The more I hear and learn about Buds the more I’ve come to realize…Buds is torture. Mental and physical torture. The question becomes how much torture can someone endure before they quit or get to injured to continue. Much respect to anyone who completes Buds.

I couldn't do it. I know I would probably make a day or two, but five straight days no sleep, constant work total misery freezing cold. Only the strongest of the strong survive hell week.

    You guys are
    Straight Rad
    So much Respect 🙏
I used to fight fire seasonally
    Always in shape
Off season part of my personal training
I'd go down to Kern River
    I lived there
Would go along the rivers' edge
    Tennis shoes and shorts
Run as fast as I could across the river rock
Could tune into that kinetic energy
Was already looking at the rock past the rock I was landing on without ever putting your whole weight on any rock
That kinetic energy carried so you barely touch any rock
Sure enjoy listening to you guys Jocko🤝
    Always inspires

My conclussion after watching many BUDs and hell week videos is that you just can't be phisically prepared for it (I mean you do, but you get it), they will carry you beyond exhaustion and pain. So in the end is how much you can take and how much can you focun on your goal and go straight at it no matter what, even in the edge of dying.

17yr airline employee been around the world 5x, life long surfer having surfed all the big wave and dangerous spots all over the world multiple times- El Salvador, Nicaragua Indonesia Peru Cold Ireland, NJ snow on the beach lived in Baja MX for 11yrs and we never see sharks, they don’t show you where they are until the usually already hit you. They don’t cruise the surface with fin up rarely. We see dolphins and seals daily regularly and even whales way more often than sharks. I’m not saying they’re not there but they don’t let you know they’re there that’s the plan.
So these military guys don’t nearly have the amount of time in the water a I’d regular surfers do. It’s like pro snowboarders have snow and mtn a gravity experience and know such high level techniques and understanding that even most elite military training guys do not know or have exp with. Sorry, it’s just the time in the water, they don’t compare. Also our fitness is par if not better than these guys, seals and jocko are not always in the best they were at one time. Regular big wave surfers have to be high level cardio all the time

The helmet thing is interesting, you don't want to let up on them, but do they need to be struck in the head with a boat, there's plenty of other difficult challenges, and there's an argument for with safety equipment you can go harder and further. Idk the answer, im pro helmet but also pro stump! Wear a helmet on the stumps.

Its NEVER exactly 4 miles. Or 2 mile swims. Or quarter mile drag races

    • @Deepblue417
      @Deepblue417 Рік тому

Timed evolutions are done in nautical miles. So 4 mile timed runs are 4 nautical miles, 2 mile ocean swims are 2 nautical miles etc. nautical’s are on average a mile extra.
Conditioning evolutions are really never what they say they are, they may say 5 mile con run but it really turns to a 6-7 mile con run with beat downs included.
Drag races and elephant walks are mixed in with other evolutions generally. My buddies class went straight from drag races to a mile straight of lunges with the log into a few surf tortures during one smoker evo. Made a dude in my buddies boat crew openly decide to quit and become a cop instead ( this was pre hell week)

Very high level surfer, 17yr airline employee been around the world 5x and surfed all the big waves in the darkest most remote dangerous places in the world and the average person just doesn’t understand how water moves and acts and how to navigate and conserve energy and go with the flow etc. same with mountain snow knowledge, knowing how to deal with gravity and snow and going fast.
