My fiancé and I are making the trip across from the UK to Bali in October, whilst also planning to work online and build our business. Joose... I've been coming to Bali since 2017. I didn't come to find "paradise," but actually just needed a break from the Orwellian USA. I ended up meeting my future wife (by chance) who has 2 daughters, Javanese, and through crazy circumstances for which I took care of a bad situation, we unexpectedly meshed into a family. We've always lived in Denpasar, as opposed to the popular areas that bules like us gravitate toward, like Canggu, Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud etc.. It's been a long, difficult road for me, brother. I'm not wealthy, which means I was 3 months with my family, then a few months working in the states, then again with family, etc., back and forth. We just moved to a bigger place because our girls need the space and are getting older. It stresses me out everyday. I feel your pain, albeit maybe different reasons, but Bali is not immune from bad, depressing days. Even this evening has been sad for me. My lady is upset with me (for nothing,) I spent more money than I have on this move, the girls are too busy being girls to care about my being "Daddy" sometimes, even. Many things get me down, even here in Bali. Geography won't be the solution to life. Yes, I've experienced the paradise of Bali and Indonesia and I love this beautiful archipelago of Indonesia (and it's amazing people,) which I am fortunate to even say, but family life in Denpasar will really take everything a man's got in him.
    You need alone time. That's a good thing, take it. My family and I are near Kerobokan/Patas area if you ever need to talk to another bule with bad days like you are having, you are welcome in our home. Best of luck to you, brother.

      I'm happy for you that you found a wife here, must be a beautiful thing to find a family like that! Even if it's hard sometimes, remember how lucky you still are. Relationships are the most fulfilling thing in life in the end, keep good care of them :)
      And yeah I agree, Bali is beautiful and there's so many amazing things here and people are suoer nice but it doesn't fix the bad stuff inside us long term, we need to look inside to figure it out even here! Thanks so much brother I hope the future looks bright for you also🙏✨

    O Joose, feeling so sorry for you and I felt it right the last time I reacted on your previous vlog. I notice a lot of 'youngsters' are struggling and I think I wrote it to you before: wherever you go, although it's like paradise (and it really is over there), you take yourself along. I hope you will find a way to 'survive', be happy again. I think the main problem might be your finances. Because by not posting so much vlogs anymore you will loose subscribers (I think). But the pressure of posting all the time isn't right at all. And all these people commenting in their reactions: "O, you're living the perfect life"....think you don't want to disappoint your followers and were given them a wrong impression. It's really a big step being honest now, to us but more important to yourself. I'm not a profesional expert, but a 55 year old mum of a son of 25 who has Asperger. Saw and see him struggling also, a lot. But he has to find his own way, just as you have to do. It's nice that in this modern world (now I really sound very old) you can make money with al these social media things, but it gives a lot of pressure too. With less followers you might have less income; maybe renting a smaller/cheaper accommodation is better for you, if that gives you the freedom you need for yourself. I'm just writing down what is coming up in my mind, feel sorry that it's so difficult for you right now and hope and hope that you will find a good way for yourself. And if that is with less followers in another cheaper accommodation then so it is (look at the people on the island over there: they don't have much material wise but they are happy). The most important is being happy with yourself; and for having a relationship I think that's a very important thing too. Don't make that 'dream' bigger; you first have to be happy with yourself and then you can give your love to someone else. Searching for it won't help....
    Wishing you all the best, take your time!!! I will be glad to see you in another vlog but only make it when you really feel it's the right thing!
    Do the things you love more often; meditating and walking are for free, so as reading (okay, you have to get hold of a book, ask friends!).
    But you told us that you're doing that more already, perfect.
    Be open, don't pretend to be happy when you are not, talk. And when there's no one, do it like in this vlog: talk to us and we will try to help you with our comments. It doesn't always have to be 'the perfect picture', because life isn't always perfect, on the contrary.....
    GO FOR IT, JOOSE!!!
    🙋

    • @JooseTheNomad
      @JooseTheNomad  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! UA-cam is not even the way I make living now, it's Instagram, so it only makes sense to create here woth less pressure and more heart❤️ But yeah I want to be honest here and show how the 'perfect life' really is going and maybe we can all grow together! Monwy and success is not the most important thing in life, happiness comes from inside✨

    I’ve arrived in Canggu a month ago and I am feeling the same way I understand exactly how you feel. Something that helped me is finding a place that feels more like home where I can cook and take a break from the outside world. take so alone time and prioritizing my well-being by cooking, meditating, doing yoga and not spend my energy mindlessly. You are great. I wish to see honesty like that more often on social media. I had the exact same feeling when I lived in Bali for a year in 2015. So many great people, interesting activities and opportunities. There is a certain pressure to do a lot of things every day. After about 8 months I was very burnt out and tired. It helped me to withdraw a bit and do things for myself (especially if you are rather introverted, this is incredibly important). Saying no more often is certainly a start. Wish you all the best!

