@reggieraven8440 Because you don't wash your body as frequently as you do with your hands. So the body needs more scrubbing. Also, what do you wash your privates with? Because if you use your hands, you're probably going to get sepsis. No wonder yall were dying if small pox, and measles. You just let the germs sit and multiply on your body. Yall are nasty.
To those who think a washcloth harbors germs, that's because you're thinking the same one is used everyday. I own many and change my washcloths, face cloths and towels regularly so there isn't a build up of germs. Then, on laundry day, I wash them all. Just buy a bunch and change your cloths often between laundry days. I even use exfoliation gloves and wash those in laundry too. Exfoliation is good for sloughing off dead skin here and there just like we do on the face.
Can you put me on to good brands of wash clothes ( I’m a man) all I use is a loofa but after watching this I’m getting wash cloths and when I wash my towels and clothes detergent is good enough right?? Or do I use bleach too I’m so confused I was never taught about hygiene, I own 4 different towels how often do I need to buy new ones?
@@chasegainsovahoes663 Get some soft washcloths at Target, TJMaxx or similar stores. You don't have to bleach them. I usually wash all my towels and washcloths together in a warm load with detergent and pine sol (pine sol is a personal preference and not necessary). Also, use gentle detergent if you have sensitive skin or allergies. The reason I say to use a soft washcloth is because it's less rough on the skin. Then, every once in a blue moon, I'll exfoliate my skin. Hope that helps.
@Daniel Langer Thanks for sharing. I don't ever have that problem using washcloths. I also moisturize with body cream and lotion daily and my skin stays moist. Also, did you realize that a soap bar or body wash ALONE is "stripping " as you put it? They contain sulfates, so it's important to moisturize after only using a "stripping" soap. If you're avoiding washcloths because they strip, then don't use soap either or moisturize.
@Daniel Langer There is no need to call me a dummy because we disagree. Mature conversations can occur even with disagreement. Have a blessed day and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
When you use a washcloth, your skin is softer and smoother afterwards BECAUSE it exfoliates the dead skin cells on your body. You wouldn’t wash your dishes without a cleaning pad or cloth would you? No, because those things get stuck on food, grease, etc. off your dishes. It’s the same concept with a washcloth and your body. Also, exfoliated skin absorbs skin products better.
So sad that we have to teach them this in this day and time. That's why there was so many plagues and illnesses back in the d day amongst Europeans, partially because of poor hygiene and the reason why everywhere they colonized indigenous people would become sick and die of illnesses and diseases that they had never been exposed to because of their hygiene practices
If you don’t use a washcloth, how do you clean your orifices? Ex: cleaning the wax out of your ears and the 💩 from your a ss? Now I understand why I see them using their bare finger to pick boogers instead of using tissue….just have the nostril raised up higher than the hood on a car! Just DIGGING!
There's no need to since most people keep wipes in their bathroom. You use the wipes. Then after you wipe . You scrub yourself with bodywash in the shower and use the spray attachment to hose your privates so why on earth do we need washclothes?
Wow I'm learning so much today and I'm so proud to see this. I just don't remember a lot of people who were white back in the days that didn't have washcloths now I think of it. I guess it's the way you were raised and where you from. But to me why would you use your hand getting up in your booty? That is what scrubbers and whatnots for.
@@reggieraven8440 theres multiple reasons for this. Your hands are out in the open exposed so they dont collect and store moisture the same way. And if you arent gross you're constantly washing your hands throughout the day. Clothes do the same thing to the rest of the body as the pits of your arms. You're sweating all day, clothes keep all that in your pours, plus bacteria builds up in dark damp places so you start smelling. Using a cloth digs all of that out of your pours and gets all the dead skin off (dead skin also creates a smell) so your skin is softer, youre cleaner, and you smell better.
White washcloth for the face and color washcloths for the body. That's how I was taught. No confusion even after laundry day. My Grandma used to say folks wash the soap more than themselves without a washcloth.
Wash your face in the sink with the face cleanser, Not in the shower. It should be the first thing that you wash before getting into the shower. Shower soap was for the body. And we use individual cotton balls to wipe our face, discard it, moisturize it then get into the shower. If it’s the hair washing day, the face will be washed properly with the extra face wash bottle that I leave in the shower area. And not with a wash cloth. I even taught my kids to do that.

