I Made My Own Clap Stack

- The Clap Stack from Istanbul has definitely caught the attention of a lot of drummers! I figured I would take some old cheap cymbals and make my own. Of course the 2 are completely different but the DIY version still sounds pretty cool and is a cool use of old unused cymbals!

What do you think? Think I should try it with some b8 cymbals next?
rdavidr yesssss
Would sound cool with a ride
Yes
I think the brass is little quiet. B8 should be louder, I would think.
Yea
You do some amazing things! Off and on the drums!!
Bro, just knowing you watched me play makes me embarrassed 😂 I cant rip like you haha

@@seansterling325 same yall are awesome
It doesn’t sound so much like an actual acoustic hand clap, but it does sound like an 808 electronic clap, which is pretty useful.
that's the point
I can't really hear it over the snare but that might just be my speaker. Where are my k bears?
I found them just in time for him to do the other demos of course
@@billmint8122 I thought the point was to sound as close to an actual hand clap as possible. Why else would he keep comparing it to a real clap if the point was for it to sound like an electronic clap?
I think it would have sound better if not as high pitched? Would be nice to add a way to make it way less snappy, seems that's not possible yet
I came here for tacos. Because your thumbnail led me to believe there would be tacos. And there aren't any tacos.
So...I'm not sure where we go from here, David?
Me too 😵but its a good thing im into music so im here to learn now 😎
🌮here u go
@@adenmcdooflez Wait what's that smell?!? Oh shit son it's a taco, there is a god or just a really nice person...thanks🙏😋
Stinky Tacos. Band name. You're welcome.😅
Burrito
so this is a mexican video, some tacos, salt, lemon stuff (amoniac) we only need tequilla.
he even threw some mexicano in there... next video will be how to make a burrito sound like a bell, maybe?
Me encantan los tacos.
Ahora necesitamos un presidente muy, muy imbécil. ¡Oh espera! Estados Unidos y México ya lo tienen.
_Jajaja; sí, pero: ¡Los tacos se acompañan de coca-cola!_

