Wanna hear "exact matching"? Do Helpless Hoping. Stunning unison between Chance and Rob, and matching of starting/stopping of words...like they're reading each other's minds.
Hell, even when the 3 of them start harmonizing, their timing is as tight as I've ever heard anywhere. This is definitely the HF song he needs to react to.
The original artist for this song is Cam,a female country artist and Home Free sings it in her key. Also, the bassline throughout this song is ALL done by Chance, Tim sings no bass at all. Adam has taught himself to play several instruments including drums so that his sounds are where and how they should be. I would recommend Wake Me Up (Avicii), Elvira (with the Oak Ridge Boys), Helplessly hoping (Crosby Stills and Nash), and Blue Ain't Your Color (Keith Urban) Great reaction as always. ❤
You're my favorite reactor! I love your enthusiasm & excitement when reacting. You're also knowledgeable about the musicality of the song & you're like watching a director of a choir or sympathy !! Love you & your channel. Love home free too
Another great one with a half- time transition, plus incredible beatboxing, is Elvira ft the Oak Ridge Boys! It's an older one, but absolutely phenomenal!
You did notice that their bass was singing tenor 1 and their bar was singing bass, didn't you? That's what puts the icing on the cake for this song and why it's important that people don't watch this video until they are very familiar with the vocalists, because without that familiarity one is not as impressed as one should be.
For pure harmonies: Helplessly Hoping For more of their normal sound: Hillbilly Bone or if you are interested in one from before Chance joined the group: Honey I'm Good
@@DrummingwithJarvis I grew up with HH as my favorite CSN song. Although the arrangement is good, there's something missing for me. I think the guitar continuity (of the song) is lost. I'm a home fry for sure.
Mayday is a song best saved for when you're able to identify their voices with your eyes shut. The truly jaw-dropping moments are the fact that Tim -- the bass who has.literally blown sub-woofers in concerts -- is singing Tenor (he has a 5 Octave range), and that Chance drops that low bass in there. The song is amazing on its own, but hearing Tim hit those high notes so easily STILL blows me away, and I can't even count how many times I've heard this!!
Yes Tim sang tenor instead of bass through the whole song. Chance is a bass/baritone so he covers bass when Tim sings lead. He has a 4 octave range. Have you reacted to Ain't Going to Leave This Town? Awesome song on Dive Bar Saints album.
I love these five men right here they are so amazing at what they do.. My God they are Brilliant Outstanding Amazingly Talented their harmonies are Beautiful.. I knew it I knew there was life on other planets because they're in a universe all their own...☄️🌌🪐 God bless you Tim, Rob, Austin,Adam Chance,Adam Rupp love you guys so much You are my Boys..💗💗💗💗
I think you nailed Adam's gift 100%. This is the song that exposes the gift Chance brings to the band. It allows them to all play doing whatever as they have two voices to cover all the ranges they need (well maybe not the extreme highs... yet...).
Fabulous as usual. These guys' music make life way more fun and interesting. Everything about this is wonderful and I get especially excited for Adam's percussion .Your reactions are exceptional and so informative.
There is so much going on & it's all good in this one. 1st question 1st...does this go on the playlist ? It's near the top of mine !!! Adam also KILLED it on the beatboxing ! He just always seems to get it right ! Next one...I'll keep posting it until you got no more Home Free to react too....an original.... *DIVE BAR SAINTS* it's so good and chill & your boy Adam does some great beatboxing too.
I knew you would love this. Most of us home fries tell reactors to wait until they know the group to do Mayday so they can appreciate the song 100% more with the switches. I would do in the blood or Hillbilly bone
For sheer fun, it would be Hillbilly Bone or Love Train. For harmonic beauty, it would be Helplessly Hoping or Auld Lang Syne (technically, NOT a Christmas song).
My favourite thing about your reactions/commentary is that it's always so professional and (slightly) technical but you never OVERanalyze to the point that a non-misician ends up lost. Amazing!!!❤️
I absolutely love watching you react, especially to Home Free. Your love of all things musical is such a joy to watch! Thank you for all of your reactions!