@@bey7khan761 I asked Chat gpt for historical references to washcloths from European countries. Here's what it said: Historical references to washing with cloths in European countries can be found dating back to ancient times. In ancient Rome, for example, bathing was a common practice, and individuals used a combination of oils and scrapers to cleanse their bodies. In medieval Europe, public bathhouses became popular, and people would use cloths or sponges for personal hygiene during these communal bathing sessions. Additionally, various cultures in Europe developed their own bathing traditions, often involving the use of cloths or similar materials for cleaning.
Mexican here, I've used loofas my whole life. My grandparents in El rancho had some DENSE loofas that could rip your skin off lol So I guess we're right in the middle of the debate.
Take your car to the car wash and just hose it off with soap and water then take a clean white towel and dry the entire car off with it. Save that towel then a few weeks later go back to that same car wash and wash your car with the soapy brush and rinse it off then finish it with a new white towel then compare the 2.

This has always baffled me! My family is super white on both sides and we always used washcloths! How you get all the dead skin off? How do you scrub? These same people probably just squish shampoo right on their head and swish it around, probably not even cleaning that scalp properly and then wonder why their hair falls out at 35 😅
And how do you clean your sensitive crevices in orifices with a rough loofah. Plus the way the loofah is shaped it just doesn't get into the crevices properly and it's too rough for genitalia in my opinion. And it just irritates me when they talk about bacteria as if people are just using the same washcloth day after day only they would think that way because they're nasty and they don't bathe properly.
@@ndavis497umm bro... Youre only supposed to use the washcloth once and then wash it. Idk where you're getting this info from. But if you know anyone who does that, tell them to stop immediately
Ohk, I am brown and I would prefer wash cloth. Simply because loofah is way too harsh on your skin and it accumulates bacteria in the creases. It's not easy to wash them either. On the contrary wash clothes are gentle on skin, work well with body washes and can be washed right away and be dried along with the towel. Its easy to get the dirt out from a wash clothes especially the light colored ones than a loofah. Moreover i have a jug in the shower and while I am done with my shower I simply turn some hot water into the jug leave my washcloth until I am done with my skin care, then I go back squeeze the wash cloth and dry it along with my towel.
I am white. I use wash cloths. I was raised using wash cloths. My parents and grandparents on both sides had and used wash cloths. So has every woman I've ever dated. Not using a wash cloth seems crazy!
Washcloth is a must, the only way I could ever seeing me not use one is if there isn't one available. Pam is right, the name WASHCLOTH tells you exactly what it is and what it's for. So you run your hand up the crack of your ( | ) to wash it? Nope Nope Nope... Soap on washcloth and scrub your body with it. Rinse and repeat.
This is not a black / white issue it's an about cleanliness. I'm half American half Arab and my white mother always taught me to use a washcloth. Didn't know this was up for discussion.
@@FatLeonard84 Yes, but most shower gels are harsh for people with sensitive skin. For me, i use antibacterial soap to get really clean. And to smell nice I use a Dove soap product.
Five areas you cant clean with your hands or bar of soap: feet (between toes, bottoms), genitals, butt, belly button, and armpits. And you wash the washcloth as you wash so that you're constantly removing the bacteria. We use washcloths and we wash our raw meat before we cook it.
People should always use washcloths when showing and 3 or 2 times a week they should use an exfoliating device like exfoliating gloves to really scrub off the dead skin and right afterwards apply lotion so their skin isn’t dry. Taking care of yourself feels good and has you smelling good idk why more people don’t invest 🤷🏽♀️