the character development on brass cymbals during this video is incredible
A drum pad is the more sensible option, but this would definitely make your guitarist question your sanity if that's your thing (and that is my thing)
I don't consider needing a pad, module, and speaker for one sound to be more sensible. At least VS just buying one.
I’d rather have a clap stack than a pad because it would be way cheaper and easier to play because you would need to put it through a bunch of stuff and a computer
Me getting an Istanbul Clap Stack was actually my guitarists idea LOL
@@ElijahJohnsonDrums it's not hard it's mostly done for you
@@lancesvensson1703 or really? I might start looking at octo pads if they aren’t as hard to setup as I thought they were.
At 6:25 this song was so chill it instantly made me want to start studying. 😂✍🏼📖☕🎼🎧🖼️
>start studying.
That’s the biggest lie
Dave makes taco shells using a pasta roller. Colorized 2020
That is the beard of a man who drums
It sounds awesome considering that it really didn’t take much. Personally, the audio engineer in me would individually mic it and at effects and really turn it into something a lot more usable
For sure. I debated throwing a mic on it. Wish I did now.
You should do a stacking special. I haven’t experimented enough to truly understand all the hype. You should definitely give us your take on this and the types of configurations you dig and don’t dig. The dos and Don’ts, so on and so forth! The patina this round rocks. Thanks David
I just got the clap stack, and this sounds really close! The main difference for me is in the attack, this one has a bit more of a pronounced snap and a bit less body, but definitely usable and an awesome DIY project! I'd say it sounds somewhere in between a clap stack and a ribbon crasher
Idk if I'm having a stroke or the bass drum is
i cant believe the head fits it
lmao same
4:18 soooo perfect timing
Yep
7:06 that rest was dope AF
Just wanted to say that I love the drum sounds you've been getting in this new studio, sounds fantastic
Always great music on your videos! I look forward to this every time.
Just made one of all old brass cymbals and man it SLAPS 🔥🥵✊🏾
1: it sounds good nice job
2: OMG that track is so cool and you just play it so good
Dude you did it!!!! Your craftsmanship is astonishing. Nice job!
This thing sounds awesome. Great work, as usual!
when you hit it with the snare it sound so 80's , it's amazing that clap is totally acoustic
impressive, this sound was incredible, please bring us more videos like this
Great repurpose!! I have a few beginner kit cymbals laying around and now I have a new project! You rock, Sir!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
I absolutely love the beat you played with the clap stack, would love to have it on Spotify or something so I can add it to all of my playlists
I've been looking into getting another stack for my kit and this might just be the one! Great idea!
You do amazing stuff man, it always sounds really great. Always a joy to watch your videos! Love from the Netherlands.
That is damn near creepy how clappy that is. Thats some magic shakanerry there sir. The Santeria taco.
* chicanery
Awesome. Innovative. Always appreciate brilliant ways to recycle cymbals into something useful. Great job.
Best playing from you yet.
Sounding great, sir.
Sounds great! And I love this crafting/diy/transforming stuff kind of videos. Cheers!
I think your home made stack sounds awesome, especially combined with the snare strike. It really sounds like a clap with the snare! I'm inspired now, and I'm gonna make my own using my late father's hand-cranked metal bending/lathe that he used to build race cars in the 80's!
„Actually unpacks new gear with an axe“
:| Nord man Vibes...
Literally about to do this now. That sounds cool as hell
I love how he calls on Lance , AND , that Lance responds and knows exactly what's up . You two wizards astound me . I definitely think it was a win btw . I have to see if you made a video about that ride . Intrigued .
This is awesome... I could tell you were having fun with that roller.
So awesome! One of your best! Thank you!!
Love it. I would use those any day. I like all sorts of stacks or metal Crashers, so this is right up my alley. Another great job!!
Ngl watching this again it's fire what you've done!! I'd love to see a full version of the demo you did it was dope
I realy enjoy the transition on min 6:10 with the reverse efect on the ride cymbal. The break was mind blowing for me. So simple but effective 👌🏼🙌🏼 greetings from spain 💪🏼
I really was waiting David make this video, so cool
It really compliments the look of the vox kick drum. Everything in the set looks like it melted in the sun.
Wow! Nothing you can’t do. I like the sound of it and can tell the difference between loose and tighter. Also, repurposed drum parts is a great idea so nicely done.
it sounds great man!. cool to watch you making percs
Love the tune you play at the end
I love this channel! Such cool projects goin' on 'round here.
When the song ended right as the symbol you were bending dropped, enjoyed that alot
So glad I found this DIY channel, great stuff!
Wow, sick sounds!!
Turned out awesome. Love the sound.
Love your vids man. Beats and drumming are sick. Fab work n all that is awesome to see too 🤘
Yesss, Dave making things againn! Love it
4:20 nice
Awesome stack. I think it works really, really well.
Everything sounds so awesome now! It was always very good, but there was definitely a shift at some point since the move the new place. Always love this channel.
That's pretty awesome! Sounds great.
Your craftsmanship is top notch
This is amazing. Great DIY project and great video
I always believed drummers are the most mechanically incline musicians. Awesome video and your sporting the re issue VOX drums ...this is crazy! I love this guy! Thanks for posting.
Very cool...always love your projects! Nice work
I think it’s pretty cool. Finding ways to use very cheap or worthless stuff is something that really interests me given how expensive nice cymbals are.
By tightening the wing but I think the subtle difference it makes to the decay is like reducing the number of people clapping. Loose it sounds like there are more hands all landing at slightly different times.
I love the sound of this
I'd never heard of a clap stack before and now I'm entranced...
Slap/clap sound pretty cool, i would totally use this
Nice work, sounds really good.
Very nice. I recently made a tiny clap stack (2.25”) from the cutouts of a cheap crash I ozone-d. Works great. Love your vids!
This is awesome! Stellar stuff!
Love it man! Very cool.
Sounds dope af! Sounds almost like something out of a synth 😮
Thanks for your uploading.I like it.Has a distinct percussive sound.Id use it on my own kit
As for brass,I've found that can have a desirable sound
Videos where you make something whacky with relatively accessible tools while chill beats play in the background are my shit! Always excited when you make these, and it seems like it's not as often as it used to be. I hope you get the creative itch and the time to Frankenstein a bunch of weird drum stuff for more of these videos!! Seriously my favorite stuff to watch
Very sic, love the sound
Great job! Nice kit. I started playing a 1965 Trixon Speedking set in 5th grade, I just turned 56. Had to get something better suited to heavy metal. Like how divider/ support in bass drum gives you two sounds when playing double pedals.
Man, your drum tones are phenomenal.
Pretty cool DIY clap stack. I used to have a Paiste 200 18" China (brass) and it sounded pretty good.
Love the timing of 4:20 for the drop of the cymbal lining up with the backing :) class man
class
Really cool project
sounds awesome.... great track too david!!
id buy one dude!!!!
Excellent work! 👌🏻
Awesome content lately David!
Sounds great. I need one
thank you for the amazing content!!!!!
My favourite UA-cam channel🙌
Always so innovative!
really love the demo for this
Btw this is the first playing of the new vox drumset and it sounds amazing! Love the bass drum sound , real warm and precise.....
Wow, great job!
Awesome video David. Thanks
Sounded better than I thought. Cool process
I had some cup chimes laying around. They were three cymbals i had laying around and made cup chimes out of them. About two months ago I thought about stacking them also trying to get a clap sound and was pleasantly surprised at how close it came to the clap sound. So after watching this video and rolling them flat, i didn't think it was necessary. Just cut three old cymbals of varying sizes and stack them on top and you'll get the sound. Flaming sounds even better since claps are basically a flam of at least one person clapping. The varying sizes also help since they don't stack tightly on top of each other. Mount them upside down and flam to get the best sound. It sounds good.
That is an amazing clap sound to go with the snare
Wow. That turned out so great!
Absolutely love that Vox kit. If I could have an acoustic kit it would definitely be one of those with Roland RT triggers and a Roland TM-6 pro module. I think it would make a fantastic hybrid kit.
Snare sounds so good
I’m really going to try this out thanks
this is amazing. it could be used even as a replacement for snare drum in accents
Sounds great! highly useful I think.
The track and your drumming is 🔥🔥🔥
The beat you got for the demo is awesome
I think it sounds good. It certainly adds a new crunchy voice for unique accenting with, so I would call it a success.
David you are a genius. Love your videos.
