    Hi, my name is Dayan. Im really happy i found you guys. I am about to do a restoration on a headliner of a VW Passat. Its my first time and after watching a few videos i feel more confident with the tips mentioned.
    I do have a question, though:
    Will the same technique work on the door panels ?
    P.S.
    Keep the DIY alive

      Most modern Door trims will have a similar process, however it's not something we do. With door trims, you'll just need to be much more precise with the cuts around the edges, as its easier to cut too much off.

    Wish me good luck! I’m about to do my 2009 Pontiac g8 gt ! I will be using the orange can (permatex) does that glue give you time to do all at once how you do or does it dry faster ? And thank you for the videos ! You have really helped out a lot !

    • @Reece.wilson
      @Reece.wilson 6 місяців тому +1

      Permatex would allow it all to be done in the one shot, usually more ideal when temperature is approx around 15°-20°
      You can also just focus on one half at a time, sometimes that's the best way 👍

    Oh yay. Now have to wait till you have stock.
    Can you peel the foam off to do the pillars and sunvisors?

    • @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs
      @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I spoke to supplier today, and an ETA on new arrival of stock is SEP 2023. I just tested a small sample to see if I could remove the foam, and the result was it didn't want to seperate well so I suggest for pillars wrapped in Suede to just use alternative stock thats without foam backing. Ive seen that type of stuff before at places like Spotlight. Or if you choose a more long lasting higher quality approach for Suede without foam backing for pillars I suggest 'Macro Marine Suede', which will have the UV and Automotive grade to it.

      We use a setup from two places that both do the same thing. If your referring to the actual nozzle on the gun tip, we just use the one that gives of a wide spray pattern.

    I'm currently working on my 2014 Subaru Forester headliner after fixing a roof rail leak. I am in the process of removing the old headliner material from the board and it does not seem to have any foam at all and was really stuck on. The board itself is like layers of fiberglass. Should i be looking at a foam back material or no? Also, tryung to go from a velour to a stretch suede.

    • @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs
      @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs  9 місяців тому +1

      Felt and carpet style headliner fabrics seen on Subaru's usually are permanently stuck to the board, so we usually just recover straight over the top, using extra glue than usual.
      I don't see an issue using suede fabric on thus job. Also you probably don't need foam backing if going straight over the top

    Nice explanation! Thank you! Is there a good way to paint the pillars black as well? Also, do you ship to US/Canada ?

    • @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs
      @ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs  10 місяців тому

      Thank you, spray painting is something we never really got in to. The fabric listing we have on eBay I believe is available for purchase in US, but to get it out of Australia makes it have a heavy postagecost unfortunately. Or we have another company we suggest for our US customers to use instead, and that is 'Headliner Magic' 👍

      @@ReecesAutoHeadliningRepairs, Thank you! I'll check it out! How do they ship it? I heard some companies ship it folded instead of curled.. Because of this, you see folded marks all around.. Can this be avoided? or is there a trick to make them dissapear if they ship it this way?

    • @Reece.wilson
      @Reece.wilson 10 місяців тому

      @@Ricky07070909 I'm not sure with other sellers, we fold ours in order for it to be accepted via Australia Post.
      Summary of how to deal with creases:
      Unfold it and Allow to rest unfolded for a couple of days.
      If its a sunny day, leaving it out in the heat can help with speeding up the process to allow the foam to expand again. However beware of birds and environment accidentally staining the fabric.
      Usually as you apply it to the job, from our experience it will come out even more if not straight away.
      Then once installed in the car, if anything leftover, park car in the sun and will also continue to look cleaner. This is a great tip to bring out any imperfections after completing the job, something we do on big jobs.
      If you have access to a handheld steamer, they work amazingly. But just test your settings on a small section at the edge first.
      Here is a video of us going into more detail about removing imperfections and creases.
