It makes sense. As monstrously skilled as Travis is, he's far from a household name. It's only when you get higher up, more well known, that they'll start giving you more than a significant discount on gear.
If I remember correctly, Pearl is notorious for not giving out endorsement deals that are completely free. They’ll give out endorsements deals a bit more liberally to less well known artists, and the artists can get stuff fairly cheap, but almost never for free. Idk. I’m sure Travis could snag a bigger deal with a different company, but he also doesn’t do anything by accident. He’s using Pearl because that’s his sound, and he probably feels comfiest there. If he wanted a DW deal, or something else of that caliber, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to do so.
I remember Jojo Mayer saying in one of these setup tour videos he made, that he had to buy his own sticks from Vic Firth. Like Travis said here, you have an Endorser/Artist discount, but you still have to pay for the products you use. Marco Minnemann on the other hand, said he gets a cut from his ProMark signature sticks sales. I think it differs from artist to artist, but in general, unless you're a top celebrity, you might have to pay for your stuff more often than not.
I don't know if anyone has said this, but I'm 90% sure Travis is Periphery's original drummer. I keep forgetting he's been with DH for a while now. I've been a fan of him for years. His setup is so cool.
Awesome! Always happy to see Orbinator featured. I love high-end gear & new tech like anyone else, but what's more impressive is when that is secondary to just MONSTROUS talent and hard work; the art must come first. Killin' it, Travis!
All my respect and admiration to this guy masterfully , mastering on drums, total genius and total virtuosity . Total dominion on drums ..like Bobby Jarzombek and Virgil Donati.
Love that he still rocks a mid level price kit, it's actually pretty sick. Especially since it's a touring kit, probably takes some of the stress off having to not lug around a $5000 kit that is gonna get beat up potentially. I have a Tama starclassic performer birch set, and they do cut really well for not a lot of money!
Pearl vision kits are really very good I can see why he still uses his, nothing wrong with them & with a few ‘upgrades’ they definitely hold their own up again more expensive range in pearl series 👍

The idea that pearl doesn't pay fully for his stuff is mindblowing to me. That dude is at an insane level.

@@ZachShannon1I would argue the "higher up" , more mainstream would be accurate.

You’re right but it’s a popularity contest not a talent show
The god damn Orbinator. Most underrated drummer there is for sure!
Dude birthed an entire drum style that a lot of MASSIVE drums have emulated over the years. Probably the most influential drummer of the early 2010s
My all time favorite drummer.
Such a creative drummer

Yes he was then went to do his own thing then Matt came along!
Yes, Indeed! now he is my private teacher/mentor of the drum-set. life is good!
I'm always happy to see Travis get any recognition as he truly is one of the most unique players out there and just a beast on the kit.
Insanely under appreciated drummer. Travis is a prodigy.

Very well put!
I actually stole the idea from him for the backing track rig and to this day it's still the most reliable thing I've ever used lol
This is my favorite drummer ever.
I love this man. He deserves full endorsements
A gentleman, a scholar, and one heavy hitting m’fer. Hear Orbin on our last album VOIDS and our upcoming album Growing Fear.
It’s odd I been recently watching old skool vids of him in Sky Eats Airplane .. and I see he’s still kicking… it’s just lil coincidental
Such a beast!
Travis is one of the best drummer and my Idol.

Would love to watch any live clip of him playing together with Periphery 🫶🏽

this guy is the original drum machine.
Love

The blue tape over the bass vent hole is for the connoisseurs only
I’d love to see Orbin on a TAMA or DW blasting away. 👏 Very underrated Drummer. phenomenal! You should watch this guy play Absolomb ( periphery)
Ual amazing Drummer
Travis is amazing obviously. But I gotta just shout my boy out for understanding what an endorsement is.
Zildjian, Pearl, get this guy some new gear already!
The orbinator
Them guns tho
"A little more length, which I like, and the tips, which are BARRELLED tips." lol
The most serious dude on business drumming.
