അവസാനത്തെ ചോദ്യത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ച്.....

This quarrel among different streams of medicine is pointless. I know that you guys don't give any credence to personal experiences, but here goes...
When I was a student in IIT Madras way back in '75, I was admitted in the campus hospital with high fever and after about a week, I was diagnosed with jaundice (funnily, it was a sweeper woman who detected it first). After a few days in quarantine ward, I was instructed by the doctor to shift to Royappetah General Hospital. One of my hostel cooks saw me when O went to pick up some clothes. He and the ambulance driver hijacked the ambulance and took me to a നാട്ടു വൈദ്യൻ specialised in jaundice. He applied a paste made from some herbs on my upper forearm and tied a tourniquet around it. I was asked to keep it wet for 24 hours. I took the train for my hometown same evening. Within a week I was cured.
You may scoff at it, but it is domething real for me. I shudder to think what may have happened if I had gone to the general hospital.
Since that experience, I don't scorn any type of medicine. If it works for someone, it is real for that person.
What you had was likely Hepatitis A. It resolves on its own whether you had herbal paste or had gone to Royappetah General Hospital or just recuperated in the hostel room. So it is just a personal experience, which doesn't count as evidence.
@Suresh CG, Sorry to say, scientific knowledge doesn't mean that one has scientific temper.
Jaundice usually heals on its own after peaking at a certain point, unless you have some underlying liver issues, which unfortunately is common. You seem to have got the herbal treatment just as you peaked.
@@java97 it's easy for you to say this with hindsight. I can still remember in what state I was then - I could hardly walk. If, as you claim, my sickness would have been cured on its own, why did my doctor throw up his hands? He told me that the campus hospital was not equipped to treat me and that's why he was sending me off to Royappetah General Hospital. And to make matters worse he was extremely rude to me (of course, that's beside the point).
When I came back from home, the doctor refused to accept that I was cured. He took out all his anger on me for defying his instructions and not going to the GH. He refused to give me a clearance certificate without which I couldn't return to the hostel. It was only after he tested me again (upon my insistence) and I came out negative that he reluctantly gave me the clearance.
Please note I have nothing against modern medicine. I just don't share your contempt for other forms of medicine. And I don't negate "personal experiences" like you guys.
@@ejv1963 I certainly don't share the conviction of the so-called "rationalists" and disciples of Richard Dawkins (or the desi version C. Ravindran) that denying God and condemning other streams of medicine constitute "scientific temper".
