    I have had the most frustrating experience ever messing with this machine. BUT tonight I think I have finally figured it out the solution, at least it worked for me anyway. If you haven’t already done so, you need to check “THE SIPHON EFFECT” on your drain. Because I had previously experienced the drain hose coming out of the wall with a previous washer I had shoved this one way down in into the wall when I got this new GE washer. Apparently it cannot be too far in or it will create what is known as the siphon effect. What was happening with mine is it would fill and within a minute there was only inches of water in there for almost the entire remainder of the wash load. There was no way the clothes could possibly get clean with such little water levels. So I backed the drain hose way back out of the standpipe to the 7” GE recommends, and believe it or not that has solved my problem as far as I can tell. It was an immediate fix-so simple I still can’t believe it!! It would definitely be worth a try if you haven’t already checked this. That explains why I never had more than a couple of inches of water in the wash tub no matter what- - because it was emptying out to equalize the pressure as soon as it would fill, that much more would siphon out and the pump was never even engaged. Which also rendered deep fill useless. I sure hope this can help someone who’s had as much hate for their brand new GE HE “Deep Fill” machine as I have! 😤

    I just bought mine and I’m still learning. The machine does add more water as you go through the cycle. I will report back when I’m more experienced.

    I was having the exact same issue. I was about to call GE and have someone come and look at it. Good thing I didn't because I figured it out myself. My drain is in the floor and my hose was suppose to be 30 inch Above the base of the washer. So I rigged it up and now it is filling the way it is suppose to. I was hardley getting any water in the drum at first and notice it was filling and draining at the same time. So I moved my hose and now it works PERFECT!! I don't have to mess with the deep fill!

      My drain is on the floor as well. Can the drain stay there? I just have to move the hose right?

      I had mine for 3 yrs and just recently had this issue. We recently moved our washer and somehow our hose went further down. I just moved it out some and now it's filling perfectly. I think I need to buy a stopper of somesort so it doesn't get pushed down again.

    It says in the manual on Page 11 "The Stain Removal Guide feature allows you to indicate what stains are on the garments in your load. This feature
    incorporates a patent pending treatment method. An initial water fill is performed at a temperature tailored to the stain type
    selected and to an amount which enables a concentrated cleaning step. A stain scrubbing period, followed by an active
    soak, is conducted to effectively treat the stain. Then additional water is added to the selected temperature and the wash
    phase is conducted for the cycle selected" which means--- a small amount of water is added and then it agitates to get the stain out, then it soaks, then it fills to the level chosen. Also, it says in the manual that for bedding you should use BULKY setting which will do Deep Fill and Deep Rinse. The extra time is added to the wash cycle because of the fact that there was a stain setting chosen and it needs to do the small amount of water/agitation/soak cycle then wash.

    Lady omg, I have this washer, it’s amazing. You set your cycle wrong, when you were about to press start you accidentally hit power and turned it off, when you started again, you also accidentally hit the grass stain remover, that’s why the water is so low. You didn’t see that the stain guide was on, yes hold the deep fill button down and it will fill the tub COMPLETELY, nothing is wrong with the machine, it’s that you hit the wrong buttons

      I tried the machine for an entire week using every setting, and I could never get it to fill past 5 inches, most of the time it would fill with 1 inch of water.I read the manual many times And tried every setting not sure if it was a defect in my machine. My plumber checked it out and I also have the water company check my water pressure everything was fine on my end.I returned the machine and bought another model. I’m still not happy mine only fills 5 inches of water, and there is a deep fill on that one as well. What I have to do is haul from the kitchen 5 buckets of water And the machine is still only a quarter full.

    I also wanted to comment about the stain settings. It's my 64 year's young opinion that you must scrub a stain out manually before you machine wash. There is no machine on earth that will get a deep stain out without human intervention!

    The water is actually in the tubing. It’s to help stabilize the washer so it doesn’t get off balance as easy and you have to put the water level to extra heavy and turn on the deep water and hold it in

    I just sent this washer back because of the water level. Yes the owners manual said the water may not cover the clothes and it didn’t. Deep fill don’t work on normal mode per customer service. And the run time is longer than a regular machine. To me this machine is not good, GE could have done a lot better For a machine costing over $650. The only thing I like about this machine was the see through top. I agree with what the lady said .

      @lmal8207 6 років тому +1

      mike miller u obviously never owned a calypso, when u use the Stain treat option it wouldn’t use it lol get your fax straight dude. It would spray water and then spin and agitate without water or recirculating pump for about 15 min and then it would fill and recirculate the water . Stain treating is mainly pretreating clothes with soap and u let it sit for a while before washing. Look it up dude, it’s on the back of every soap bottle. And if your using you tube comments to simply argue and bash other brands simply cuz u don’t like them then u should get another hobby my friend. Sure SQ is great (not the new versions) in my opinion, to each it’s own, but I wouldn’t say it’s the last damn coke bottle in the desert.

