Thanks to everyone for the love and support these last few months, this UA-cam channel has been such a great way to spend my summer free time. We’re so close to 1000 subs, so if you haven’t yet, please please hit that big red button, it really helps out smaller creators like me. See you all next week for Do You Hear What I Hear 😄
They did an older Patreon Party (w/Chris Rupp still, b4 Chance) +did a funny "Songs That Didn't Make The Cut" skit, one song w/high girl voices + Tim's high notes!!!!😊
12:30 "The only one who can't be a tenor"... not here maybe but Chance is perfectly capable of singing in tenor. A good example is his part in "American Pie". Also, when Rob comes in with the counter line he sings it alone then on the next round, Tim joins him... singing above Rob in harmony! Hear it? Stuff like this is what makes them not only distinctive but addictive.
Yup, all 5 of them can sing tenor (including Adam Rupp, the beatboxer). They literally could do a song where they were all in the tenor range, but I love Chance showing off his bass here.
@@christyeckert3115 He also sings a line in Quarantine. If you dig around, there's a fan recording from a concert of the song Little Saint Nick where he does a verse. Adam sings *a lot* of harmony bits when there's no beatboxing (and sometimes even when there is beatboxing) but rarely sings lead. If you listen to the song The Driver, you'll note there's a tenor bell tone part throughout that's just do-do-dah, do-do-dah. That's Adam. Once you learn to recognize his voice, you start picking it up in a measure or two here and there. And, of course, there's multiple instances of Adam's "no-monica" where he's essentially singing but pushed up and forward to achieve the right resonance.
@sersa4179 I know this was a year old Comment haha, but adam has a full verse on little Saint nick. Look for their vip live version with chance in it. If it's a version when chris was still there, he doesn't do a verse. Tim beatboxes durring Adam's verse. It's a cool little switch up
You manage to pick out so many details that most casual listeners miss no matter how many times they've heard the song. Just go ahead and do every song Home Free has ever done, and I will gladly watch every reaction video you do. Your face lights up like a kid on Christmas morning every time you hear something cool, which makes you an absolute joy to watch. Keep 'em coming!
This is one my favorite HF songs. Each of them shines. As far as percussion goes - Adam is phenomenal here, but his castanets in Sea Shanty blow me away.
Your evaluation is so fair to all the members because you gave each one your attention and praise. I specifically like your comment, “Those notes that he’s (Austin’s) which took no effort & the softest, too. He’s just hitting those with the most beautiful soft notes. He’s just floating on top of those falsetto notes.” Beautiful & informative description. You’re schooling us. 😊 Thank you!
Oh, Chance can do Tenor. He just wants to add a little surprise more here... If you want to do me a great favor, react to their original song "Catch me if you can". I like it very much, but I pity not many reactors watch it, and if they do, they miss the best part (I think).
I love that one! My favorite part of that song is in the middle when Adam is making that high pitched sound ( not sure what it's called lol maybe a harmonica again?) but it sounds beautiful!
That was a fantastic reaction and analysis. You have the best facial expressions for reactions. How you don't have more subs is a mystery to me because you are fantastic at it. My favorite thing about this song is that Tim, who is one of the deepest basses I've ever heard, can sing beautifully as a tenor and it doesn't even seem like he has to work to get there. I myself am a soprano who can also sing alto, but it is definitely harder for me to hit the lower alto notes. And oh next Friday is gonna be good day! My favorite Holiday song in the best rendition I've ever heard by a group.
I've seen a lot of singers reacting to Home Free and it's nice to finally see one that gets as genuinely excited and animated about what they do as I do. Loved it!
I absolutely adore your reactions to these gentlemen. You pick up the amazing things the average listener misses. Finally doing justice to their musical magic. I subbed after your first Home Free reaction. So glad you are enjoying them.
In the song *Your Man" by Josh Allen. In the concert versions Tim shows his full range from A5-lower then G1. Some say he actually hit a B0. I am not any kind of musician so I don't know. I just know in that one song he covers his entire range. But you need to listen to a concert version not the music video version.
For some more Tim range, check out their song, Snowglobe. Also, their cover of Dan and Shay's Stop, Drop, and Roll. Tim sings with the tenors in that one. Loved your reaction, Sir
There's stomping in Everybody Walking this Land, not to mention an awesome message for the world! I love that you appreciate the talent in each of these guys.
I'm really loving your reactions! Since you're into a capella groups, this one was bound to be a hit with you! I'm so glad that you waited a bit on it because it's so much better when you have a basic understanding of which parts each member *usually* covers. And the fact that Tim sings no bass in this song is a further tribute to their total versatility shown by Chance covering the bassline throughout this song. I can't wait to see your reaction to Do You Hear What I Hear! It's another phenomenal song covered by Home Free!
