I'm 72, and This is one of my Fav Van Halen hits! Actually, I don't think it played on the radio that much compared with others. Not sure why, but it's Fun to see young Guys loving it too! :)
You’re not wrong. Eddie started out on the piano as a kid, and he clearly was a rare musical genius, guitar hero pyrotechnics notwithstanding. So it makes sense that his playing the keys would be beautiful. I’m just glad he vetoed his band mates and their producer and took the band in the direction he wanted to. Which was to incorporate synthesizers and embrace his perfect pop sensibility in his songwriting. Not to abandon their guitar-driven hard rock roots, just to mix it up. And man, did it pay off. Genius, RIP.
I’ve been playing drums since 1980. I know I’m old , but the groove in this song is so infectious. Has all the right elements to be great. Some of the best pop groove’s of all time.
VH had some big hits during the DLR era, but in my opinion, the Haggar years produced all the greatest VH songs, and this is my fave out of all of them.
this song was on Van Halen's "5150" album, the first album/songs without David Lee Roth, who was with his own band but the band name was "David Lee Roth". The songs were recorded at Eddie Van Halen's house in his personal recording studio; which was known as "5150 Studios" as well as the album being named "5150" because they took the name 5150 from the California Welfare & Institutions Code which allows police or a clinician or psychiatrist to take a person into custody against their will as a result of a mental disorder, psychosis, being a danger to himself/herself or others, or severely disabled & unable to process logical thought; that law in the California law is called "Section 5150" of the state code. One of Eddie's neighbors was taken into custody one night by police under the 5150 involuntary lockup code & Eddie just decided to name his recording studio as "5150". Since Eddie Van Halen died his son Wolfgang now has taken ownership of the recording studio as left to him in his father's will/estate. I drove a Hertz Car Rental bus for a year taking passengers from the airport terminal to their rental cars in a lot about 2 miles from the airport dropping them off at their cars, and I used to play this super loud when the bus was empty it was a super fancy bus with 33 speakers & woofers so the bass thundered. Then when I'd arrive to pick up customers at the airport terminal to take them to their cars or at the station to take people who had just dropped off their rental cars & going back to the airport terminal I'd turn the stereo down. One time, I had to get off the bus to check on a belt, and a few passengers boarded the bus with their suitcases & place them into the luggage rack & sat down. Then, while I was off the bus checking something in the diesel engine in back of bus, one of the passengers turned up the volume as loud as it could possibly go............you could hear it hundreds of feet away. Startled, I jumped back aboard the bus.........and what did I see? About 15 people aboard my bus............just jamming, pounding, singing along, high-fiving each other. I smiled, sat down in the driver's seat. And we ALL listened to this song, and a couple others, from the 5150 album........the music so loud my rearview mirror was vibrating. As I pulled into the rental car lot & passed by the office there, my boss just shook his head in disbelief as EVERYONE in the entire lot could hear Van Halen blasting out of my closed bus. It was hilarious!
Great to see you young gentlemen enjoying the greatness of VH. I had the pleasure of seeing them 5 times over the years, both with Dave & Sammy. When they played this live in concert, Sammy played the guitar solo so Eddie could play the keyboards. You guys need to go back to 1981 & react to “Unchained” live from Oakland 1981. A must watch for any new VH fan.
If you like this song you will certainly like Feels so Good, Can't stop Lovin' you, Not Enough, Right Now, and Love Walks in. Killer "slower" VH songs with Sammy
Keep this Van Halen reactions coming , not that I am biased or anything. “There is only one way to rock” live Tokyo might be their most lit performance and you need to check it out !! That song was originally a Sammy Hagar hit before he joined Van Halen and Eddie takes that song to epic level !!
My opinion only, but I think the performance of, One Way To Rock, is better on the Live Without A Net video. Both versions are great, but the Live Without A Net just has something very special about it.
This song I love so much because it legit takes me back to when I was in eighth grade when I was young . I just love it man. I never got to see Van Halen but I got to see Metallica and Justice for all tour live in 1988 here in Milwaukee.
Song is from their OU812 album. Check out Cabo Wabo from the same album. A lot of other good tracks. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is a powerful album too with songs like Poundcake, Right Now, Judgement Day, etc. Also, don't forget songs like Dreams, Love Walks in and Good Enough, from the 5150 album.
Gotta tell you, guys, it makes the heart of an old man like me, feel alive to know great music can and will live on after I'm gone. Young men like you, finding this stuff and keeping it for another generation is what music is supposed to be about. I am now a subscriber. Great reaction, keep up the great work boys.
Right Now ~ it was video of the year it was released. It is still true today. This song RULED the decade (even made a Chevrolet commercial!). It will rock your soul, guaranteed! The song is awesome, but their video is perfection. Great reactions 😀
Off of OU812 in 1988. Eddie was as good on a keyboard as he was on a guitar. There's a song on it called Cabo Wabo which is described as the walk you do after drinking tequila and they invested in a tequila distillery that was called Cabo Wabo.
All of the album 5150 is great. Sammy Hagar, Standing Hampton album is great to. Gotta love the Red Rocker. Try ( there's only one way to Rock). Fun reaction.💯👍
Check out also their other songs recorded with Sammy Hagar. My recommendations: Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do), Poundcake, Humans Being ( from Twister soundtrack), Not Enough., Right Now and Crossing Over. All these songs are fantastic. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
When it comes to Van Halen the majority of their really great songs are with Sammy. Right Now, Poundcake, Black-and-Blue, just a bunch of great songs with more keyboards and variance with Sammy....plus he's just a way better singer. Roth wasn't a very good vocalist, he was just a Showman.