      Ross Kulma It never filled beyond 5 to 6 inches of water. I read the manual many times and tried it all ways with all the settings. The only thing I can think of that could be the problem is if the “fill” has a timer on it and not a water level sensor . The water fills slowly. I returned the machine and bought a bottom of the line washer. It still fills the same , but the machine agitates the clothes better. I am resorting to adding 5 gallons manually with a bucket. I wish I could get my old washer back! I should have just paid to have the old one fixed.

      That’s about all you will get from one of these he washers. Your washer has a waterfall that baste’s the clothes from the top. Not all cycles will deep fill. The water you hear sloshing is used to balance the tub in the spin cycle it’s not in the tub.

    So glad you posted this. I am building a new home and have been shopping for new appliances for 2 years. I thought I had made my washer choice but after seeing this it's back to the drawing board. I really do not think there is such a thing as an automatic washing machine any more. Its been my experience in the last 15 years that all of them are "babysit" only unless you don't care that your clothes aren't being washed. I just fill the macine from our laundry tub after it senses. If I fill it before it senses then start to wash the machine just empties all the water out and then I must start again. I also add water at the rince cycle so that it has enough water to rince. Our current machine is a Whirlpool. My mother had a wringer type machine and I'm certain it was a lot quicker to do a load of laundry in the 1950s. Hope this comment helps someone.

    There is no physical way to remove the water when the pump is below the waler exiting at the wall. If you wish to remove all water the hose must be lowerd to the base board near the floor or habe the water exit through the floor move the exit hose on back of machine to the floor also. That is the omly way to pump out everything. A one way check valve at exit may help a bit there is no pressure back ward to activate the valve the water left in the pipe will trickle back into the machine.

I do not want a washing machine for 25 years that does not clean laundry .

      The 2018 SQ are NOTHING like the previous models. They have gone off the deep end and pretty much destroyed what made people want to buy their machines. They have removed the transmission and the brake, and have turned them into a cheap HE washer like this one, except they charge $1200 for the privilege. I have a pair I bought brand new in late 2013, and I absolutely love them. I will keep them going until kingdom come since I can no long get a real Speed Queen anymore.

      You buy a machine based on the literature and reviews that are available to you. Just because the manual says it will work a certain way does not mean it actually will. It's a crap shoot these days when it comes to buying any new appliance. And they only last about 3 years without problems if your are lucky. Manufacturers are fully capable of making an appliance that will work right and last for a long time but they won't because it is not profitable for them or their shareholders. It's all about turnover. In other words forcing you to buy another one as quickly as possible in our throw away world.

    He washing machines are actually computers which wash your cloths. New Obsolescence Management dictates shorter life spans of High Efficiency Top Load Washers. After 3 years of use, my control board malfunctioned on my Maytag machine. Replacing the board would have cost half the price of a new washer. Technology comes at a price - so, I purchased a new He machine on sale at Lowe"s Home Improvement. :) ... No one wants to go down to the river, and beat their cloths on a rock.

    (Update) saw this after my comment. (Go down to Comment 24 by “Michelle Bouse”) SHE EXPLAIN EVERYTHING YOU NEED TOO KNOW AND PAGE NUMBERS FROM MANUAL. You’re not letting it run long enough in the feel. If you would just start your washer with holding the deep fill to do the maximum water it will fill up. You selected the stain feature. That’s the reason your washer just fills with a couple inches of water and then starts agitating it thinks it’s got stains in your sheets so what it is doing is putting enough water in your washer to dissolve the detergent and it’s doing what’s called a high concentrated wash. It’s washing the sheets in a very high concentrated detergent to water ratio. It’s trying to get your stain out of the clothes. After it runs like that for about 3 to 4 minutes it’s gonna start filling again and if you let it go it will fill all the way up and then start the regular wash. You said it yourself in your own words you wish you could just start the machine and walk away from it, that’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re not giving it enough time to get through the concentrated wash to remove the stains. Just one time do the cycle correctly and just watch it don’t open the lid and close the lid. Every time you open the lid the water turns off and it Has to reset therefore you might be the problem that it’s not sensing right or it’s messing up because it’s trying to sense with the Weight constantly changing every 20 or 30 seconds Because it keeps adding more and more water

    • @ArtLadyChannel
      @ArtLadyChannel 2 роки тому +1

      I wish that was the problem but it’s not. I had it for over two weeks and tried every single cycle, watching it, not opening up the lid. It would only fill up 5 to 6 inches. I read the manual. I did the deep fill button the way the manual said, and it still didn’t work. That’s why I returned it. I made this video to show others that just because it has a deep fill button doesn’t mean the Machine fills up Enough to do a large load of wash. I bought the same machine but the bottom of the line without the glass top, and I use a hose and fill it up. That was the only models they had at Lowe’s. The Lowe’s attendant said all washing machines fill up with almost no water. Unfortunately the HE washers do not use much water. Therefore I couldn’t put two sets of sheets in without it not washing properly. Additionally it wouldn’t even wet all the clothes. With this type of a machine you can only put a few pieces of clothes in. I’m a full-time working teacher and mom, and I do not have time to wash three things at once. I need a washing machine That will wash a large load at one time.