I love Rob's voice. Sure Tim & Austin have amazing voices but Rob has cream in his voice with so many tricks & turns that he handles with an amazing capacity to never end.
A couple of cool things you can listen/react to, to get to know the group better, is Austin's own channel, he sings amazingly solo, and Adam Rupp's "drum solo" performances. But, when it comes to Home Free's performances, it really doesn't matter - whatever they sing is awesome. They are superstars!
Absolutely love your reactions, your enthusiasm is infectious 😊 especially this one, one of my favourite Home Free songs. All these guys are super talented 😊
This is the first time I’ve heard your reaction. Now I’ve got to go listen to the video again with a greater appreciation for the subtleties. Thanks muchly. Gotcha a new subscriber.
All the harmonies just grab my ear. I can’t help but sing along(I don’t do it justice) This song is just so awesome. Your reaction was perfect as well!
One of the best reactions to Mayday I've ever watched! And as you were saying they killed it! Can the talent be denied? I dont think so. Please check out " In the blood" or "Cover me up" which showcases Chance's singing lead. And be sure to let video play at the end. Sweet ending.Thank you for great reaction!
What a Great reaction !!! I have listened to this many many times and have never enjoyed it so much as with you pointing out the many things I had missed. Your amazement with their arrangement and vocal abilities had me smiling the whole time. I am really enjoying your channel !!! I have suscribed and am looking forward to More Home Free !!
HF has a few songs/music videos that feature Chance singing solo or even the lead for the entire song. First, check out BLUE AIN'T YOUR COLOR, then YOURS, COVER ME UP, I CAN'T OUTRUN YOU, also one of my fav [before Chance joined the group] is HUNTER HAYES MEDLEY. Thanks, Mort❣
I cant remember if you've reacted to Blue Ain't Your Color. It is great. Of course, I haven't found a song I dont like that they have done. Some I just like better :) Great job today
I love that one too. I really like the time they put in to do the movement reminiscent of the Temptations style. Their videos can be weird/corny/funny/reverent. This video for that song was spot on. It fit the tone of the song.
You are correct, they decided to record this one in the same key that Cam did, to show off Tim's amazing 5+ octave range! Plus they were able to give Chance a chance to remind everyone that he is a bass! It's one of the major advantages Home Free has, they essentially have 2 basses, 3 baritones, and 5 tenors (plus the world's best beatboxer) in the group so they can mix and match their voices to get whatever effect they need for a given song. Oh, and if you want to see Chance go sailing right on up into tenor land, check out Can't Stop the Feeling.
Mortius if you dont SEE then doing a stump or clap then its coming from Adams mouth. Adam is a walking sound box. that boy can replicate so many sounds with his mouth its amazing. check out "man of constant sorrow" he does a harmonica that is amazing.. On a down note Mortius after going back and watching several of your other videos, Can you move your ring light? As a fellow glasses wearer the constant reflection of your ring light in your glasses is very distracting. Other than that like you reaction videos and glad you have caught the Home Fry Bug, they are one of the best acapella groups on your tube have have lot of great videos. home to see more reactions of them in your future
Thank you for taking the time to listen to the original first! When possible, that always adds insight. Make a mental note to review the original (Meghan Trainor) when you get around to HF's light-hearted all-male cover of her all-female song "All About That Bass!" Most likely, you'll get to "Man of Constant Sorrow" sooner...and there's no way to listen to the original performer! That song was written and performed in 1913 by a man who was never recorded! The definitive version, however, can be found in the 2000 movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
YESSSSS !!! Christmas in July...on youtbe its a real thing !! I'm looking forward already to next week as well !!!! Mortius you look so good as always...very classy I appreciate that. Man you're breakdown of this song...what can you say, it was such good & in depth...enjoyed !! Hope one day (please put it on your list) *DIVE BAR SAINTS* and it was written for them, by their friend Arliss Allbritton
Thank you for your awesome reaction sir! Listen to one of my favorite Home Free original song, Snow Globe cowritten by Tim. Favorite originals are Snow Globe, Dive Bar Saints, Land of the Free and Full of Cheer. Some of my favorite covers are some girls do, I can’t outrun you, Yours, and your man. I got really excited when I saw the preview for my favorite phenomenal Home Free cover arranged by Adam Rupp. I officially became a home fry last year after I listened to Chris Rupp’s (he is wearing a hat in Do You Hear What I Hear) breakdown of Home Free arrangements.
