Greetings Brandon ... I already installed my car audio, now I go for the reverse camera ... so far the best explained UA-cam video on the entire web .... thank you very much ...👍👍😎😎🚘
Thank you! I’m glad the videos have helped you out! 👍
help me bro
Brandon you are doing great install camera car
Thank you! 🙏
You are awesome man, I'm planning to do some updagres on my mom's car :) she has a 2010 corolla S.
I’m glad my videos can help! Thank you 🙏
Thank u so much for this tutorial, it helped me install this on my lil bros car super fast?
No problem! It’s a pretty easy install once you see what you have to do!
Brandon, I just wanted to say thank you for the content you put out! In this video, does the backup camera come with the install kit with the wires to hook up or did you buy it separately? If so, what wiring kit did you use? Thank you so much!!!
I’m glad the videos have helped you out!
And I can’t find the exact one that I had, but this one is very similar, and the backup cameras come with all the wires you need!
Awesome vid, 2 years later working to get the camera installed on my 2012. Installed the same screen as you actually but mine is on a single din and sticks out more? Your screen seemed to have no stereo on it compared to mine? Idk but at least can do the camera now and bring the ol girl to the 21st century! 🙌
That’s strange, maybe they changed up the design a little bit. Because this radio is almost 3 years old!
But I hope this video helps out to get your camera installed!
I just drilled a hole through the sheet metal of the trunk lid near the camera and painted primer on the hole edge. Then after I ran the wire through it I sealed it with RTV. For the ground wire at the back I just put it under one of the nuts for the tail light mount.
That’s a good way of doing it as well! 👍
Brandon can you explain better the part how you connect the Cables please 🙏🏼!
I plan to do an updated video of this in about a month, and I will try to go into more detail on the wiring.
@@BrandonStellmach perfect I already did it ! My Corolla 2010
Back up camera 👍🏼
Ill give you money you hit 10m subscribers
👍
Thank you so much for the good video excellent
No Problem! I’m glad the video helped out!
One more question, I passed the wire same way you did using the lock hole. However, I am afraid of minor gap in lock hole due to the wire, and water can go in during the rain.
Also I realised that we should be good without drilling big hole, just at the bottom make a little space for wire to slide in
I never had any issues with water getting in. You could put a little silicon around the opening to make sure no water get in!
As for the hole I agree. You can just cut a slot just wide enough for the wire to fit in!
Great video mayne. Ur videos inspired me to do mods on my 2010 corolla. Just a question, is the back up camera u installed here different from what the radio came with?
Thank you!! 🙏
And this one in the video is the same as the one that came with the unit!
But I changed it to a new one a few months after that looks more OEM!
@@BrandonStellmach Awesome videos, Brandon. Can you please post the link to the newer camera that you say looks more OEM?
X2. Which one did you end up replacing it with? I assume you didn’t have to run new wire since you could use the existing one
Great video Brandon, through your great review, I am installing a Binize Android 10. My backup camera is flickering, too dark, and SWC setting (learning) is not responding. I watched a few videos but have not found the way to correct it. I hope you or someone who reads this message can help. I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla S. Thanks in advance.
For the backup camera, there usually is a way to change the video format, either in the settings, or in the corner when the backup camera pops up. And try different settings until it fixes your problem.
As for the steering wheel controls, some radios will work fine, while others require more wiring. So if it’s not working with the SWC setting, then your radio might not have the OEM harness needed for steering wheel controls.
Hi, is the camera get the power from reverse light wire?, or camera always get power while ignition switch on?
The camera gets power from the reverse light. So it only comes on in reverse.
My screen is saying no video signal I would love an explanation on this issue Brandon, I know that the camera must be hooked up to the screen successfully. So my question is where is the mistake in the back end? Would I need to try to resplice the wires in the trunk or what would be the best bet?
That is strange that it says that. First thing I would check would be to make sure you have power at your reverse lights. If you do, then I would make sure the splice from the camera power and lights are connected good.
A volt meter will be great to verify those!
Then if all that is good, I would double check that your are using the correct wires behind the radio.
I actually plan to add a new backup camera to my new corolla soon, so I may go over some of the possible problems that may happen.
@@BrandonStellmach okay thanks Brandon, I will try to check everything and get back to you tomorrow. As for the reverse lights I know they are getting power cause they always light up brightly but I’m questioning my splicing ability cause it is my first time doing so lol! Thanks for the detailed response! And I would really appreciate another video if you could make a second video regarding the back up cam but I understand if it is redundant. Thanks a lot Boss big salute from Canada as always 🫡
how do i get the piece of trim above the licence plate off?
It’s been a while since I have done this, but there should be a few screws and maybe some clips behind the trunk lid.
I’m kinda confused about what cables you’re using in the back. I only got a red and black cable that connects to the red port by the camera.
It’s been awhile since I have done this, but I believe the camera should come with 3 wires coming from it. There should be a yellow video where that just plugs into the other yellow cable that comes from the radio, than there will be a black and a red wire. The black wire goes to the black wire on the reverse light, and the red white goes to the red wire coming from the reverse light.