I am from Eastern Europe and everybody here uses sponges. It used to be natural sponges, but now syntethic ones are everywhere and dirt cheap. I don't like the synthetic ones. A rather new (from last decades) widely used product is the loofah or shower sponge that is like a plastic mesh. Better than synthetic sponge. I lived in UK for a while and I found out they don't use solid soap. It's all liquid soap and shower gels or creams and loofah. I even asked an old lady, about 60 year old and she didn't remember ever using solid soap for showering. Some shops still have a small variety of solid soaps like Dove and Imperial Leather, but they are nothing compared to the offers for liquid soaps and shower gels. I tried using a small towel for shower in the past, but I found out it doesn't work at all. There are also some gloves for shower, quite decent, but they don't last. I kind of tried everything and in the end I can say the best for everyday shower is simply bar soaps and hands. It's fast and pleasant. But every other day I need to use a loofah with shower gel to exfoliate. Best solid soap after trying everything is Dove. The most ridiculous thing I ever heard is that soap can get dirty. Even if you rub it on your butthole, the moment you put it under water is clean in an instant, as the superficial layer that was in contact with your body is washed away. Even going in the shower after a person that used it last to wash his ass, the first thing will be to put it under water anyway.
This isn't how soap works my guy, nor germs. Germs die by friction. And you need friction to get stinky smelling germs off you. I just know you start to ripe like 3 hours after showerinh
When a female in the house has her period and gets it all over the soap, I'd say that's dirty. I wouldn't want to go in the shower to use that all over my body next. Just use a new washcloth daily.
I work in Healthcare and I assist a elderly woman with her shower as I stood by she took a bar of soap and rub it all over her body and she's 87 years old! So that's her generation 😊

Your suppose to wring it out. Then change washcloth at least once a week. And you should have two wash cloths one for face and other for the rest of your body.

I don’t understand how one is able to clean certain areas of the body with just a bar of soap, especially women. How do you clean your bottom area, between your toes, ears, and belly button with just the bar of soap alone. How do you get up in the crevasses of certain female genital areas with a bar of soap🤔🤔
They use their bare hands and think they are clean smh. You don't clean anything else with a bare hand and still think it's clean so how can you think your body is clean just from wiping it with your bare hands
It's not a black/white thing, y'all. It's a fresh/musty thing. And if you're not using a washcloth... In the words of a very wise man: "I know you musty!"
It's not a race thing, it's a cultural thing. It's just that in America, being black is not just our race it's also the culture that ties all the descendants of enslaved Africans together no matter what their tribe was. And culturally, black people (who have African ancestry) brought their bathing habits and cleansing traditions with them from Africa and still practice them today and that tradition includes bathing with cloth. Europe, however, does not have the same cultural bathing practices so descendants are much less likely to have learned washcloth use from their parents, grandparents, and on down the line. This does not mean that ALL white people don't use them today, it means that on average the African diaspora around the world use some sort of cloth to bathe with and on average those with European ancestry do not. It's the same with daily body oils. Most folks with European ancestry don't use body oils after the bath or shower. You just dry off and dressed.
It's silly to think only black people use washcloths when the textile washcloth industry makes tons of money and it can't be all from blacks. Im black and I used cloths during childhood and young adulthood until I started using loofah. I do keep washcloths in our home because sometimes you just need one and I certainly purchase wisely as they can get quite costly.
I think this whole concept is crazy! I am white and although my parents weren't together, both raised us with wash cloths. I only stopped using them when I discovered loofahs and body wash. Now they are for my face.

Anyone who says using a wash cloth is gross is exposing their OWN gross-ness... you WASH the damn cloth after each use like ffs 💀💀
Have a blessed day and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
ppl who assume you are using the same washcloth every day are revealing more about themselves.
the whole point of the washcloth is to deeply clean and exfoliate the skin.....just using soap is not fully cleaning yourself......

Hahaha … just diggin 😂
There's no need to since most people keep wipes in their bathroom. You use the wipes. Then after you wipe . You scrub yourself with bodywash in the shower and use the spray attachment to hose your privates so why on earth do we need washclothes?

I guess it's the way you were raised and where you from. But to me why would you use your hand getting up in your booty? That is what scrubbers and whatnots for.
You don’t use a wash cloth to clean your hands when you wash them so why do you need a wash cloth to clean your body
The next time you're using the soap in the shower, think of the last thing I wash and the first thing you wash.