When I just watched your reaction again (Yes, I like your reactions of my superstar group!) I just noticed a detail that I reacted to the first time I heard this song, at 08:00 (you stop it a few times at that point), but notice Tim's mouth, and his very high pitched oooOOooo while Rob's singing. But at the same time, there's a quite heavy bass going in the back... Damn, Chance is SO underrated in this group ;)
Brand new subscriber here. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and analysis. I couldn't sing if ya handed me a note in a bucket. But, I am always grateful to learn more about the work that goes into producing various kinds of music. You provide a wonderful window into acapella music and your joyous spirit in sharing that knowledge is what will keep me here. I will take the liberty to request you take a look at "Elvira" by Home Free, featuring The Oak Ridge Boys. The Oaks are the musical predecessors to Home Free. It would be interesting to hear your analysis of the older voices and how the two groups blend the old with the new.
I'd love to see you react to Home Free's Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget which was written by Tim Foust. He also wrote Full of Cheer, a Christmas time song whose storyline can be seen to follow Champagne Taste. It was written by Tim also. They're both funny and a lot of fun to experience. If you've seen the movie The Big Lebowski then you really have to watch HF's This is How We Roll. I love Austin in this one.
I've seen many reactions to this video....this one was by far my favorite...so informative! Thank you! I just subbed for more Home Free! If you want to hear Chance's range..react to Can't Stop The Feeling!
Loving your reaction, thank you for taking the time to really dig into what they are are doing with the arrangement. The thing is, it's such a great version of the original song, that you can enjoy it on that level - they're not shoe-horning Tim's range in just to show off, it's serving the music. As fun as it is for us to see people taken by surprise, you can just enjoy it on the level of an excellent rendition of a great song, and that's one of the things that makes Home Free special.
So fun to watch your reactions, so energetic and fun. Love your perspective! Adam Rupp arranged Do you hear what I hear and you can definitely tell, he should do more! Oh and might want to listen to Lets get it on mash up too....so good
Best critical and astute reaction to this version of Mayday. Love your enthusiasm for all things A Capella and especially Home Free. IMO....some of the most astonishing ranges, not just in groups but in mysic as a whole. Tim alone must be sporting a 5 octave range. Makes for an arranger's paradise. If you want to have a great couple of hours watch one of their older live concerts. Be prepared to laugh yourself silly. BTW.. Love your living space. And your tie.
This is the biggest display of just how great these guys really are. If anyone ever doubted it this is where they’d have to change their minds. Unbelievable!!
I am really enjoying your reactions. It is so much fun getting that little surprise when you aren't expecting it. Here are a couple more to consider...Hillbilly Bone...In The Blood...What We Ain't Got...Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget...Tim wrote with Joe Bilotta. Thank you for a great reaction..
I LOVE your channel!! You won my sub because of the A Capella groups you react to. LOVE that you do so much Home Free! They are awesome! Love your reactions!! Thanks for sharing
I can't wait for your reaction to Do You Hear What I Hear! That is an insane arrangement done by Adam. He doesn't arrange their music much but I've heard somewhere that it's because it's usually too complex for the guys to recreate lol his brain is just crazy!
I became a Home Fry in December. The only reason Mayday didn’t freak me out is because one of the first home free songs I listened to was Snow Globe. I was stunned and my mind was blown. 🤯😱😁🙌. The song and video are great. Home Free original songs are awesome!
I admit, I don't love every 'song', but I appreciate the arrangements. Snow Globe that Tim wrote I love. I have it on my playlist when driving. Interesting is it's Chance doing the bass & adding his stylings many mistake are Tim's just looped. I think that's why I love the sound of it.
Best review ever! I really love your analyses!! Glad I subscribed! ❤ They did layer in clapping and stomping. You can see they aren't stomping through the whole thing, either. The joy you have on your face just makes my heart smile!
Loved your reaction and I subscribed. I honestly don’t know if Adam does the hand claps sounds or not. So glad you liked this. Oftentimes reactors listen to this too early and don’t really appreciate the tenor range Tim is singing in. Yeah he was just showing off…hahaha. And since Chance joined, he was showing off his bass notes. I think because of what you pointed out in this video with all their notes this is exactly why I like HF’s versions better than the originals many times because the originals don’t have the depth. Try I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, What We Ain’t Got, In The Blood, Seven Bridges Road.
Actually, Chance 'can' go tenor. Check out "Can't Stop The Feeling"! 😀 He's got a 4 octave range to match Tim's 5 octaves. Great analysis! I'm really lovin' your reactions! Thx so much!
This was an amazing reaction. I love watching your enjoyment of all of these awesome songs. Chance is great in the song Yours and Helplessly Hoping, also Cover me Up. I also like Love me Like That and Tim & Peter Hollens version of Greensleeves
Mortius, you are not a music aficionado. You are a music NUT, And I mean that in the most positive sense. Love your animated and honest reactions. Keep it up, Sir.
