I have never heard anything or anyone play drums or even come close to what you do on them. You have the most unbelievable and unique style and I am amazed and blown away ever time I watch one of your videos man. Keep it up and know you are a HUGE inspiration to so many people.
This is without doubt some of the most precise and beautifully dynamic drumming I've ever heard. Major respect man, keep the videos coming! This inspires me to keep practicing!
Absolutely incredible ! Travis, your interpretation of groove and originality never fails. Your a true inspiration, and drums are not my primary instrument at all.
damn! that ghost note pattern at 4:41 has been stuck in my head for ages and couldn't remember where I'd heard it!! I could listen to these rhythms again and again! amazing work!
enjoyed watching you set up the drums. As much of a pain it is to set them up and get them in just the right spot, its rewarding to look down upon your drums once your finished
Bravo man! While the timing sigs are off the charts, the fill combo and ghost snare work on the beat that starts right at about 4:40 is in the pocket sick! Love it, you the man!
Man... I love watching your playthrough videos a LOT. It's refreshing, and inspires me to work on my form that much more. I've experimented lightly with the open toms setup (smaller tom on the left, floor tom on the right) and I REALLY enjoy it, though I have a hard time committing to it full-time, since I've got 4 toms total (1 rack 12x9, 14x12 floor, 16x16 floor, 22x18 floor on the left). But that open setup is incredibly refreshing and a unique challenge! Keep it up, man! Cheers! :)
Hey Travis, I really like how you added in the description that 55 Cancri was looking for musicians, a drummer, being one of them. The only thing I could honestly think on that statement was "Good God, what size pumas would said drummer need to cover that gig?" Very cool video and super entertaining as usual
These sessions with Anup sound so well... I watch your videos for your incredible skills but also for Taylor's incredible skills, and these "no taylor" sessions clearly don't jar, that's the least you can say. Orbin-Sastry is a killer collaboration! Talking of "collabs", can we hope for a "Peterson-Orbin-Imanishi" project one day as it seems you all know each other...?
They're on my website (media/aural/solo tunes), plus I've full performance/tracking session vids of "Cookies & Scarves" and "Project 15" (well, most of it heh) on my channel. If you'd like to purchase MP3s head to my Big Cartel store, also linked from my website homepage. I will initiate a Bandcamp eventually. Thanks!
Of course, it just depends on the music and the circumstances. One of the tunes that I tracked that day featured a whole section of improv (it was for Pete P). Be sure to read the video descriptions, as I usually highlight such instances.
My favorite drummer by a long shit. Came a long way since the Jay Z play-along I first saw him do. I wish SEA would do new material but as long as you're doing SOMETHING with Ordway I'm happy.
Sorry, I didn't see that post. I actually enjoy this song especially the motif that can be found after that VoM- ish break and at the end again. Great job, guys. And no worries: I believe ya ;D
Well it's in GP so it's quite simple: file > export > .bmp. However, after that I squish the staffs together manually before printing, so it all fits on 1-3 pages.
I'm not really sure what you mean by the cymbals "dying", but if I couldn't rely on a mix of both my chart and muscle memory to track this material it'd take much, MUCH longer to get anything down. As mentioned in the description, I did three more tunes from three different artists that day--one of which was Pete P, a nightmare of a piece on par with "Bugz" in complexity--and they were all lengthy and difficult.
hey Travis, for your next video i think you should do the time lapse of the setup again but next time get a second angle going from behind the kit too!! :D amazing complex drumming as always man, always enjoy them
DUDE...i finally realized where I've seen that rug before. It's in my living room haha. (You start noticing these things when you've watched the vid so many times.)
I asked him that on his Wizardry Mind upload I believe, and he said it was simply because his Ref Pure kick was already nicely mic'd and his home studio or Oceanic, can't recall.
Incredible how far you have come and still incredible how good you started. Jay-Z asked you to do a gig yet? Even though your playing with "easier" technique in that video (Crossed hats), your playing has tightened up tremendously, like it could be any tighter.
As a drummer, I can confirm this. Also, great work with Zelliack, the EP is literally one of my favorite things I've ever heard.
The section from 4:41 - 4:53 is amazing. Love the ghosts notes and that flam fill is stunning.
This is so calmingly mathematic. It's like doing Sudoku.
+BenjaminTheBatchelor hehe
Absolutely sick. So musical it hurts. Well done bruh!
Was watching Anup's Titan and thought that's the same room as this - went back and checked and there he is! Can't believe I never noticed before!! 😂
I have never heard anything or anyone play drums or even come close to what you do on them. You have the most unbelievable and unique style and I am amazed and blown away ever time I watch one of your videos man. Keep it up and know you are a HUGE inspiration to so many people.
Just FUCKING PHENOMENAL!!! Wow! You never cease to impress me man!
The engineering on this track is done so well
Absolutely incredible performance, Travis! Great progressive song as well. Keep up the fantastic work, mate.
Travis let me just say that you are one hell of a drummer. Your skills are mind-blowing and it is always a treat to hear you play the drums.
Still one of my absolute fav tracks, you recorded. The sense of groove is so smooth it hurts.
+difquin Thanks, man.
This is without doubt some of the most precise and beautifully dynamic drumming I've ever heard. Major respect man, keep the videos coming! This inspires me to keep practicing!
Oouuuuouuuuu Yééééééé !!!!!! Du lourd, du lourd, du lourd !!! Merci Beaucoup pour ce pur moment de Bonheur !!!! De la balle !!!
ahh, I always feel inspired to keep pushing myself to be better after watching you nail tracks like this. thank you!
Absolutely incredible ! Travis, your interpretation of groove and originality never fails. Your a true inspiration, and drums are not my primary instrument at all.
Love the little notes you put in the description. Makes watching it the second time so interesting.
damn! that ghost note pattern at 4:41 has been stuck in my head for ages and couldn't remember where I'd heard it!! I could listen to these rhythms again and again! amazing work!
That riff starting at 3.08...God, that just sounds so good!!! Great stuff!
Who needs "emotion" when you're this good?
Subbed. Great music.
@Wade Davis - his programmer didn't want to waste the hard drive space adding emotions when he could double the complexity algorithms instead.
All your playthrough videos are awesome, but this is probably my favourite one. This tune is just amazing, and the drum parts...i mean...WOW!!
I completely forgot about this. This video is what made me a fan, one of my fav videos of yours.
Man, I could listen to this nonstop.
Your sir are very impressive! Every video you upload just blows me away. You have so much talent and you lay it down so well! Great job man!
The drumming makes this song so much better.. Killer chops as always man!
So great to hear you back playing this kinda stuff..
enjoyed watching you set up the drums. As much of a pain it is to set them up and get them in just the right spot, its rewarding to look down upon your drums once your finished
And god that's a killer bass drum tone from a vision too!
My favorite kick tone of your vids so far.
I love when you and Anup work together. Really liked this one, Travis.
Two of my favorite drummers that I've been constantly watching and somehow I missed that you guys were even associated with each other?. Awesome!
I haven't seen left hand snare control like that in a while 4:50 . Every note and hit is so precise and perfect! Keep it up man!
Bravo man! While the timing sigs are off the charts, the fill combo and ghost snare work on the beat that starts right at about 4:40 is in the pocket sick! Love it, you the man!