Loving the perspective from a professional drummer (you clearly know your stuff!). Your bit on vowel sound in a group is spot on, my old chorus teacher used to tell us "unaligned vowels sounds just as bad as unaligned pitches". Love your enthusiasm and energy man, Hillbilly bone is a great representation of their sound. Keep it up!
I used to sing in an acapella group in the 90's. When we were learning new songs we would all lay on our backs and everyone would sing the the lead's part over and over until our voices matched as close a s possible in timber and vowel placement. Only then did we start singing our separate parts. These guys have sung together so long they blend without even thinking.
First one and here we go love the different ranges on this one. Ps thought I'd ad, don't think you have watch peter hollens and tim Foust misty mountains, you can thank me later lol.
I really enjoy your reactions. You bring out different things than other reactors and explain things in a way that's easy for people to understand. I grew up around music and in choir, but you bring out things I either haven't heard before or not for a very long time. Kudos to you!
I don't see these being recommended so I will throw them out there "why does it have to be wrong or right" Home Free cover is another great song featuring Rob "In the blood" Home Free cover is another one that has Tim take lead and is well done showing off the beauty of simplicity "I Can't Outrun You" Home Free cover is a great song that shows off Chance's singing with some great harmonies
I absolutely adore your reactions ! It’s so enthusiastic and energetic 👏❤️ If you like key changes, I would suggest « Can you feel the love tonight » or « Deck the hall » from Pentatonix (I know the second one is a Christmas song, but it’s always Christmas with PTX 🤩) For the next Home Free, I would suggest « All about that bass » 😏
For sure the next one you should listen to is Helplessly Hoping. You will be floored. You mentioned “rub” and their lack of it. Helplessly Hoping will make your jaw drop. Go Rest High on that Mountain would be my second choice. It is absolutely phenomenal.
The only thing I know about music is that I love it. When you stop and describe things, I learn. Thanks for that. I really enjoy your reactions. You have a positive vibe and, a very expressive face. Glad I found you!
I think you'd love Adam's beatboxing in one of their older songs, Everything Will Be Okay. His high hat, snare, and even his toms sound incredible in that song.
I don't think I've heard a reactor catch this yet, but when that counter melody kicks in at the end, Rob (beard) starts it off for the first two rounds, them Tim (long hair, normally bass, started the song in high tenor range) actually takes the higher line of the counter melody. This song showcases just how amazing this group of unicorns really is. If you haven't done it yet, you'd love the Sea Shanty Medley, just for the changes and shifts between songs, and I'm just going to say listen closely to what Adam does with Santiana at the end. He's just the best at what he does, no contest!! Great reaction, as always!
Thank you for a really great reaction to Mayday. What HF did with the song is amazing. A really good song that showcases Chance is...I Can't Out Run You...really good ...Country Fried Pop Medley...Funny...or...Friends In Low Places...Fun. Up to you, but they are really good. Thanks
Adam Rupp did their arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear and it is just as much of an event as this one. This one is my favorite of theirs. I really enjoy listening to your commentary. hj
Love Home Free just beautiful!!! If you like harmonizing you seriously should try ....Too Much Heaven.... By the Bee Gees I think your reaction will blow us away. You are great!!
I love your reactions, Jarvis. Your face is so expressive. I love Home Free's version of this so much that I never even heard the original, by Cam. If you love halftime so much, listen to Sold by Home Free. That is another phenomenal song
I am sure someone already said this, but Adam Rupp IS a professional drummer along with several other real instruments, like the trombone and trumpet. Also when they were on the Sing Off, they said, he was a good drummer and didn't use a lot of cymbals that didn't need to be played like a lot of beatboxers do.
Wonderful explanations Jarvis. What I love is Tim showing off his 5 octave range. While he’s the bass, he sings this in the tenor range. Wow! And with Chance now in the group, he as the baritone/bass can now go low and show off his 4 octave range. Adam killed it and Austin singing the high tenor range with Rob in tenor rounded out a great song. Great reaction! Just fun. Have a great day!
