Stumbled upon this video, excellent video. Personally, I got rid of the loofahs a few years ago. I simply went on Amazon and ordered a 30-pack of high-quality washcloths, essentially I use a fresh washcloth every day. My skins has never been better. Mike
I cannot believe this is even a debate who would want to use something that you have used before without washing it. A clean washcloth every time jeez. Some people are lazy.
I see those “luv scrubs” at the dollar store… I am all for support but I think some are taking advantage of that. A lot of dermatologists do recommend hands only but I think you do need some kind of scrub at least twice a week or one that chemically removes dead skin. I went back to wash cloths after loofahs and puffs were just too irritating, then body acne showed up ,even with washing my cloths every three days. I don’t use cloths or anyThing on privates but wash cloths can still get bad if you arent washing them daily or every other day. They have silicone scrubbers for your body, and used the one for my face for weekly dead skin removal. they are great and don’t really build with bacteria and can be cleaned easy but I think I missed feeling squeaky from oil removal that cloths do but learning that is so bad for skin. Natural oils should be balanced not depleted. It contributes to aging, sensitivity and splotchy uneven skin due to all the irritation. Is brown black women tend to suffer from hyperpigmentation and I think a lot of it is from aggressive skin cleaning. We’ve grown up on dial like soaps and wash cloths and those things may get you clean but you lose natural oil and have to have it replaced with products. Over time your body depends on the products and doesn’t know how balance itself. Skin damage causes hyperpigmentation, and so my skin toned up well without using cloths or anything else but also what kind of ph balanced, synthetic fragrance free cleanser you’re using. I’m looking for cleansers since a lot of “soap” on the market is suppose to be so bad for you. And have found that to be proven through all the products I’ve used and how my skin reacted. After all these things you may think you feel great right after but overtime you see the effects of being too rough with their skin. I am back to a body scrub weekly and use hands with a moisturizing body cleanser. And my skin has been getting better again. Even my nether regions. How rough your are to your skin means everything and just bc it doesn’t feel too bad doesn’t mean it isn’t doing some damage. Hope it’s gentle enough and works for you! Great topic for a vid btw !
Washcloth gets washed every week and ringed out to dry but I like that scrubbing product it’s takes the best from washcloth and loofah! It might need be washed every 2 weeks though
To exfoliate your skin African Sponge/Net ( I get mine from my local African( Beauty Store) or Salux Nylon Japanese Beauty Skin Bath Wash Cloth/towel (I get mine from the Asian Oriental Market).
Im white, well, mixed as my grandmother 4 generations back was African. Anyway, I can't use soap because it dries out my skin no matter which kind I use. I use a body wash, but I do use a wash cloth. Thats how I was taught to clean. I was using loofa balls, but not anymore.
I've been pretty interested in different face washing routines but I always use a loofah when I wash my body but after watching this I might go buy a bunch of washcloths and just wash them after two uses! I would purchase maybe a rougher washcloth though because I really like how using a loofah really cleans my oily nose and my ears! Going to experiment with different showering methods! Need to try different face washing routines
Could you wash your wash cloth with bar soap 🧼 in the sink? And could you do the same with hand soap? Washing it in the sink sounds convenient but I don’t know if it’s good idea
I use a loofah but after each use i keep it in my room with my towel hanging because it dries quick and free from germs, the way I hang my towel is behind my door on a stick fully extended held by clips and loofah hanging on a clip. Now, sharing bathing stuff that sounds gross by itself.
I forgot in opinion its not good to keep a towel in the bathroom unless if bringing it each time of using it because in the past theirs times in the summertime my bathroom smelled like bacteria my stomach would feel it lol then it makes all the towels smell!
Aren't bacteria also getting on your luv scrub when you hang it? You rinse it out just like a washcloth and hang it up. Regardless, I'm getting rid of the loofa and will check out the luv scrub. Thanks for the video.
No the good thing about the luv scrub is the material it’s made from. Washcloths are absorbent so hold bacteria compared to the luv scrub which is 100% nylon, so it does not breed bacteria like other bath tools plus dries extremely fast
Im not hating or anything but nylon is a type of toxic plastic. I went from plastic loofa to natural loofa but honestly im going to try washcloths and see what sticks.
Not to talk bad about luvscrub mitra’s on Amazon is a little cheaper. I’ll try the luvscrub one one day tho. You can wash the African nets in the washer tho so it’ll probably hold up awhile.
The professional dermatologist videos say hands only, and nobody should ever share soap ever. I didn't know people share soaps. Also you're supposed to be washing with cleansers not soaps.
I was looking for which is better washcloth or shower net then I stumbled across your video and thanks it helped a lot I'm more educated on the subject now and I think I'll go with wash cloths I'll use a different one a day or clean it after use im not a fan of the soaper but thank you for the recommendation and the video I'm more enlightened
Very informative. I tuned in so that I could explore some bathing utensil options. $18 is really not a lot of money for something you use every day for optimal hygiene. It's so interesting what we can learn from other countries! Thanks very much for sharing your information! P.S. I don't know how you got that camera positioned like that in the bathroom. lol. Brilliant! You go, girl! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Yes I agree the $18 is worth it since I can use it for much longer than a typical rag or loofah, appreciate your feedback and hope you keep watching :)
Its NOT a loofah so idk where you got that from, they aren't the same material at all. The fact that a loofah is tied is what makes them not last as long because they hold all that bacteria. Its also from a Black owned company which I want to support so the $18 goes way deeper than simply $18. Thank you for your comment though :)
@@TheBathingBlog It does kinda remind me of when my loofahs unravel. But if time using it is longer then a dollar store loofah then the price would be worth it. Plus added bonus of voting with one's wallet of what you want to see succeed. Started knitting washclothes but didn't know how to care/use them. Very informative video. Wondering if one could hypothetically knit/crochet with very thin cotten this net sponge. Probably easier buying one. Will keep in mind.
I’m African and I’ve used the safo (shower net) all my life. It’s absolutely amazing.

Odd but when you pull apart a loofah it turns into shower net and it’s cheaper just sayin
Were you using the washcloth after the day you first washed with it? If so it's supposed to be one wash then clean.
