I they meant that some people just put their name on a snare for the sake of having a snare with their name on when it wasn’t necessary to get a sound that wasn’t available
Benny‘s groove examples inbetween are awesome! The groove at 11:35 is something anyone can play, but it takes a lot to play it as convincing as Benny does
It’s the Tama MXA53 X-Hat Attachment. That piece of metal on top that lays sideways can be flipped up for an open hi hat sound or down for a closed HH sound. Very innovative product
Trying to understand this. So much (good) explanation about all the work that went into the ride - thinner ride but thicker pronounced bell. But then you dampen it into oblivion with those meinl magnets? Have you ever put those on a ride? Completely chokes it to the point of sounding like you’re hitting a metal rail. Would love to hear the explanation as to why the magnets and then actually hear the cymbal with the magnets.
*EDIT* Nice to see a drummer who actually plays his signature products EXCLUSIVELY.
Many drummers put their names on stuff just for marketing reasons
Gavin plays his signature snares.
A lot of players play their signature products. Weckl, Portnoy, Sucherman, Vinnie, Gadd and more.
Who doesn’t?
Silly comment

12:29 is the best part of the video in my humble opinion.

Amazing interview! Loved the explanations from BG! Awesome snare sound 👌 🥁🥁
2:03 that pop on that snare my god
I have the newer beech snare. It’s incredible.
Was ist das für ein Teil in Minute 11:06, das auf den 8" Crashern befestigt ist? What is the part at minute 11:06 that is attached to the 8" crashers?
