Recently bought some 2 part silicone 10 to 30 shore hardness , poured in bottoms of every cup, bowl, pan i had all different thicknesses, 30 bucks for lifetime supply of varying thicknesses, shapes, and as long as its clean it hangs on cymbals also. Even poured it around the outer edge of my snare batter between the rim and batter groove, let it cure on the drum, overnight, removable too, shocking results, would love to see what you can come up with using 2 part soft silicone

The best snare dampening method I learned from a classic percussionist. It requires a lint free cloth and two binder clips. You just fold the cloth in half, drape it over the top fraction of the snare and clip it to the hoop using the binder clips. How tight the clips are determines how much dampening you'll get. It doesn't leave residues and doesn't damage the head.

The felt pads that are used on the bottom of chair and table legs work well for dampening. They have a sticky side to them and come in various sizes and shapes. It is necessary to clean the area with rubbing alcohol to make them stick. Unfortunately, you cannot remove them like a moon gel.
