My "boring" simple life in Bali makes me so happy. No urban city living for me.

  • We moved to Bali, Indonesia, about one month ago. In this video we share about our slow living lifestyle here in Bali and what we stay busy with each day. Vitaly and I are both very much homebodies and we each have our own hobbies and activities that keep us busy in Bali at home and in the neighborhood. Our lifestyle may seem "boring" to many people more attuned to the faster pace and excitements that urban city living revolve around, but I very much prefer what we have now in Bali, Indonesia to urban city lifestyles. Our preferences definitely tends towards a simpler, slower life that is close to nature, and personally I definitely like a slightly more traditional, old-fashioned approach to life, with less technology involved. I left a corporate legal career across Singapore & Dubai for this life and it took me almost 10 years to make a proper transition away from my former existence to my current lifestyle, but no regrets. What we do now leaves me happy and fulfilled everyday.
    Some life choices can be difficult to make, and then to execute. However, I truly believe that with enough self-understanding, one should be courageous to make the right decisions for one's life and through that, find contentment and happiness. I wish all of you out there watching this video, the same fulfilment in life that we feel here in Bali.

    Hi guys, if you enjoyed this video about my "boring" life in Bali (lol) and what I said resonated with you I just posted a video detailing 3 realisations about MONEY $$$ which kinda liberated me from my "mental trap" regarding my "awesome" corporate Big Law job and kinda was the pivot to my actual resignation. Very nice video that truly resonated with me. I quit my successful technical sales career last spring and am now traveling the world (currently in Malta...Bali is definitely on my list). I found my way out by trading high risk high reward penny stocks which I only have to do when I 'feel' like it (but I love it Lol). For the rest, it's all about being in the moment and experiencing whatever life brings your way. Be well and good luck with your projects.

    I appreciate your lifestyle choices as i retired at 49 from corporate life in Singapore to stay in Malaysia. We chose a piece of land overlooking a golf course and built our dream house with a pond in the courtyard. We are happy whether it rains or shines because we harvest both the rain and the sun, with solar panels.
    Being in touch with nature, we are happy, contented and never been healthier. i get involved in Chinese medicine, meditation and Buddhism. I also do voluntary service to lead 2 class action lawsuit for defrauded investors. I realize that people who can stay in the present and go deep inside can be happy by themselves, they don't really need to seek outside companions or stimuli to be happy. Take care. Cheers.

    Really admire what you are doing. It has taken me (too) many years to realize that complying with what society demands as being successful in life has not made me happy. I am currently scaling back to live a far more basic life, one in tune with nature rather than working against it and reduce the stresses of modern day living. I wish you both the very best on your path.

Quit my corp job in tech industry, was secure, got paid but also got anxiety, stress, depression and as you put it - I wasn't necessarily happy. I quit my job, put my focus on starting new and I am doing UA-cam full time. My depression is now gone and I wake up excited more than than the next. Never looking back. Your 'boring' life is my end goal lol. I was thinking more like the Philippines but it's just a thought right now. Going to travel the world and do food reviews while traveling. Hope to make it big like Mark Weins so I can sustain that lifestyle. I too wanted flashy cars and houses etc but material things don't give you happiness and I realize this. Just wish I realized this sooner. Oh well, we all have one lives, it's better late than never. It's a shame that we (I'm speaking for people in USA here since I'm from here) are brought up to learn certain things and taught to live a certain way but they never teach you about working towards your goals on the spiritual, mental level. It's very materialistic - the things they teach. Not sure if it's like that for the rest of the world but it's clear that money and things drive everything in the states. Marriages get broken up because of money and things... I mean really? I'm not married but shouldn't that bond be stronger than material things? Sorry just went on a little tangent there lol but you get where I'm coming from. Anyway thanks for sharing and commenting!

    I too love my simple life, although it might be boring to some. I am on my third and final attempt of early retirement, going on 3 years. I found that I was not ready for this life style on my first two attempts. It's not for everybody, and as the saying goes ... I am not for everybody and I like it this way. It had been a long journey to get here and I am loving the happy bliss of my simple and boring vegan life. The fact of hanging my laundry on the clothes line to dry earlier this morning reminded me of how lucky I am to live this wonderful and content life. I have come a long way from growing up in the war zone back in the jungle of Southeast Asia to adjust into a new life as an immigrant, attending college and had a successful career, and lucky enough to retired early to enjoy the simple life. I live part-time in SF and North Tahoe, two of the most beautiful places on the planet surrounding myself with families and friends while keeping busy with interesting "projects".

      Hi there, thank u so much for sharing. I loved your story! Your start in life sounds so much rougher, I’ve pretty much had it smooth sailing all my life and I hv so much respect for those who had to struggle through challenges in order to come out on top of things. It’s true that early retirement can be challenging. People need to learn how to use their free time meaningfully. It’s a topic I’ve been pondering for quite a while now, possibly gonna make a video about that. But in the meantime I totally get u about the boring simple daily chores giving one happiness. I generally detest dishwashing by hand, but here even when I do it sometimes the thought occurs to me that I’m so lucky to be just here, doing this. Very blessed to have the life we do right now, glad ure feeling similarly. Have fun with your boring simple vegan life! Cheers to that!

Hopefully this will help in giving me that little push I need to start something completely different to what I am experiencing right now. Jean...you are living my dream! It takes courage and honesty to come to terms with what can truly give us happiness. Not everyone will have the sense of adventure and conviction to ditch what our parents and generations of cultural expectations have instilled in us and dive into the pursuit of our dreams. You and Vitaly have something great going in your relationship....keep up the love and support for each other. I'm new to your vlogs, but I'm already a big fan. Outstanding! Congratulations in your relaxed life, it's amazing. I love the painting you were working on, it's beautiful :) Don't ever be concerned or bothered when other people criticize your choices. You make those choices for what's best for you and your husband, not for other people. Other peoples negative opinions should never influence our decisions because their opinions are none of our business. They also cant see things how you see them. You have an amazing life that is satisfying and that's something we need more of in this world. Many blessings to you and your family. Great video!

      Hi Lilis, thank u for tuning in to this one 🙏😄 u're right, one of the best parts of life here in Bali is that the Balinese have made life on the island so harmonious with nature and greenery and its everywhere we go, unlike city life i guess. Even in SG life cannot compare even though SG is also very green, but it still lacks the same kind of harmony in its architecture, design and concrete jungle lifestyle. I hope u can come n spend some time here n find more happiness soon!

      I don't understand comments like this, because it's so flawed. Why are you comparing them to most Indonesian's financial standing when they're not from Indonesia? This is very passive-aggressive and only comes from jealousy/resentment. If you have the ability to make some changes in your life in order to be happier and have the means to do so, why not? Why begrudge people of that?

    • @braham_1137
      @braham_1137 2 роки тому +2

      @@angel3629 Well you just dont know this country well enough. its not hatred, its simply said the truth out of inequality in Indonesia. Singapore is probably has a lower unemployment rate, its easier to find opportunities. It is in a way fuckin cheaper than living in singapore. To us living in Bali or even having vacation there is no different with going abroad, everything is expensive. If Balis cost of living cheap to them, they will be surprised going into another city besides that small archipelago.

    • @angel3629
      @angel3629 2 роки тому +8

      @@braham_1137 Everything you've said has nothing to do with them. They didn't create inequality or unemployment. So why the condescending comment? All they did was work hard, save their money and quit everything to live a simpler life. You make it sound like it was so easy for them to uproot their whole lives, leave all their friends and family, move to a new country and learn a new language. You don't think it gets lonely for them at times? It takes courage and sacrifices to immigrate to a new country.
