I think another great feature is that it also uses e-mount, meaning adapting lenses or using a speed booster for that full frame look is possible. A negative is that proress raw still only works in final cut (and cinemadng only does 30fps 4k)
Good point, in terms of lenses the FS5 II is really flexible. It's still early days for ProRes RAW yet, hopefully, in time, we'll see it being supported in other NLE's, especially Resolve.

Yeah but the 2k 120fps Cine DNG from the shogun looks so nice! Honestly the files are so large I don't think I would personally shoot much higher than that.
+ legendp2011 Hi, will you please specify? What do you mean? If you shoot prores raw with a shogun inferno, the files are not accepted by Resolve and Premiere? What about the compatibility of the native codec - xavc?
+Timur Ismailov............xav-c works fine, so does just about anything else including regular prores 422, however the new prores raw will not work in premiere pro or davinci resolve (the files literally won't even import). If you want better image quality (and smaller footprint) a Atomos Ninja V recording in prores 422 hq might be the better option (fits on top of the camera better). You can shoot CinemaDNG at 4k 30fps on a atomos shogun Inferno over sdi out on the fs5 mki and mkii, that WILL import into both premiere pro and davinci resolve, but only up to 4k 30fps (you will have to shoot prores 422 hq for 60fps, or prores RAW which as I said only works in final cut).
EDIT:It looks like you can record 1080p 120fps CinemeDNG RAW on a shogun inferno (just not 1080p 240fps or 4k60fps in RAW, only for prores)
Edit: If you have already shot a project in prores RAW don'ty panic, as you can always use final cut pro 10 to convert the files back to s-log3 prores 422 hq. If you want a 4k 60fps RAW camera that works with premiere pro and davinci............there is the......... blackmagic ursa mini pro 4.6k, canon c200, blackmagic pocket 4k, or a secondhand red scarlet W or red raven (or a much older Red Epic mx). REDcode raw (r3d) is the only RAW codec I know of that works in pretty much all editing systems
The Canon C200 Mark 2 and Sony FS5 Mark 2 are both on my list off purchasing in the next three years. And also can the Sony FS5 Mark 2 do both 8 bit and 10 bit internal.
As I want to on the odd occasion go traveling with it. Along with the Panasonic GH5 and GH5s.
How waterproof is it? Have this camera myself but I'm very unsure about how wet it can get..

If I were to purchase the Sony fs5 II, and used an external recorder like the Atomos Shogun inferno, would the 4K be 10 bit 4:2:2, or does it still only remain only 8 bit as well since this is the capability of the fs5 - 4:2:0 at 8 bit? Secondly, can the Sony fs5 II viewfinder, flip around in order for me to view from the front, say if I were recorder myself alone for a broadcast? Thank you for your help!
Todd, Raw out is 10bit 4:2:2. and yes you can flip the viewfinder and it will display correctly. There is a button on it for it to flip

Hi, there. Thank you for your review. Can I use a Sony Zeiss f4/16-70 lens from a Sony a6500, with a Sony fs5 or fs5 mk2? This lens is meant for a APS-C type (23.5 x 15.6 mm), Exmor CMOS sensor of the sony a6500. While an fs5 has a larger - Super35 "Exmor" CMOS Sensor 3840 x 2160 (Effective Picture Elements). Theoretically I must get vignetting at 16 mm, right? If yes, what is the focal length at which there’s no vignetting? Thank you.
There should be no vignetting. FS5 and a6500 are the same size effectively. I'm getting the 16-55 f2.8.

What lens are you using in these FS5 MK II shots? Especially the church. Zoom lens?
And what camera and lens are you using for the studio takes?
they should remove the viewfinder and make it a bit more modular. I don't say like a kinefinety but a viewfinder is quite expensive and rarely used in that location
An EVF in the same position as the LCD screen normally is is definitely the best option

no change, exactly the same as the MKI.

Not continuous, but in 4 second bursts

How the auto focus on this , thank you for your video?
not really good enough to bother.... only tried with the kit lens, 35mm 1.8, and 50mm 1.8 when it works its sharp... I would use it to lock focus THEN shoot but never would I shoot in AF with this camera. the a6300 is much better by comparison
awful, but then that's probably to do with the 'fly by wire' lenses. Tip - manual focus can be assigned to the scroll wheel on the hand grip.
i am doing wildlife videography which telephoto lens i should use can you please suggest me.
There are a whole load of great options. Sony make some nice telephoto lenses now like the 400mm GM lens.
Most people are using Canons range of L lenses which are of course fantastic.
Sigma are also now making some great ones in their sport line.

Is this good for action filming my friend has a gopro. But I want something better, and with better optics . I go riding and want to record trip, but not sure what is best. People are using sony vfr 3000 and go pros for action sports. I could set up tripod and use better camera, but I would like handheld ability like skateboard filming.
Yes there's a helmet strap attachment for this very camera and the 70/200 gmaster is fantastic for vlogging too.

Thanks for the video! Somehow I can't record 4k 120p with my FS5M2 and Shogun Inferno set up. The Shogun reads the 120p signal when the camera buffer and records. But it is always 60p file that it records. I can do 2k 240p instead so I am sure the setup is correct. Can you help me with it?

@@mahyargoudarzi3877 I did. The machines work well. It is just Inferno can't record 120fps so when we try to do that, it record 60fps at 50% speed. Does it make sense?

I ran into this problem too while renting the FS5 II. I think the workaround was to hit the record button on the camera and then it would record to the Atomos at 4K 120. When hitting record on the Atomos I was only getting 60fps.
@@rynfilms It is the same no matter which button you hit. The 60fps you get in Atomos is already 50% slow.

I'd like some advice. I recently bought a Sony A7iii, and I want to also buy a cinema style camera and use the A7iii as a B camera and a stills camera, so my question is this. Should I go with the FS5 II so it's easier to match up the color and the shots, or should I grab a Canon C200 because it's soooooo good? I love the C200, and I know I could use color charts and stuff to match my shots, but I feel like when I'm running and gunning on a video with a quick turn around time it might be easier to match footage with another Sony camera. I don't necessarily want to take all the time I'd need in post to match cameras from different manufacturers for every video. Thoughts?
I'm in the same place as you are. I have a Sony a7sII and I want to replace it with the a7III or the upcoming a7sIII and buy a cinema camera style (considering FS5 II, C200 and EVA-1)... I'm messed up.
Not to confuse or throw wrentches...but i dont think this camera is very cinematic. The FS7 is however....i think the C200 is...and its more inline with a Red camera. The FS5 can give you a cinematic look i suppose...def a great broadcast quality camera. But that is just my opinion based on my own experience with shooting all 5 of those cameras for various projects.
I decided on the Canon C200. I watched a video by Max Yuryev where he more or less reviews the FS5 II and his dislikes convinced me I don't want it. It's not great in low light and it doesn't have great auto focus. I really like the EVA-1, I was originally worried about the C200's lack of a 10-bit codec (that's less demanding than RAW) but everyone says that the MP4's are some of the best MP4's that they've seen and the EVA-1 doesn't have great auto focus. I'm going to be using a gimbal a lot and I really want the dual pixel autofocus on the C200. Color matching won't be the end of the world. I'm definitely going with the C200.
Andrew Forbes its not a bad choice. You know what you want to do with it and iy can meet your needs. I dont remember having an issue with low light, but i guess that depends on how dark of an environment your shooting.