THE BEST BAND IN THIS WORLD: VAN HALEN IS!
You’re not wrong. Eddie started out on the piano as a kid, and he clearly was a rare musical genius, guitar hero pyrotechnics notwithstanding. Sammy still has that voice. Touring to this day, red rocker is still on 🔥🔥🔥🔥💖
Man, Shout out to Michael Anthony with his iconic high 1 tenor background vocals. His range is crazy!
One of THE BEST songs we reacted to!
Michael and Eddie never get enough credit for thier backing vocals
I’ve been playing drums since 1980. I know I’m old , but the groove in this song is so infectious. Has all the right elements to be great. Some of the best pop groove’s of all time.
I started playing drums around 1988.......👉🏻
Hah. I'm 65 and I can't believe you guys love to song as much as I do. Great choice. Love the reaction videos, keep up the good work 👏
This is my FAVORITE VH song ever ❤. I went to this concert back in the day.
VH had some big hits during the DLR era, but in my opinion, the Haggar years produced all the greatest VH songs, and this is my fave out of all of them.
1988 this tune was a hit. Love Walks In Is really good! 👍
Here is the reaction to Love Walks In: ua-cam.com/video/TD8KceanK1o/v-deo.html

Van hagar classics. Cabo wabo, poundcake, in an out, feelin ,crossing over.

It was on the follow-up entitled OU812 in 1988... I always got this and Why Can't This Be Love, which IS on 5150, mixed up at first
Yeah I had goosebumps when I first heard this song......how the keys are synched up to a "tap" sound. It's really a good mood to explain "love" .
Right now, Best of both worlds, I can't stop loving you, Top of the world, Poundcake, Summer nights, Dreams, Love walks in.....pick one!
Here is Love Walks In Reaction!! ua-cam.com/video/TD8KceanK1o/v-deo.html

You guys are fun. I agree about this group. They are really good. God bless you both!

The Sammy Hagar Era with VanHalen put out so many great songs.
This song I love so much because it legit takes me back to when I was in eighth grade when I was young . I just love it man. I never got to see Van Halen but I got to see Metallica and Justice for all tour live in 1988 here in Milwaukee.

Right Now ~ it was video of the year it was released. It is still true today. This song RULED the decade (even made a Chevrolet commercial!). It will rock your soul, guaranteed!
The song is awesome, but their video is perfection.
Great reactions 😀

Do the whole 5150 album! Love Van Hagar!!!!
5150 is phenomenal. Good video guys. I love Van Halen.
This was off OU812, not 5150. But the Hagar era was extremely good across all albums
Dreams by Van Halen! 😎🔥🤘🎸
If you have not already, do: Van Halen - Can't stop loving you. Pretty similar to this
Off of OU812 in 1988. Eddie was as good on a keyboard as he was on a guitar. There's a song on it called Cabo Wabo which is described as the walk you do after drinking tequila and they invested in a tequila distillery that was called Cabo Wabo.
Great Van Halen song that’s super underrated
Watch Van Halen TOP OF THE WORLD ( live in Fresno Ca.)
Van Hagar
Great song. One of my favorite Van Halen songs is "Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)". I'd like to hear your thoughts about it.
Sammy’s voice is brilliant

All of the album 5150 is great.
Sammy Hagar, Standing Hampton album is great to. Gotta love the Red Rocker. Try ( there's only one way to Rock). Fun reaction.💯👍
You should check out Black & Blue off of this same #1 album from 1988. Monsters of Rock Concert was awesome!!!
Yes, seen this amazing band many times. Gotta say Sammy Hagar filled in quite nicely.
Love comes walking in. Valerie, Eddie’s ex favorite song
Right Now
Survivor “Didn’t Know It Was Love”

Eddie has passed, but for sure his greatness is still alive and forever will be. Especially in this AMAZING band
1988 on the album OU812
Nice one fellas !!

You guys should check out the live version. It will knock your socks off!
As usual...great react amazing song choice! Glad y'all are venturing off on different tracks! That album is 🔥
Check out " in a simple rhyme", best deep track EVER
You may ask yourself, Why is the name of the album OU812 ?. Because, in true Van Halen fashion, the name spelled out is---Oh, you ate one too?.
Fire
Not sure if y'all have done it or not but you gotta hear Warrant - Uncle Tom's Cabin and the video is a must, it's a mini movie for the song
'til things get out of control
💪🏼💪🏼
If you're into Van Halen love songs, their ultimate love song is Love Walks In. I highly recommend that you play it next.
Sammy Hagar is probably the best Rock singer. He’s just amazing.❤️
As for Motley Crue, Check out the video for live wire and check out the devil.....

Why Can't This Be Love is another great Van Halen hit with Sammy
Man i love bothRoth and Hagar BUT i think Sammy might be the favorite for me! Do you guys have a fave?
This is Sammy Haggar. Not David Lee Roth
ou812
The depth and quality of their music improved 100% with Sammy. DLR was just all show, no real range.
You guys need another set of headphones
