It's not as rare as the DSs discussed in this video but I'm the proud owner of a limited edition Pepsi DS 1000 of these uniquely colored consoles were given away in Japan in 2005 as a promotion for Pepsi Twist. Each one came with the console in it's own aluminum case and with a pair of Pepsi earbuds. It goes so hard and I'm glad my nearly four year search to find one worked out 😤
That's the entire reason why I own a copy of that game. When I found out about the legal shenanigans, I bought a copy before stores were forced to pull it from shelves. It's not particularly valuable or anything, I just think it's funny to own an illegal COOKING MAMA game of all things.

The Virtual Boy's development was just sad. Gunpei Yokoi (aka the creator of the Game Boy, the creator of the cross shape you see on D-pads, Metroid, Game & Watch, Kid Icarus, etc) was in charge of it and he KNEW this thing was a disaster and needed more work but Nintendo just had to get it out the door, so Yokoi ended up taking the blame for its failure and definitely quit of his own free will and wasn't made a public sacrifice. There was a game series created and produced (but not directed) by Hideo Kojima called Boktai in which the player character is a vampire hunter named Django who drags vampires' coffins. There was in Japan a special edition GBA SP which is half-black and half-red, nothing too fancy but the kicker is it came with this sweet-ass coffin-shaped case that could fit in either a GBA or GBA SP in (the shape fitted both) and 2 slots for the Boktai games themselves in. I have to say, that shiny metallic 'real' gold (plating?) looks weirdly cheap compared to gold-colored plastic. For one thing, the second anyone so much as breathes near that finish, it's going to pick up a billion fingerprints and at least one random scratch, to say nothing of actually _playing_ with it.
To be fair to Dave Mirra, he probably figured that whoever won the GameBoy would want to display it rather than actually use it, and I have to agree with his rationale there because that's what I'd do with it personally.
A lot of people also seems to forget about the Game Boy Pocket Fiorentina, made with the partnership of the Italian football team and it was a Limited edition with 2 games included and only made in 300 pieces
From what I have heard. Why cooking mama was removed is because there was a whole copyright issue and rights dispute/fight over the IP and Cookstar lost hence the change
Very nice, I don't own any custom consoles, but I do own 3 nintendo dev kits that I will be showing on my channel in the near future. I guess those are rare. Thank you for the cool video!
I think my favourite console variants, rare or not, are those weird branded retro consoles from back in the day. I'm not talking the ones themed after like, Pokemon or whatever, I'm talking the Toyota Gameboy or the Tommy Hilfiger and Lunchables Gameboy color. I just think it's so funny that those things exist, like, imagine if Nintendo came out with a special edition Honda console today. That would be hilarious.

I REMEMBER G4. They used to play reruns of Japanese competition shows like Ultimate Banzuke and the original Ninja Warrior and Iron Chef. Damn. That was really dug out of my subconscious
He returns, when we needed him most 💪
I have to say, that shiny metallic 'real' gold (plating?) looks weirdly cheap compared to gold-colored plastic. For one thing, the second anyone so much as breathes near that finish, it's going to pick up a billion fingerprints and at least one random scratch, to say nothing of actually _playing_ with it.
I appreciate the music choice. Really takes me back to the head space i was in when these events took place
Wow, this was actually very thorough and efficient. Dude just earned a sub
You know its a good day when Carlito uploads :)
To be fair to Dave Mirra, he probably figured that whoever won the GameBoy would want to display it rather than actually use it, and I have to agree with his rationale there because that's what I'd do with it personally.
RIP Dave Mirra, BMX on Dreamcast was great. The songs were good too. ❤
Incredible 1 is my fav movie and I will kill for it
A lot of people also seems to forget about the Game Boy Pocket Fiorentina, made with the partnership of the Italian football team and it was a Limited edition with 2 games included and only made in 300 pieces
damn, i want that star fox assault gamecube. that thing is awesome.
Real
From what I have heard. Why cooking mama was removed is because there was a whole copyright issue and rights dispute/fight over the IP and Cookstar lost hence the change
Great video man, I actually learned a lot from this! I've never even heard of so many of these! Keep up the good work!
Dude i love the gold wii has big family games next to it in almost every pic
8:20 coincidentally this game also has the BEST SONGS EVER… the Buck Bumble main theme is SO GOOD
Very nice, I don't own any custom consoles, but I do own 3 nintendo dev kits that I will be showing on my channel in the near future. I guess those are rare. Thank you for the cool video!
Living up to your channels approach I see 👀👌🏽
Making me care about topics I'd probably not even think to watch vids on
I love the candid attitude in this video "yeah, you can't find them. They're fucked". Just straight to the point 😂
i was vibing with the video so hard i didnt even know it was our boy carlito explaining gameboys to me
I think my favourite console variants, rare or not, are those weird branded retro consoles from back in the day.