I love the pure confusion then dawning on your face as you see Tim, mention starting out with the bass, but hearing smooth tenor vocals! You almost said something about it then the beat dropped and distracted you lol so glad you did this one and waited long enough to recognize the significance of who sang what part of it.
Sea Shanty Medley Hillbilly Bone - Blake Shelton cover Elvira - feat. the original band members, the Oakridge Boys Can’t Stop This Feeling - Justin Timberlake cover Another group you should watch: JINGER and their live video “PISCES.” The drummer and guitar pieces are above just good. Very talented.
I would suggest their cover of “Castle on the Hill”, and “Some Girl Do”. Both highlight Adam Chance, so you get to hear him. Then do Austin’s solo covers, like “Let’s Stay Together”, “You’ve Got A Friend” and “Brand New Man”. As well as others…
You never fail to BRANG IT! Thanks for another great reaction and break-down of what they boys are doing. I'd like to recommend "Hillbilly Bone," "Cover Me Up," and "My Church" for other Home Free reactions. And I agree, it's not the season for holiday music yet. I have tickets for their Warmest Winter concert in December, and I'm purposely staying away from thier holiday music so I can have a surprise at the show. Keep up the fantastic content, JB!!! **EDIT** Home Free is releasing a new video tomorrow (8/13/21) "One Man Band." Jump on this one!
Love your reactions and joy in music! One of my favorites is Blue ain’t your color (Keith Urban cover). Looking forward to the next reaction 😎👍. Rob and Chance have lead on this one 😉
You tickle this retired band director (but still teaching college music apprec) when you catch and mention timbre, the opposite (contrary) motion half time section, and the counter melody at the end!! Love it!
Couldn't wait for you to do this one! Knew you would love it and it was worth the wait. I also vote for "Helplessly Hoping" next. It is absolutely flawless.
Great reaction as always my man! Now you know why fans say wait on Mayday until your familiar with the members and their normal roles....Adam kills it as always, as does Rob and Austin...but Tim and Chance are amazing and Tim's upper range is amazing. I also agree....Adam's gift (Same as Tim) is that you do what you do that compliments and fits the music and not overdo it...percussion and bass is the same thing in that regard...sometimes I am overally critical of Geoff from Voiceplay because I think he/they use the bass drops more of a gimick. Not all the time, but enough that it distracts my attention from the main melody/song.
If you want to hear more outstanding harmonies, check out one (or both) of their two latest: "Crazy" (the Patsy Cline classic) and "One Man Band". Both are great. Austin takes the lead in "Crazy" while they swap out the lead in "One Man Band". I really enjoy your reactions - love the way you break down the harmonies and more.
Wanna hear "exact matching"? Do Helpless Hoping. Stunning unison between Chance and Rob, and matching of starting/stopping of words...like they're reading each other's minds.
Their vibrato even matches up.
Hell, even when the 3 of them start harmonizing, their timing is as tight as I've ever heard anywhere. This is definitely the HF song he needs to react to.
@@Qmocean Better words than mine: "timing" and "tight" is exactly what it is.
Folsom Prison Blues!
What throws most is Tim’s tenor, when he’s normally a BASS….LOLOLOLOL !!! But, he’s got a 5+ Octave range 🙃❤️‼️😋
Love Train.....you'll love it
😊🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Agreed and would add Dreamer, Crazy and Yours.
I suggest " COUNTRY ROADS TAKE ME HOME " John Denver cover or " THINKING OUT LOUD/LET'S GET IT ON " Ed Sheeran and Marvin Gaye cover
Go rest high on that mountain is amazing

seems to be a crowd favorite going to add it to the list !
They do a cover of John Michael Montgomery - SOLD.... That is absolutely worth a listen if you, as you say you do, like half time.....
Love that song!
For pure harmonies: Helplessly Hoping

Yes Tim sang tenor instead of bass through the whole song. Chance is a bass/baritone so he covers bass when Tim sings lead. He has a 4 octave range.
