- Today I cover the sad reality that most producers and engineers are not in shape or healthy at all. This is a product of circumstance and mentality, I was once there and struggling a lot. Here is my take on why this happens.

Important message man, thanks for making this video. Definitely needs to be talked about more. I'm mainly mixing these days and the epiphany I had was; thinking of the 'Get it right at the source' for tracking, but in reverse for mixing. People are hiring me to mix they're material for ME, my taste, my choices, my musical intuition... Doesn't matter that I have ATCs or what plugins I'm using in Pro Tools. The best thing I can do to show up for my clients and make sure I knock it out of the park is to take care of myself;body and mind.
I'll 100% do abetter mix on a laptop and headphones; well rested and hydrated, after a good workout, with my mind right ready to tackle the mix; as opposed to being in the best studio with the best speakers and outboard, but struggling with lack of sleep or hungover, or fuelled by nothing but junk food....

As someone who lived multiple lives; one in finance, one in hospitality and one as a record producer and engineer - I’m most worried about the latter. 15 years in all three industries shows me creative people have problems that need a different kind of attention. Thank you for watching!
People in all occupations are neglecting their health and personal life to make money. Thats nothing new. Work life balance is important and neglecting your health for money isn’t worth it. Health is everything and what good is money if you’re too sick to enjoy it or continue to make it?
I’ve worked for many years across three different industries. Highlighting not just all occupations but specifically entrepreneurs is extremely important because. Creative entrepreneurs need to protect their minds and bodies as unfortunately it’s about a lot more than money alone to them. That said, everyone’s health does matter - but during my time in music I haven’t heard it nearly as much as I had in finance and hospitality. Thanks for checking out this video!
