David you should make a budget version of the Meinl Like Holland Bullet Stack, it sounds sooooo amazing, just costs that Meinl Premium 😂😭. I've tried using a 16" Wuhan Linear Crash, and a modified 12" wuhan splash. Might try Istanbul Xist Ion, but would love to see your take on that stack.
I have (2)8" Wuhan splashes&a cracked Paiste Pst 5 splash.Im thinking those with my 8"Meinl Byzance splash.Im heading to the Depot now to get the hole saw. I have the same Milwaukee hole saw kit you have
Ahhh, so _this_ is why every splash cymbal on the wall at Guitar Center sounded like crap! They should really do something about that, if they want people to buy them.
Man, you're really one of a kind. Creative and inspirational. The little hh sounds great. Love watching yr channel. BTW, yr drums and yr playing is great. Bless
I bought a piece of 14” stainless steel pipe and had a friend turn it into the worlds heaviest snare drum lol... he called it the Frankenstein snare. Very rings but sweet at the same time. It just had to be turned down a good amount on a lathe to get the od the correct size . Here’s a pic of the drum... he also has pics of a few wood shells I made by bending birch wood around some molds made from PVC pipe. They are under the “making shells”tab. wastingwebspace.com/Pictures/CoronaDrumz/StanlessDone3.JPG.
@@potassiumchloride2542 it’s pretty thick... has a bit of a ring to it also but with the right tuning and a good head it’s got a good, loud sound. It weighs a ton though lol
Hey David. You probably won’t read this, but I love the content! I am a DIY enthusiast and a musician, and I really dig all of the projects, hacks, and demos you do! Keep it up, man!
those floor toms especially the lowest sound sic!! and the crasher hats sound also decent, maybe getting thicker on those cymbals will do the trick. have a good one
You're like the Adam Ragusea of drums and music in my honest opinion, looking at music science like nobody would and not afraid to venture out of the norm!
Man sounds pretty bloody good to me! I started frothing over Benny's crasher hats then googled how much they cost and immediately Shat myself.. and here I am.. reckon I'll give this a go 👌 Shame on you Benny Greb 😔
He was never sponsored by them, in fact, this line he said in another video sums it up quite well : I’m not sponsored by meinl, I just think they make cool stuff
Make a wooden high hat cymbal. Something that sounds good tapped with the tip. Resonant. Perhaps with multi thickness areas for different pitches. Hardwood I suppose.
Cut large cymbal down asymmetrically to 14 in one direction and 20 or whatever in the other. Use as top or bottom hat. Compare sound when struck with stick to splashed with foot. And compare to regular 14 hat closed with stick.
You all have spoken, I finally made these!
Thanks!
Make a homemade groove block

Set your sticks up on stands and hit them with your drums.

the grove at 6:26 is so spicy
im dead sure i wouldnt bother to take the sticker off and then complain it sounds shitty for years not realizing why.

Starting my day off with some rdavidr. I may or may not get out of bed today. Thank you.
Hope youve gotten out by now lol
Never seen this much creativity in drums in my life

Love this, a cross between hi hat and hand claps! This is a new percussive sound.
ah extended solo breakdown time, I love your style of drumming
I bent my bottom 14" high hat's outer 1/2" edge to be more flat to allow more contact with the upper cymbal. Sounds RAD!
David, have you think of making a pvc snare drum? Pvc that are used in major city piping... or maybe using thick bucket cut to size. 😯

Pretty Cool, Thanks Dave
This man’s groove is so underrated!

The video I didn't know I wanted. Love to see you getting inspiration from Benny's drumming for your own. Praise the god Benny Greb
They sound cool! Your kit sounds good too! Love it.
You should be hired by Meinl for R and D!!
I would say that is a big ol win.
Great job ! You made that combo sound amazing.
and very nice drumming, too
Dude the whole groove is killer. The lil stack sounds amazing
Put one rivet in a bottom or top hat cymbal. Adds ambience when kicked and left open. Your left foot and hat is in any event another crash cymbal.
Cool result.
Sounds great. Very nice groove too.
Another great video and project. That is a sweet sound you have on that set up there! 🙂
Nice job, David. I really like the sound of that little fella.
I was saving money for buying one of those chashers stacks. I´m gonna try make my own with my old cymbals.
Good idea. I’d like to, but I don’t own a drill and would probably just end up doing this wrong. Good luck, man.
That drum mix is reaaally good!!
If you run the hole saw backwards it still cuts the metal and does not grab. Nice and clean!
I love your videos I always learn something and I usually want to try it out after I watch. Great job!
Hey David, make some PVC octobans and come up with an inexpensive mounting system.
Dude , keep making diy drum vids ! Especially for cymbals . They are flippin awesome
Looking to do this myself with some old cymbals I have. All B20 but not worth jack. Might as well put 'em to use
Great video David. Those floor toms sound amazing! 🤤
Really loved your jam today
Awesome. I think they sound good
I enjoyed these types of videos and content a lot more than the product review channel this has become.

Zildjian version of Meinl crasher hats

You should have grinded that cross pen hammer slightly rounded to avoid those marks on the cymbal.
Really nice!
Really nice job! You should be a cymbal maker. You definitely have the wherewithal for that sort of thing.
Very nice drum'n
I got 3 sets of B8 hats and a old set of cheap Paiste hats all 14" Im gonna try this out. Thanks
