)
Is the bone that tan color all the way through? It's wonderful.
In this episode, the drum sounds different than before. The sound is less low, more "flat".
@@haudtalis5036 he got the head a little tighter. He might have more water in it too. But it's clearly the same pot drum as before. It's definitely not some new-age group with a plastic shaman drum. This one is REAL.
I'm new to the channel here and I love to go out and build a hut and fire and just listen to the night while laying there gazing into the fire. Hearing sounds from miles away but meshed with the sounds of nature. Your landscape is way different than Michigan but I would love to experience that night sky once in my life. Awesome Content cant wait to watch them all.