HE’S BACK!!!
Can't wait for coney to watch this video on stream over the course of 3 hrs
Helll ya, I checked your channel yesterday wondering why I aint being suggested anything, its cause ya aint been uploaded. What a great saturday surprise.
“Given away on the MTV show itself.” Bruh, it was a network. What show? 😂
I’m freaking liking your content a lot. I can see this channel booming soon.
Yet another banger from carlito
I just HAVE to imagine that the Trackmania DS went to someone who said the obvious answer of "Dude imagine playing Trackmania... IN A RACECAR ON A TRACK!!!!" and ugh...
I'm sorry, but my own hypothetical answer pisses me off. So corny. I'm super mad at the person who answered this and got it (source: crack pipe).
I've had this in my Watch Later for a few days and I'm finally gonna take my time to watch it. By the use of your vocabulary I like it already
Yeah, that Dave Mirra GBA is pretty ridiculous. But maybe now it's worth something since he's not alive anymore, unlike the other two guys.
Back in the cable days and when youtube wasnt as big, G4 was literally the best. I miss that channel
babe wake up new carlito video essay ‼️
It's not a lot, but my gameboy color was a special edition yellow Tommy Hilfiger one, and it was cool as hell 😎
you missed the game boy micro. only 2.9% of all gameboys ever sold were micros. some of them are rarer than some of the ones in this video :) amazing job with the video, loved watching it :)
I had no idea about 99% of these consoles lol. So awesome
I was offered that golden Wii many years ago for £500 before it started being sold online. But I am not interested in limited edition consoles, I was only interested in the GameCube development kits that the guy was also selling.
Wait there’s a Nintendo switch made out of mercury with mewtwo joycons? Who thought that was a great idea.
Not just looking at it... the whole video kept bringing back emotions for me with the sound's i could never forget and have a love 4 i can not properly describe, every time i hear even a snipit of the many sounds from donkey kong country snes i feel so sad and extremly happy at the same time as i know nothing like it will ever exist again.
Love cashman. It's one of the short side comics of Toriyama, and the story is crazy: an alien cop comes to earth following a criminal, but ends up crashing. Unfortunately he's out of fuel to get back on his planet, but its present on earth! Too bad it's gold. So, he start acting as a superhero, helping those in need...for a price. Great read
17:40 In some places like canada, it's completely illegal to have a give-away or pure games of chance. to skirt around these laws, companies will ask super easy questions like "what is 1+2" to "give it some skill". I bet the company giving them away just added these easy questions so they could both appease the lawmakers and add a cute little twist to it.
That’s an interesting idea. That’s like how people open a laundromat to do money laundering lol Jk
I love your video and honestly this is so slept on It was an amazing video!!
This may not be a Nintendo product for consumers. But I have a mint condition Nintendo M8 Demo unit with its original shipping box
Great video! Well, except that G4 shade. That channel was a God send back in the day. Remember, it was before UA-cam and Reddit
The virtual boy may have failed miserably but that Wario land game was pretty fun.
Super rare GameCube. Says "Delivering the graphics power for Nintendo Gamecube" and has ATI's logo on the top.
Pretty cool and I love just having it.
Not sending them parcels and neither the guards or the queen’s team believed that it was true that an order from the monarch was placed. The palace of Buckingham refused to receive it. so the queen never got it and it ended up in the hands of a collector and 8 years later sold it for 300,000
13:05 I think we all knew that Generic, I mean, Jan-Erik, wouldn't win.
19:19 Wait, he had already won in 2000? Dang, Mark's a hero now, stopped that guy from getting a repeat. Unfortunately, Joakim was just too powerful, it seems.
I totally both drew for that Game Boy Contest and put the sticker on mine. What an awesome idea.
Retro Rick just interviewed and went through a gaming room and the guy is the new owner of the Mario/Bowser Nintendo Wii, there is also a dark link we with bedazzle studs as well
It’s because of People like you that we have to watermark our photos. Using images without owner consent and being rude to top it off. Congrats
interesting to see all the crazy consoles
Eyy! Great video :D Thanks youtube for finding me this gem !
Treated their handhelds to this guy's a real gamer hell yeah brother
FINALLY SOMEONE KNOWS WHAT G4 IS I WATCHED IT TOO DEATH
10:37
"Dude they must have been pissed... I hope they made whoever screwed this one up keep the incredibles console..." OMG my belly still hurts from laughing. Enjoyed this video so fucking much.
The magazine “forgetting” to give away the consoles was more likely them keeping the consoles
sweet ass video dude this is pushing me to finish my own projects