Can't wait to buy and listen to it! Keep up the good work!
man everything you do is incredible. Thank you so much for the inspiration with every video
Damn Travis you friggin smoke it man. Your phrasing, exciting sections that build and the song itself is just killer. Nice.
+Steve K Cheers!
Best thing I have seen on youtube in a very, very long time
Surprisingly low views for such a quality drummer. Easily a million view video.
Amazing! Great sound, great job, great drummer!
now i can die happy watching travis set up his kit
Love the snare sound, it almost sounds like an Anvil!
cleanest drum sound ever, awesome job
watch this still in 2016 .. and it's still amazing, Orbo :)
+LimpBizkitDrummer Thankya kindly!
Great work, man! Both with the video and the playing of course.
i really like your intro the the vid, something different inspiring performance, your kit sounds amazing Anup is the man
Oh my god those ghost notes at 4:43 make my mind explode.
Hey Travis, I really like how you added in the description that 55 Cancri was looking for musicians, a drummer, being one of them. The only thing I could honestly think on that statement was "Good God, what size pumas would said drummer need to cover that gig?" Very cool video and super entertaining as usual
great music, great composition, great drums and great guitar player ;)
So tight! Thanks for sharing
I loveeee the ghost notes!

Omg bro! Thats insane! Incredible job!!

That was frigging amazing man! Instant sub.
I love how you include notes in your videos.
amazing work dude, wow!!!
AWESOME!! This was so good!
Of course, it just depends on the music and the circumstances. One of the tunes that I tracked that day featured a whole section of improv (it was for Pete P). Be sure to read the video descriptions, as I usually highlight such instances.
You never fail to make me feel like an inadequate drrummer.
Time to go practice haha.
Thank you! It s just a demo. We are working on the final version and the new one should be available soon through bandcamp.
Anyone else feel Veil Of Maya's Pillars at 3:42 ?? Hahaha
Great job as always Travis!!!
Travis Orbin recording with Anup Sastry. Two of my favorite drummers hanging out. So cool!
2:35 to 3:36 very nice music, melody and ryhtm!
Amazing! Loving the hi hat pedal ostinato
GREAT sounding mix
Exelent Play and Great intro-setting up! Awesome man! ;)
Love your playing bro!!
My favorite drummer by a long shit. Came a long way since the Jay Z play-along I first saw him do. I wish SEA would do new material but as long as you're doing SOMETHING with Ordway I'm happy.
@iPlayDrums I just came back to watch this video 7 years later and just saw the typo LOL
He probably just can't comprehend the awesomeness that he's hearing.
The fact that you sight read makes you such a better drum than most
Sorry, I didn't see that post. I actually enjoy this song especially the motif that can be found after that VoM- ish break and at the end again. Great job, guys. And no worries: I believe ya ;D

Cyclamen style - I love it !
Anup´s Studio? hell yeah! what a couple!
You are the fill KING sir.
I love Your style !
This song is amazing easily my favorite.
Fantastic.

Masterpiece.
I'll check it out for sure thanks for the suggestion.
@travisorbin the part at 6:38 with the snare is ridiculously fast. So awesome
Reading his descriptions always helps ;)
hey Travis, for your next video i think you should do the time lapse of the setup again but next time get a second angle going from behind the kit too!! :D amazing complex drumming as always man, always enjoy them
Fan-freaking-tastic!
Very nice ~~~~ Best sound~
I guess it's Anup's house that provides such great videos and awesome sound quality :D
4:46 is the most saucy drum fill ever recorded. i cant even handle it.
awesome and complex stuff, gj!
Incredible how far you have come and still incredible how good you started. Jay-Z asked you to do a gig yet? Even though your playing with "easier" technique in that video (Crossed hats), your playing has tightened up tremendously, like it could be any tighter.
Hah, nah. Mr. Royster has that job well covered!
And I thought I played drums! Haha great work!!
love this
Great mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!
outstanding.
very cool stuff 😊
Travis! Just thought id let you know that your videos made me a better drummer! Ever sense I started playing open-handed it hasn't been the same haha
Amazing
4:46 sickest fill EVER!
A bit late lol but does anyone know if this project has ever seen the light of day?
