Anup, it's so nice to see you respond to some of your comments, and none is needed here, but man, you are SO inspiring. You're, without a doubt, my favorite drummer. You play from the heart, and it shows man. This is what a drummer sounds like. I don't have the words. Please stay the course and do not stop!
i don't care about gospel chops, blast beat, rudiments what ever!! listen to his grooves and tune..... so Catchy. we all knew that drumming isn't a competition but ANUP you are the BEST.
you should be so proud anup. 30 years of listening to metal and I was bored. you have reinvigorated my love love of metal with intelligent skillful drumming. Congratulations mate.
THIS - Man, I thought I was really done with music, I was so sick and bored with everything and the "New" stuff that was coming out (Around 2012) was sucking even worse! But then I stumbled into this channel by sheer luck - I was not looking in the right places. I think the first progressive song I ever heard back then was Soil by Counterparts - sick! That song really got to me and still does to this day. I just learned how to play it and it gave me a huge boost in appreciation and enjoyment of this song. I know that Anup was in that very first search that I did back then and when I heard his sounds and found out that he does not play guitar but writes all of it (I believe all of this is him) well lets just say that I was confused, (how does he come up with this? How does he make it sound so awesome?) impressed, and happy that there was actually good music out there to find! Now I can barely keep up with everything I missed along the way as well as all of the new stuff. I often hear people repeat dumb stuff like "all music nowadays sounds that same... too perfect... etc... and I think "Have you heard of this guy?" I can name about 2 dozen bands that all have absolutely unique and amazing music. Probably could name dozens and dozens more as well, there is a ton of great stuff out there - perhaps these folks are looking in the wrong places much like I was... And I want to say thank you Anup! Music is so important to me (and probably most humans) and your sound is completely awesome. You helped me get through so many years where I really needed something like music to help pick me up. And the way, there is a guy that goes by "Wide Eyes" here on the UA-cams that is a fantastic guitarist and often records in a staccato style that reminds me of what you are doing; have you heard of him? If not check him out!
I've watched alot of drum videos, from the all time greats down to the current heros of our time, but there's just something about this performance. Hands down my favourite drumming video ever.
Seriously the shining example of what playing drums is. His incorporation of style, simplicity, and overall showmanship would make ANYONE stop in their tracks, forget what they say, drop jaws when they hear him. Let alone SEE him perform. I love you, Anup. Thank you for helping me understand.
One of my all time favorites . Was lucky to get on board when he first started posting videos.. PRODIGAL GENIUS.. since he was 16 . Holy Fucking Hell .
Thanks man! Means a lot! Im pretty happy with how this turned out. I normally over-process things so much, and I did my best to cut back on that this time around...
asdrummer2008 I absolutely love it! The drums have so much more punch and clarity. I think you learned a lot with this release and I hope you keep this sort of sound in the future.
asdrummer2008 really nice job!! but as a hint - look at round about 2:00 and following. your bd gate or trigger lacks sensitivity. i can see your right foot doubles but don't hear them. keep on the good work!
Eric Chesek dude, you have no idea. I personally play a pearl reference pure. I just added the 6.5x14 reference brass to my kit and its a nasty drum dude. Same snare hes using in the video. definitely grab one
Since my comment, I rewatched almost every day this video. It's absolutely mind blowing, the music, the drum parts, your style.. I'm thinking about to make a cover
5:59 RIP chipped piece of drum stick :O - This song is sick btw. Gonna save this EP for when I'm in class tomorrow, turn a boring class into something epic.
Decin Townsend alluded to the POWER of your strokes. And I hope everyone can appreciate how truly amazing your technique is. The sound you get out of the kit is sooooooo good.
I like that you named the EP Titan. I listened to the whole thing and I gotta say, the song Titan is really, really mindblowing. I liked it the first time but I think by the time you read this comment I'll have heard it at least 20 times. Each time a bit louder and now my headset reached its full capacity. Its night here so I cant wait till tomorrow to blast this peace of art through my studio monitors. Been a long time since I was baffled by a composition like I was by this one. As a producer and big fan of every kind of metal, this is really top quality. I dont want to do your other tunes wrong, but I really hope more like "Titan' will come. Favorite song for the years to come I believe. Much respect
Some people can play Matt halpern and some people can just “Matt halpern”. This guy is simply in a league of his own with Matt halpern. Kudos. You my friend can djent.