I hope this explains it a little better.
@@BrandonStellmach oh this was pretty much as clear as it gets... thank you so much! I just finished tidying up the car after all that modding. I installed (from your videos) the tablet, the rear view camera, and the climate control lights. I’m waiting on some new headlights and that Apple car play piece to come in soon and I’ll be all set. Everyone saw the new changes I made and they were speechless that this was the same car that was almost going to get junked a few months back. Again, this channel is amazing thank you so much!
Hey man! Could you send me the link or name to the camera you bought on amazon? Bought the same stereo for my 2011 corolla, gonna try installing that bad boi too, but would also like to install that back camera lol
I can’t find the exact one I have, but this one looks identical to what I have. www.amazon.com/dp/B08MT6LTYL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_-gKVFbEPNSW3A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@BrandonStellmach thanks dude! Your vids have been helpful too!
Hey Brandon! Nice to see u again. I was wondering you just used the wire that came with the camera set to be able to connect it to the reverse input and to the reverse light? I thought you would need extra wiring to do that. I was listening to instructions on the kit I got from the same manufacturer that made my head unit
The camera should have to power wires coming out of it, 1 that goes to the back of the radio, and the other one that going into the reverse light.
@@BrandonStellmach I got it figured out. Thanks man and congrats on the new car
@@The_blonde_boithat’s great to hear! And thank you! I appreciate it!
I like your videos, what model is the car and where did you buy the mats?
Thank you!
And my car is a 2009 corolla base model.
And here is an updated video I made installing some nice quality floor mats.
I put the link in the description as well as a discount code if you are interested in them!
ua-cam.com/video/y2HdTpwm590/v-deo.html
Hi, the camera I bought only has one black wire that connects to the screen, and one red wire which supplies power. Is it the red wire or the black and white that supplies power? In other words, which color is the ground and which color is the power supply?
Typically the Red is the power that you would connect to the positive and the black is the Ground wire.
I’m in the middle of this install. I got the camera mounted like yours. However I’m having issues with splicing into wires. What are those plastic pieces you are using to do that called?
I believe you are talking about the Crimp connectors. That I use to splice the wires.
What radio receiver is that in the video. Looks really nice and would like to check it out. Please send me a link about it. I have a 2013 corala
Here is the link to the radio, I know it only says to 2012, but many people have got it for their 2013 corollas.
amzn.to/3LQOJ0D
Hey Brandon! I was wondering where did you mount the GPS from the Android Head Unit? In your last video you put it on top but now it’s not there anymore.
It ended up just falling into the mess of wires behind the radio. it still worked good when I had it there. But I don’t use the offline maps that much.
Thanks brandon can i have the link for this camera plz
Here is the link: amzn.to/3vura4N
Did you get this orange tool, to remove the clips, with the rear camera package?
No, the orange tools did not come with the kit. You will need to buy some!
Is this compatible with a 9th gen corolla?
The camera I installed is a universal camera, all you have to do is make sure the radio you have has the backup wire to hook up a back up camera.
@@BrandonStellmach thanks man
Do u know why my trunk lights and license plate light doesn’t work after the back up
I would double check the fuse, to make sure it did not blow. Or double check that all connections are good!
About how long was the back up camera wire?
I would probably have to say between 10-15 ft. There was quite a bit of wire, and I didn’t have any problems installing mine!
@@BrandonStellmach Great, my unit is coming tmr so I'm excited.
It’s a great upgrade! I loved my radio!
@@BrandonStellmach Also, how did you pop the rear seat up? is it like a clip?
@@exocodm9327 yes it’s just a clip on both sides towards the fronts just try to grab the seat and pull up on it.
Did this wiring without relay cause any fuzzing or any other problems? I am planning to install same Android headunit with backup camera but i found out that i should use relay to supply power to the camera.
When I installed my backup camera I did not use a relay.
Only explicit and simple vid I can find. My hero🫶🏻💪💪
I’m glad the video helped out! 👍
Is this a 12volt camera ? I’m not getting a whole 12 volts from the reverse wire
I’m not sure if it requires a full 12 volts or not. I know they grab the power from the reverse lights.
Hi, just wanted to ask is it waterproof?
Yes the camera is water proof!
hi
one minute 3:41 who put the red plastic in the 2 lines of the reverse line, what is the name of that 2 pieces of red platic. i think put with some tool crimper ?
They are splice crimps. Here is a link to some of them.
amzn.to/46lh9v2
What size is the screen you installed 🤔
9 inch
@@BrandonStellmach thank you 😊
So you need your whole car and trunk basically empty for someone to install a backup camera
Yeah I would recommend it, so that it’s easy to get access to everything to hide the wires!
Have you got carbitlink app that came with the head unit to work? Mine can't get pass the unregistered screen.
Also, were you able to install a compass app and made it work?
Lastly, are you able to put the notification icon on the top in addition to what they had. Like weather temp or even a compass.