    Thanks for being so honest! Often it just looks like the perfect life because nobody is showing his struggles on social! I was feeling like this on my last big trip, overseas to Colombia. Traveling there in this beautiful country, diving, secret islands, everything was just amazing. And I felt lonely, although I was surrounded by nice people... I felt horrible, like something is wrong with me. And I can also relate to the need of being alone. I love meeting new people, I am really outgoing, love having plans. But if I don't plan in enough time for myself and being alone, I start to feel without energy, canceling plans, stop answering messages. I hope you find your balance soon, the first step surely is to realize, and it sounds like you already did that

    This is so relatable! I often felt the same when I was traveling long-term. Why is there still this emptiness, even in this 'paradise'? I've found that we all have a God-sized hole in us that no one can really fill but our creator alone. Meeting Jesus face to face in prayer is something miraculous that the world can never offer. Keep being honest to yourself, that's very bold! Wish you all the best and I really like your channel.

    You are not alone. Nearly every single struggle you mentioned, I am living it too.
    I started following your channel while I was still living in the US and planning to move to Bali. I've enjoyed all of your content over the past few months, you've done an amazing job with the vlogs and showing well-thought-out and interesting content. However, this vid has been my favorite yet. Your vulnerability in showing the dark side of Bali living is brave, admirable, and humanizing.
    In this IG highlight reel world we live in, I deeply CRAVE the story of someone struggling, because that's what I know to be REAL and relatable to my life. I absolutely love your content, and I will tune in whenever it is available, whether that's twice a week or twice a month does not matter. You owe me and the rest of your followers nothing.

    As an introvert, I totally can relate to how you feel! A practical suggestion; why don't you travel to other places in Indonesia for a change? For example, go to Jogjakarta, a city full of culture and ancient monuments, but also a lack of large expat communities. This way you're can REALLY be alone and immerse in the local Indonesian (Javanese) culture. Or heck, visit Jakarta! Maybe the chaos of big city is just what you need, to appreciate the beauty of Bali again afterwards. Lastly, if you still need your vitamin sea, try to visit Belitung. It's beaches are beautiful and unique, but also it's largely a local tourist destination. But the people are very friendly and the price is affordable; it's truly a hidden gem. Good luck!

    Been hearing the same for the 32 years I have spent surviving and learning and growing spiritually living on Bali.
    We used to say if you haven't survived 4 years here you haven't made the transition yet. We did not have phones, motorbikes, places to sleep, or white bread and smoothies. We were not allowed to work, immigration harassed everyone, and all thought we may be spies if we used cameras a lot. Yet I had spent the time to read the few books on the Balinese and their culture and beliefs.
    First I learned to travel on the old transport bemo vans from village to village. Usually, 23 or more packed in with some chickens, ducks, and pigs. Second, you get Bali belly, the next day find an apotik and they all have medicine for it and get fixed in two days.
    Next sleep free in the village by politely asking the village head to sleep in the open walled-roofed Banjar structure.
    Make sure you cover yourself with Autan mosquito cream legs arms hair and face.
    Use your sweatshirt and backpack for a pillow. Usually, you can enjoy meeting some locals there and may get some rice and veggies for free sarapan. Then hop on the next bemo to the next village, town or wherever.
    That's just the beginning. I got no sympathy if you do not think that life must revolve around Echo Beach Canggu and you need others to talk to and a girl.
    Find yourself first, watch listen learn from locals, not other lost souls trying to survive in the same boat you came in, with the same goals, video and smoothie needs.
    I still only use a computer or phone turned on a few minutes a day.
    Watch the flowers in sunlight happiness, smell the wind near the ocean until you can know when fish swim near you. Smile drenched in a rain or thundershower.
    Feel the life all around you.
    Stop feeling important, kill the ego, root your spine into the ground become one with the earth.
    God there is so much great stuff to learn and the older Balinese are great teachers, spend time with them in villages.
    Bring some balloons for the kids.
    They do not even allow you to read learn Sikala Niskali until you are over 55 years old.
    Your just a young puppy, learn to listen, learn to study the religion, crafts, art, family unity, rituals, kite flying and be content with the journey. Even the cricket fights, rooster fights, surfing, soccer, Feel sorry for yourself in Paradise, make me laugh.

    i understand the feeling. for me what works in similar situations is, taking a break. i mean a real break. i have to be put in an environment completely different from what created burnout. different people, experiences, food, etc. the new experience kind of shocks my body and mind. and this new experience must be something I really look forward to. so basically i shock the system with something i really really like doing.
    i have noticed I get burnouts like this every 2 months. so if I don't take rests every 2 months, everything in my life suffers. the rest takes 3 days and it is enough for the coming 2 months.
    i would advise you to observe yourself during this period and see how your emotions react to different things. all the answers are within you. you just need to be open enough to see them.
    Also Tony Robbins's 6 Human Needs method helped me to find what i was missing.