I use a facial cleanser so forget it 🤣🤣
I hope you're not using bar soap to wash your face...
Everyone I've ever known uses there own shower products, why were Joey and Chandler sharing a bar of soap?

@@bey7khan761 I asked Chat gpt for historical references to washcloths from European countries. Here's what it said:
Historical references to washing with cloths in European countries can be found dating back to ancient times.

On the contrary wash clothes are gentle on skin, work well with body washes and can be washed right away and be dried along with the towel. Its easy to get the dirt out from a wash clothes especially the light colored ones than a loofah.

I by wash cloths every time I go to target 🎯 I literally have 80 gray wash cloths I use a different one every time I bathe which is before work and before bed seven days a week and I wash my meat if you’re worried about contamination that’s what Lysol, Clorox, and ammonia is for to disinfect your home, this is why I don’t eat at “those” people homes hell I don’t even visit especially if they have pets because they usually sleep in the bed with them let them lay on the furniture and feed them from their plates 🤢🤮
As a white female, I use 2 wash cloths . One for the face and the other for the body .
This clip implies that white people bathe with just soap and black people bathe with just wash cloths.
Kind of *cringe* but okay.
No, black people use SOAP and a washcloth. There's a difference!
What 🙄
No the black lady mentioned soap
I'm telling y'all... they're cave people...straight Neanderthal... They don't even understand basic common knowledge of how to execute proper hygiene that's why they're all confused in these comment streets 🤢😳🤢😳💯🚿🧼🧽
Y’all are dumb and stupid. Who the heck uses a wash cloth without lathering it up with soap first? The debate isn’t about whether or not we use soap, it’s obvious that we do that. The debate is about using soap along with a washcloth dummy. Y’all and stupid and nasty. 😂
Use a clean wash cloth and body towel daily.
I usually use my hands but I recently started using a wash cloth I liked how I had to use less body wash my skin felt smoother I felt cleaner but every time I shower I get some sort of irritation sometimes the itching is unbearable I always put it to dry outside of the bathroom where there is air flow and it gets dry. I tried washing the wash cloth once every 3 days but I have realised that I needed to wash it after every use to get rid of the bacteria. My experience has been uncomfortable to use a wash cloth + it's really out of the way to throw it in the washing machine after every single use If anyone knows a way I can use the wash cloth without irritation I would really appreciate it.
Khes Thomas Hey is the washcloth you’re using colored because it might be the dye in it. Try maybe using just a all white wash cloth you can see the dirt and no dye is added to it. I have eczema so this happened to me , also maybe try using a different body wash and see for any new results. Best of luck !
@@kaylaniwoods1574 Yea thanks a lot I recently brought a white wash cloth it has helped and I also switched to hot showers instead of cold showers I don't get that irritation like before but I have another question how do you disinfect your wash cloths after each use?
Do you lotion your body after every shower? I just ask bc I notice a lot of men don't and completely skip moisturizing their skin. Washing thoroughly is one thing, but you need to restore moisture to your skin after it gets dried out in the shower.
@@Naomi-gr7fm yes I do Moisturize now with G&H lotion it has pumpkin seed oil shea butter and honey blossom it has helped so much I also use the body wash in it with white wash cloths I have a pack of 9 I don't get the irrtation as before it was the shower products I was using really
Bruh just buy enough washcloths that last for atleast two weeks. Not that expensive. Also you should never reuse the same washcloth more than once. Grab a clean one and put the dirty one in the washing machine. Simple
Never thought this was a black/white issue. I mean, every hotel has wash cloths, all the stores that sell towels, etc. have wash cloths. If only 13% of the population in the US used them, companies wouldn't go to the expense of making them for shops, and providing them in hotels. You'd have to find wah cloths in the "ethnic" section of stores (yeah, I know... not my designation...discuss it with the Grocery Stores and WalMart, not me). My family has always had wash cloths. I was surprised to hear that it was supposedly not a "white" thing...
What’s this name of this show
I believe it's called the neighborhood
Ok thanks
