Bali has so many things to do for many different people. However, I believe the truly unique aspect of Bali is its culture. Sure it has nice beaches, volcanoes, waterfalls, marine wildlife, surfing spots, nightclubs, resorts and cafes, but the most unique and visit worthy aspect is the Balinese culture. The dances, music, painting, sculptures, village traditions, wet agriculture, storytelling plays are still thrive in an authentic setting. Unlike Cambodia's Angkor Wat, Peru's Macchu Picchu, Burma's Bagan and Java's Borobudur or Egypt's Pyramids, the Balinese culture that created the rich architecture is still alive. Whereas the Incas, Khmers, Burmese and Javanese are not 'living' in the culture that created all those architectural wonders.

Many content creators have highlighted Ubud this winter, however no one has paid homage to the area with such detail, beauty, intimacy and intrigue. It’s been many years since I visited the area; you took me right back there with such joy and happiness. Thank you for your attention to detail and dedication to integrating into the true lifestyle. I agree but the close up photos of locals and people at places of worship felt a bit like you were taking pictures and videos of exotic animals at the zoo. You have to remember these are human people. Would you take a really close up video of a stranger in the UK like that? It feels a bit obnoxious and like you're showing off these 'exotic' people when in reality many aren't consenting or would be too afraid to say no if you ask if you can recrord them!
Wow, this has to be my favorite film yet. I love how you captured the shots of the local people, you can see the kindness in their eyes. Also the monkey stealing the wallet had me laughing so hard, they’re so smart. So glad you got it back. Really looking forward to the next video.

Lovely to see beautiful Bali again, and Ubud. I went to high school in Jakarta and a group of us went to Bali on the 3rd class train to celebrate our graduation in 1973! It was a different world then! Have visited a few times over the years but the last time was 1998, so many changes since then too. Despite that, Bali seems to have retained its essential nature and beautiful culture. My brother lives in Ubud, and if you go back, make sure to try his Ubud Raw chocolate! It is like no other chocolate you have tasted before! We are planning a trip back to Bali next winter and I cannot wait.❤️

Same here. Actually more than 30 yrs. We lived on the Island of Sumatra 1995-1990. The last time we were Bali was probably 1987-1988. I don’t remember specifics from then. We did go to the Monkey Forrest. Have some funny photos from there. I’m going back in May 2025 and can’t wait!
Everytime.....and I mean everytime when I think your videos cannot get any better, you manage to produce an amazing video more spectacular than the last one!!!!. The filming, the music and the commentary is just out of this world. Everything fits together perfectly! This video made me feel...really feel the culture. Some places brought happy tears to my eyes. It’s really beautiful! To be honest, we were a little worried it would be over touristy, and would maybe be spoilt. But it really hasn’t. It’s such a beautiful place and the locals are so kind and seem very happy, which is great! I think it may be a bit more busy at other times of the year, but I don’t think that would take away from the amazing energy it has 😊 Adam

I loved seeing Ubud through your eyes, it is truly one of my favourite places and somewhere I go to reboot and reset. The monkeys are so cheeky, I lost a pair of sunglasses on my last trip, but still worth it to see them :) Gado Gado is the best!!
Yes!! A reboot & reset is a perfect way to describe the Ubud effect! Life feels full but can also be slowed down to a reflective pace. We do really want to go back and base ourselves there for a couple of months. Two very lovely people making a very lovely video in a very lovely place! ☺It was so nice to get to know you and watch this amazing video. Ubud is very special to me as it's a place where I spent a lot of time with my family when we enjoyed long periods of travel together. It just reminds me of my daughter when she was little. We met some great locals and are in touch with some to this day. Things have changed and we're back in the grind of the 9-5, so this video was a lovely reminder of the people and the place and of how lucky I was to live as I did back then. I (Hayley) went with a tour group and we visited the gili islands (gili T and gili air) where you can snorkel to see underwater statues and loads of turtles! ☺️ We also visited Lombok, Ubud, Kuta beach, and we hiked up mount Batur in the dark to watch sunrise from the top. ☀️

Filmed with great sensitivity and an eye for beauty which made it all feel very real and immersive/ As for the stolen purse, it is asking for trouble to carry your purse in your rucksack, readily available for potential thieves. Better carry notes and cards stuffed into a flat waterproof pouch hanging from your neck, tucked down your front. No one can get at it but yourself then. I have used a waterproof see through phone pouch for years !

My mum had the same suggestion. 🤓✨ In my defence, if I was travelling in another country, the wallet would have been put back somewhere much more secure but Bali has felt so super safe that after paying for our entrance tickets, it was not something that even crossed my mind. I agree but the close up photos of locals and people at places of worship felt a bit like you were taking pictures and videos of exotic animals at the zoo. You have to remember these are human people. Would you take a really close up video of a stranger in the UK like that? It feels a bit obnoxious and like you're showing off these 'exotic' people when in reality many aren't consenting or would be too afraid to say no if you ask if you can recrord them!

Lovely to see beautiful Bali again, and Ubud. I went to high school in Jakarta and a group of us went to Bali on the 3rd class train to celebrate our graduation in 1973! It was a different world then! Have visited a few times over the years but the last time was 1998, so many changes since then too. Despite that, Bali seems to have retained its essential nature and beautiful culture. My brother lives in Ubud, and if you go back, make sure to try his Ubud Raw chocolate! It is like no other chocolate you have tasted before! We are planning a trip back to Bali next winter and I cannot wait.❤️

Same here. Actually more than 30 yrs. We lived on the Island of Sumatra 1995-1990. The last time we were Bali was probably 1987-1988. I don’t remember specifics from then. We did go to the Monkey Forrest. Have some funny photos from there. I’m going back in May 2025 and can’t wait!

It’s really beautiful! To be honest, we were a little worried it would be over touristy, and would maybe be spoilt. But it really hasn’t. It’s such a beautiful place and the locals are so kind and seem very happy, which is great! I think it may be a bit more busy at other times of the year, but I don’t think that would take away from the amazing energy it has 😊 Adam

I loved seeing Ubud through your eyes, it is truly one of my favourite places and somewhere I go to reboot and reset. The monkeys are so cheeky, I lost a pair of sunglasses on my last trip, but still worth it to see them :) Gado Gado is the best!!
Yes!! A reboot & reset is a perfect way to describe the Ubud effect! Life feels full but can also be slowed down to a reflective pace. We do really want to go back and base ourselves there for a couple of months. Two very lovely people making a very lovely video in a very lovely place! ☺It was so nice to get to know you and watch this amazing video. Ubud is very special to me as it's a place where I spent a lot of time with my family when we enjoyed long periods of travel together. It just reminds me of my daughter when she was little. We met some great locals and are in touch with some to this day. Things have changed and we're back in the grind of the 9-5, so this video was a lovely reminder of the people and the place and of how lucky I was to live as I did back then. I (Hayley) went with a tour group and we visited the gili islands (gili T and gili air) where you can snorkel to see underwater statues and loads of turtles! ☺️ We also visited Lombok, Ubud, Kuta beach, and we hiked up mount Batur in the dark to watch sunrise from the top. ☀️
So good to see you travelling to and in Bali! A 'slight' change from your usual settings 🙂 Agreed! Bali is colourful, not just the nature, but also the people, the culture, the architecture, everything. There is no other place in the world as rich in all these as Bali is.

As for the stolen purse, it is asking for trouble to carry your purse in your rucksack, readily available for potential thieves.
Better carry notes and cards stuffed into a flat waterproof pouch hanging from your neck, tucked down your front. No one can get at it but yourself then.
I have used a waterproof see through phone pouch for years !