I have the exactly same head unit you have in the same Corolla.
I actually downloaded the carlink app, which did not come with the Unit. Which gives me Apple CarPlay. And for the compass I have never tried to get it working. Again because when I use Apple Maps. And the temperature would only work if the radio is connected to the internet. I assume if you would want to connect it to a hot spot that would work. But for temperature I just use the cars temperature in the instrument cluster.
@@BrandonStellmach Can you provide the link to download the carlink app? This app can mirror your phone to the screen?
@@kito1san here is a link to my video installing Apple CarPlay, and the link for the app is in the description.
And this app is only for Apple CarPlay, it doesn’t not mirror your phone.
ua-cam.com/video/p8hxq7UkyuM/v-deo.html
Isn't the angle too low ?..you hardly even see the back street at this angle.
Yeah the angle is kind of pointed at the ground, but you are able to adjust it on the outside to point it higher up.
Hi Were the wires for the back up camera already back there or you had to run them through the car somehow. I didnt get that part. thanks
You are going to need to run them from the radio to the back of the car.
@@BrandonStellmach Oh I see! Thank you. do you run it under the car carpet? sorry never done this before.
@@ammess2033 you will pop up the plastic door sills and run the wires through there, you will see all the factory wires in there and just follow them all.
it's compatible with auris 2008 right?
His will work with any car with an android radio!
I installed mine and everything was working. But one of my brake light went out and the back car doesn’t show an image. I’m not sure what it is. I checked the cable and they look Fine. Do you have any idea what it could be?
Maybe if might be the fuse for your tail lights, try to find the fuse under the dash and see if it has blown?
@@BrandonStellmach I was able to fix. Turn out that the video cable somehow got disconnected. I taped it now. And my brake light just needs a new bulb.
@@zurielbaxcajay2559 okay thats good. glad it was something easy!
Is splicing with the reverse light required?
Yes, because you need to tell the radio when you are in reverse to show the camera!
Hello, may i have the Brand of the radio system you use on this video?
Here is a link to my video of installing the radio. And in the description you will find a link to where I bought it. Bought it is Binize radio.
ua-cam.com/video/pz0ZQbDTHAo/v-deo.html
can you tell me what is the model of your car stereo thanks
Here is the link to the radio!
amzn.to/3vLKLRu
What part of Florida are you from ???
Central Florida.
👍 😎 👍
A Backup camera is nice to have! Worth the upgrade!
how come my screen says no signal? i cant seem to figure it out
If it says that, then it is not getting any power from the backup camera.
@@BrandonStellmach Hey Brandon, im having the same issue.. how could we fix this problem?
Would it be an issue behind the screen or the wiring that gets spliced into the reverse lights so i know where to start
@@bobbylauz1121 nah i fixed it, it was on a different channel
@@brandonrybalnik6291what do you mean? Different channel on UA-cam or in the car?
What is the size of this radio??
I believe it’s a 9 inch screen.
hi what kind of radio u have on your car?
It is a Binize radio I ordered from amazon. Here is a link to my video of me installing it. ua-cam.com/video/pz0ZQbDTHAo/v-deo.html
How did you attach the camera base to that plastic piece?
I just used some screws that were supplied with the camera, and screwed it to the plastic piece!
I have a corolla 09 xle how would I remove that plastic piece to drill a whole ?
Does key knob need to be removed or a hole is premade next to key ?
That plastic piece will slide out when you take off the 10MM hex nuts on the inside of the trunk. And I used the existing hole that the key would fit into. There was enough room for the wire and the key lock.
@@BrandonStellmach Thank you for info , I'll jump into it with more confidence. I appreciate the info will be doing the exact same method to update camera positioning.
This seems complicated 😓
As long as you have the radio similar to mine, it’s very simple. Just follow the video, and if you have any other questions just comment them down below.
@Easily Amused the radio I have is not available anymore, but this unit is very similar to the one I have just updated.

Sunny bunnies
👍 👍
I got the same one as you do, but I’m not able to use UA-cam or play store , it says I need wifi. How do I connect wifi or hotspot ? 🥲
You will want to go to your settings in the radio, so the gear icon on the home page. And then you will click on WLAN. And then you will click on WLAN again. And now you should see your wi-if settings. And if your close enough to your house wi-if you should be able to connect. Otherwise use a hot stop on your phone to create a wi-if network to connect to connect too.
I hope this helps!
@@BrandonStellmach thank you but if I make a hotspot from my phone to my car will I pay more ? This the first time I’m using hotspot so idk to much about it
@@nani4565 it all depends on your phone carrier and service you are paying for. Some offer unlimited data for hot spots. While other limit you to like 50GB.
You will need to check with your phone service and see what you are paying for.
But from my experience, you can either get Apple CarPlay or android auto, and I never need to worry about connecting to a hot spot or a wifi.
@@BrandonStellmach ok thank you, i ended up connecting my phone hotspot to my car. It works just fine, thank you again for the help