Yes, sir. That's just like John Gallagher in the early Dying Fetus days. Did you know that he programmed all of the drums for Animals As Leaders' debut album, too? Also, fun fact; did you know that the song "Facepalm Mute " was essentially entirely written by Spencer Sotelo? Periphery never ceases to blow my mind.
Damn man, almost a year after your "Ghost" play through and you've improved so much in all areas of drumming, mixing and writing songs! Just goes to show what persistent dedication can yield for you. Keep it going dude! I bump this video every day, the tones in your drums are basically theraputic hahah.
This is just one of those songs that can't be touched, it can't be altered in anyway it's a masterpiece. So catchy too! And it had that dramatic drawn out ending like almost every intervals song good shit!
I don't know why, but I love what you did there at 2:51 hahaha. It's like you were really concerned about the timing of that china hit, yet I still had some time in between the hits to duck and cover thinking about the chance that the world must implode upon the initial hit. idk
Those fast singles between the feet and hands (eg. 4:08)... absolutely sick man. Best in the biz. Edit: You and Matt Garstka should have a battle (and film it of course).
@@FuCkInGWhItEcHaPeL I dunno man. Telling the doctor that "it" (I assume, he means the birth and/or the child) would be more impressive if he (The child, the father, the doctor?) were actually human? Also, "was" and "were" are interchangable words anyway.
I'd love to tour my own material. I've thought about it a lot as well. I just don't have the budget at the moment. A lot of my motives and inspiration lately has been to stay in the studio working on my own music and with other artists. But I'd have a lot of fun playing this stuff live.
I remember when I used to think that snare roll at 0:26 was mis-timed. Now, I acknowledge the fact that it's just played too quickly for human ears to comprehend.

Purfect Anup we go 🚀🌅🗽💪💟
Man you really play each cymbal like each is there own note.. Crazy cool the way you can draw the sounds from one to the next
It is so good to see a technical drummer play heavy music with so much feel. That makes such a difference when observing. He takes you on the journey.
This is drummer music! :) I love it!

hes misha but the drum version
Interestingly, Misha started on drums and even played them live before getting Matt on board.

One of my favourite songs. Great for cardio!
14k subs is a joke for a drummer like This.. Awesome job dude!
drums sound amazing. Loved seeing how immersed the drummer got in the music. It's the best feeling.
Selecting the 'Synthesis' ending in Mass Effect 3 finally payed off. This man is proof. Kudos, fine sir... this is incredible.
This guy is an absolute pleasure to watch drumming.
the playing was so friggin intense, even the camera was trembling 3:40 onwards
Those kicks hit me deep in my chest with good headphones. My goodness!
this would be more impressive if you were actually human.

I'm not that much of a fan of such genere but this guy's drumming is absolutely incredible
1:00 then 4:30 watch the light on the floor under the china cymbal lol.
Oh damn! Great catch! I was waiting for someone to point that out! hahahaha!
asdrummer2008 haha ive never noticed anything like that before in your videos.
hahaha..nice catch dude chris sheen :v

Can someone please give me some info for all cymbals, name, inches? Peace
I'll take a stab at it, just going by what it looks like on the video:
15" Meinl Byzance traditional hi hats
17"? Meinl MB10 medium crash
20"? Meinl Byzance Dark ride
18"? Meinl Classics Custom crash (maybe extreme metal crash?)
17"? Meinl Classics Custom Extreme metal china
Stack: 16"? MB20 heavy crash or medium heavy crash on top of maybe a 18" classics custom china.