    Hello my friend. I also live in Bali but I'm older and I will tell you that your problem is not related to Bali or anywhere. You are just experiencing a post traumatic stress. This doesn't happen only when bad things happen. Some people suffer from this after having a child or getting married etc. It is just because of the big change in your life. The good news is that this will pass. The headache comes from the stress, also the bad sleep. The Bali belly is not related but stress can also give you stomach problems and suck all your energy as well. Its just your body thinking that you are in a constant state of protecting from something bad. But this "bad" doesn't exist. But you body feel like it does. The fact you cried when your plane landed can be a signal that you are on the edge of emotional feelings. Try to relax. Exercise. And most important: stop thinking about tomorrow. Tomorrow doesn't exist yet. Tomorrow you deal with tomorrow, if you know what I mean. Live for today. Don't worry about something that doesn't exist yet and you will be happy. Once again, read about post traumatic stress on situations that are supposed to be good. Reading helps you to understand and once you understand what you have you will deal with it. Hope this helps you.

    Read about the Ley lines and you will understand. Bali is a massive energy vortex. Everything in you will be magnified and held up to you like a mirror. It will crush you or it will make you rise to your truest version of yourself. It will take time, but it is what you have been sent here for. Even if you do not know it yet. For me that journey took me years ago to Uluwatu, where I stayed and surfed for 6 years. And where I slowly shed everything I thought I knew about myself and discovered spirituality with Balinese friends. It is not an easy journey, but a call from the soul to begin your work. SO many people have experienced it here, it is not a place like any other where you will face yourself so strongly. I have been around the globe a few times, but Bali is really something else energy wise. So embrace whatever goes on in all its magnitude, good or bad, tons of lessons you will learn if you keep your eyes open and many hard ones too, but it is part of growth and finally realizing, accepting and healing it. All the best!

      They KEY is to trust the (divine) process. That is indeed my daily mantra. I trust that everything happens in the exact right moment for the exact right reason. And if you don't get it, that same lesson will be repeated on a more intense level. It nudges you, then it slaps you, then it kicks you and finally you yet smashed with a brick on the head: and then you either wake up or get destroyed. For me disaster had to struck until I finally learned, and now I'm grateful for it, because I needed the hard lessons to break out of old patterns. Only if you don't trust the process, if you try to control, struggle against it, try to escape it or feel like a victim, that's when things get worse. So to save you a few years: trust the process and relax into not knowing. Because your journey is yours to watch, learn and grow. And have a good laugh about it or cry. It doesn't matter. Just allow it and trust. And as you see, things are already shifting, because you start to understand that taking care of yourself (not everything/everyone around you) and spending time in silence is the gate to start the inner journey to reconnect with yourself. It's the most difficult thing ever --- to face yourself. But then you will live, and not just exist.

    Joose have you solved this problem by now? I think what you said about enjoying stuff too many times is definitely true because this just have never been a problem to me. Whenever I get something nice, I'll always go back to a more relaxed time where I face reality. It can honestly take like a month long cool down before I do something interesting again. Maybe that's my heavily introverted personality or something but that's just how my rewarding system works.

    • @JooseTheNomad
      @JooseTheNomad  3 роки тому

      Yeah that sounds very healthy! And yes I don't have this problem anymore how I used to. Have been very happy lately without the rollecoaster ride haha. But of course it's still hard to find a perfect balance here with everything but that's fine😇🙏

    Don't feel like you are bound by these things. This feeling in the long run drains the energy from a person. I'm advised you to take a break and promise that it will not exceed five days and please keep the positive energy in you , go and have fun and sleep when ever you want and you will back with full energy

    It’s complicated but happens to most people. If I may give you some suggestions, don’t think too much about yourself, about your own happiness. Life should have purpose too. Try to make others happy and it will create happiness for yourself. Small and easy step that will give you big impact : Adopt a puppy! 🐶. Your life will be different.

    • @JooseTheNomad
      @JooseTheNomad  3 роки тому

      Haha would love to adopt a puppy but I can't as I'm not in a position yet to be sure I can live here long long term and have a house. But yeah that's actually another thing I have been struggling with, to find my purpose. But maybe sharing honestly my thought and feelings on UA-cam could be that. Maybe it would help lots of people! Anyways, thanks for the comment🙏

    Take a break and after you feel better just upload anytime you feel like it, even once a month is fine.
    No need to force yourself.

    Hi Joose, I am an introvert, and like you, need my alone time to recharge. Something like the programs run at Amrtasiddi Ayurvedic Centre in Ubud for rejuvenation and finding clarity of thought may be worth considering. Take care.

      It's a health retreat...detox, rejuvination. Ayurveda is an ancient form of medicine using plants, healthy food, yoga and meditation as our medicine.
      You can probably do a one off appointment to find out more and check out the place. Dr Sujartha is very intuitive.
