BIG FACTS. I've thought to myself how much better of a person I would be if I had someone remotely like him in my life. Guess I have to do it the hard way.
Conrad Francis Makes sense. He’s very articulate, which one doesn’t usually think of regarding tough warriors like himself. It’s probably part of his appeal, he’s like a warrior poet.
When I was in the Navy, I worked in flight operations. One of my tasks was to make sure the flight crew's hotel accommodations were smooth so they could get checked in and rest for the night. I don't quite remember the details but there was some mix up when they got to the front desk. I dont even recall that it was my fault, but when the commanding pilot got back from the trip he asked "who made these accommodations?" I told him directly without hesitation "it was me Sir, I apologize." He looked at me and said "Wow, thank you. Most people wouldn't have admitted that." He and the other pilots, as well as my colleagues respected me from then on. I never forgot that feedback and I have always owned up to my mistakes since then. I passed that on to my son who now serves in the Army. When he owned up to mistakes, I rewarded him with respect, acknowledgement, and more trust.

Jocko is the reason my paralyzed brother can walk now. Jocko's presence commands so much respect that my brother stood at attention as an unconscious reflex when he walked in the room.
I've listened to Jocko quite a bit before this, but have never heard him breathe so nervously. He really was very nervous here. He's a hardened vet, but he's still human.
Mister And that’s what’s so special about him. He’s not some sociopath killer with no emotions, some fake tough guy who only cares about looking cool. He’s a good person, one who cares about himself and about humanity. He just wants to make himself AND everyone else better. He’s a real role model. Most importantly, he’s not afraid to make himself vulnerable. That’s what makes a TRUE man.
He's a SEAL. He's not used to being in the spotlight. They work behind the scenes and in the shadows. They are called "Quiet Professionals" for a reason.
Now this, this is a man. Not because of his demeanor, but because of his morals and values as a man. I learned a lifetime of valuable information in this 14 minute video.
@do br he should take ownership and try to Lead people to victory. He knows how dark life can be - he is now the one to stand up and walk his people to a better life and do it as best as he can. That's what makes a man.
This is the kind of man that I hope lives in every soldier. This man has a level of honor that is so uncommon that it's tragic. If more people were as brave as this man, I am convinced the world would be a far greater place. This is the perfect example of a man that I aspire to be. This human being is exactly the type of "look you in the eye and shake your hand" kind of man that I really hope me and my son can come close to being. I will try Mr. Willink. I will try to live by the standards you have set. They are truly worth it.
To be a leader of men at 19, 25, or 50 in a battlefield environment, in business and in life will never be easy. It goes against innate primal feelings to run or hide from hardship. To be a leader means ownership of everything. %100 of effort, I pushed my self hard to be the best leader I could be in the Marines while I was in, To live up to the great leaders and friends I have lost, the lessons they have taught me. I still to this day hyper analyze situations years later on how I could have done better. Always look forward in life, everything is a learning experience and never stop believing in yourself, even if everyone already has.

Up until they left the house..whenever jocko was going out,"dad..you're the man of the house now!" 😉
My father taught me exactly what this guy taught us. We must assume our responsibilities. We can't transfer blame. This is matter of character. This video is awesome.
I could still hear him even after I put my computer to mute.
But why did you put it on mute?
When you watch a video with Jocko in it he comes to your house to personally narrate it because the speakers are scared
The man that millions of young men need in their lives.
Extremely underrated comment.
BIG FACTS. I've thought to myself how much better of a person I would be if I had someone remotely like him in my life. Guess I have to do it the hard way.

Lmao, Peterson isn't judgmental. He's a damn psychiatrist.
As a guy that grew up without a father, I wish that I would have had someone like this in my life.
Even tho Im not a guy,had no dad...this guy's wise.
Jocko once took a lie detector test.
After just a few minutes the machine confessed everything

Imagine Catching Jocko in Bed with your wife, you'd just have to tuck him in.

First word: War. Last word: Victory
I heard somewhere he IS an English major. Id bet this was intentional
For Jocko it's literally the next sentence. He wins the war just looking at the enemy.
No, it was thank you
Conrad Francis
Makes sense. He’s very articulate, which one doesn’t usually think of regarding tough warriors like himself. It’s probably part of his appeal, he’s like a warrior poet.
Wow, first time i see Jocko emotional. You can see him going through the scenario as if he's still there
After this talk the audience were deployed to Afghanistan.
😅
This was one of the best comments ive ever read on youtube. It literally made me burst out laughing. Very good.

When Jocko was 14, he gave his dad “the talk.”
Oh I honestly believe this lol.

Ok 😂😂😂😂
Phones silence themselves when Jocko speaks.
You’ve made my day!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
They hide in fear.
Jocko made everyone in the audience wake up at 4:30 AM to hear his talk.
He wouldn't let them in the door without doing burpees until they puked.

"I had to control my ego so my ego would not control me"..... Best take-away ever.
you know...if I took these actions in those situations --- bet anything my ego would grow. Pride is not just about showing off when you do something right. Pride is just your trust in yourself and your ability to do the best thing in all situations.
@@andrabook8758 I agree. Especially not getting fired. But again even if your ego grows doesn't mean you can't control it.
@@MandoFettOG hey, nothing wrong with a healthy, growing ego. I try to grow my ego proportionally with my skill set. Nothing wrong w that. If its based on nothing but hot air...then yea, that's wrong, don't do that. But otherwise...I hope everyone's ego gets like those dinosaur trees in Australia- so huge and ancient it outlasts 2 climate changes, and meteor strike and 1 continental movement, and a fire inferno - just bc of its renown. Lol! I hope the ego gets its own preservation center and songs and ballads too! :'D
@@MandoFettOG I have total control over my ego....my sarcasm/witty replies tho :P...that's the real challenge. Luckily I am blessed with humour so it comes across funny not arrogant. It's all in the delivery :P.

Jocko is the reason my paralyzed brother can walk now. Jocko's presence commands so much respect that my brother stood at attention as an unconscious reflex when he walked in the room.

You gotta give him credit you can tell he was nervous you could hear it in his breath but he kept that stoic facial expression, true alpha
big dudes breath heavy tbh
+Gjermund It’s more the shakiness of his breathing. But he’s got the confidence of a mountain.
Jocko is sensational. He simply inspires us to take responsibility for our lives and move forward, no matter what.

Now this, this is a man. Not because of his demeanor, but because of his morals and values as a man. I learned a lifetime of valuable information in this 14 minute video.
I was engaged and local in all of this. You’re irreconcilably correct.
@do br he should take ownership and try to Lead people to victory. He knows how dark life can be - he is now the one to stand up and walk his people to a better life and do it as best as he can. That's what makes a man.
He has a great podcast too

Lol. One lesson, responsibility... I learnt that as a child.
When Jocko gets pulled over, HE gives the officer the ticket.

Amen

Well put, thanks for sharing.
Indeed.
