    All I needed to know was how to get the radio out. Thank you for not giving your life story before getting to it! 👍

    Very good video. I have also found you can go through where the light mount is. Works great and doesn't leave a hole

      Also for apple car play do you need the parking brake wire to be at least grounded?

      That's my question too. 2 years later. I just got this radio and would love a definitive answer. Guess I will find out

    All I wanna know is do you need the clips that come with the head unit that are for the trim pieces on the side?

    Doesn't the backup camera have a smaller disconnect right before the inputs? Most of them have that so they can get into tighter spaces.

    I connected the green parking brake wire (back of the head unit) to the green wire connected to the parking brake. However, when I put the car in reverse, the Boss camera does not automatically show rear view though I can press the camera button on the head unit and the camera is working. Is my connection reverse connection bad or my parking brake connection? Thanks.

      The wiring to the parking brake is for watching a movie or whatever when in the car. The wiring for the reversing camera view must be made to one of the back up lights. The red traveling wire that comes from the back up light must be connected to the purple input on the back of the head unit. Only then will the reverse camera view be activated. See 15:49

      @@TheOriginalMechanic Thank you very much...I think I've previously wired to the brake light.

    I didn't see the parking brake setup. Can you ground the parking brake wire on this model? The kenwood I am replacing is just grounded to the ground on my harness

      I never wired the parking brake on this unit. Perhaps another viewer did.

    I was wondering does the camera hook up to the one that comes with the car or do I need to buy one for this stereo specifically also does the Bluetooth connect automatically or do you have to do it manually each time?

    • @TheOriginalMechanic
      @TheOriginalMechanic  Рік тому

      I used the camera that came with the stereo and it worked fine. I didn't set up the Bluetooth but I think you have to pair it to your phone manually and just one time.

    So what do you do with Boss’s 12v power connection on the back? Doesn’t that eliminate needing to tap into the reverse light?

    • @TheOriginalMechanic
      @TheOriginalMechanic  2 роки тому

      I don't recall using that connection on the install. I used the power from the reverse light to activate the camera. Not saying there isn't another way, but this the standard method.

      @@TheOriginalMechanic I’m realizing I didn’t connect the reverse trigger wire to anything. So my camera has power but no trigger. Hopefully that’s the fix!

    Mine doesn’t pick up any radio stations and the steering wheel controls don’t work any tips?

    • @TheOriginalMechanic
      @TheOriginalMechanic  Рік тому

      Make sure you connected the antenna wire to the unit. It's easy to forget. As for steering wheel controls, I don't have experience wiring those in, but I think it would be a wire or wires that need to be connected. I would check the install manual or maybe Boss' website for help.

      I don't do that for a reason. I take care to include the part numbers in the video instead. I hate to always see a few internet billionaires getting all the business when there are small internet companies and even local retailers trying to make a living selling the same parts.