I've watched your other reactions to Home Free and I can tell you that you are in my top three reactors. I would gladly listen to you reacting to all of Home Frees songs, might take you a while though. So many favourites, How Great Thou Art, Helplessly hoping, Do you hear what I hear, Your Man, Travelin Soldier and Sea Shanty Medley to name just a few. Can't wait for your next one, just saw the snippet, x
Since you are just about a homefry, you gotta check out go rest high on that mountain by homefree. Both the music video and the church sessions version will blow you away. Either one would make a good reaction.
Check out Snow Globe...it may June, but who can't get enough of HF & an original HF song? Christmas in June can help cool down some. 😉 You might be surprised as to who is the lead in it. 😁😉 They could LITERALLY sing the phone book & it would make us melt.
You should also check out their "Do You Hear What I Hear?" as well, it's freaking phenomenal. All of them are incredible in it. Honestly though, you really can't go wrong, they don't miss often.
Home Free is legendary for slipping in sounds they recorded and doubling the soundtrack (Man of Constant Sorrow). The clap is probably real. If you haven't check out Misty Mountain. 120 overlays of 2 voices.
First of all, you have a beautiful voice. Chance CAN do tenor. And if you want to hear another person with range, check out Geoff Castellucci doing 16 Tons, Country Roads, Blackbird, and Bare Necessities. Also check out Tim's arrangement of I Can't Help Falling in Love With You (audio only).
I've heard their version so many times. I never thought to listen to the original until you mentioned doing it. I decided to do that before listening to your reaction. I'm so glad I did. Now when I hear HF's version, I will think of Cam's story video.
You were mentioning clapping sounds vs. Adam Rupp beatbox vocal. I think it's Adam because I've seen them do this in concert and don't remember them clapping during the song at all.
Great reaction for this one! A really great cover!! Looking forward to “Do You Hear What I Hear”! Adam Rupp arranged that one! It’s been my favorite Christmas song of theirs for years! Of course, I’ve had to add some new ones since their Warmest Winter album last year. Check out “Snow Globe” and “Winter Song” if you’ll be reacting to Christmas songs in July.
I have noticed that at least with Home Free, Voice play, and PTX that they have all the singers can sing in the higher octaves but then it breaks down and you have two that can also sing the bass part. Then of course your beat boxers who can sing as well as the rest of the group. It's an amazing dynamic of all three groups that make them some of the best.
If you watch Home Free's video "Moonshine" - Adam Chance sings tenor. Tim Foust has an entire album of doo-wop songs (he does all the tracks) there's a video "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay" that shows off his range even more.
Home Free loves to surprise their audiences!! Not only is Tim able to sing high & low but Adam Chance has a wide range as well! Listen to American Pie with Don McLean! Each HF gets to showcase their abilities!! Not only can they all sing tenor but each HF member can beatbox!! Watch he live onstage performance of “9 to 5”! Nice reaction!!

Austin says that he sings the highest in the band but just barely because Tim’s range is so huge.
I am a tenor, and Tim can hit some notes in the top of my range
Austin's range (E1-C6) is only a little smaller than Tim's, but obviously sits higher.

I agree, "Catch Me if You Can" is a very catch song.
Another one where they utilize the foot stomp is Hillbilly Bone.
Hillbilly bone is really good !
Home Free's "Thinking Out Loud/ Let's Get It On" mash up cover is a must. It's freaking amazing.
One of my favorites and very rarely reacted to. Why I don't know - but certainly a super mashup. Thanks Mortius

I knew you would love this one. Their range is Epic and they are all down to earth and care free.
I really like how you stop point out what is happening with the song. I have heard this song many times but now I am hearing it in a new way, thanks.
Love your reaction! I could see your chills!
I LOVE your channel!! You won my sub because of the A Capella groups you react to. LOVE that you do so much Home Free! They are awesome! Love your reactions!! Thanks for sharing
You need to do Man of Constant Sorrow
I can't wait for your reaction to Do You Hear What I Hear! That is an insane arrangement done by Adam. He doesn't arrange their music much but I've heard somewhere that it's because it's usually too complex for the guys to recreate lol his brain is just crazy!
Tim is unreal. Try listening to an original called Snow Globe, Tim goes even higher.
I became a Home Fry in December. The only reason Mayday didn’t freak me out is because one of the first home free songs I listened to was Snow Globe. I was stunned and my mind was blown. 🤯😱😁🙌. The song and video are great. Home Free original songs are awesome!
or listen to tim foust stand by me
I admit, I don't love every 'song', but I appreciate the arrangements. Snow Globe that Tim wrote I love. I have it on my playlist when driving.
Interesting is it's Chance doing the bass & adding his stylings many mistake are Tim's just looped. I think that's why I love the sound of it.
A uh huh..um ah huh...yep! That's right! Yep! They're all that!! Yep!!
Don't worry about stopping, rewinding, or explaining. That's a good part of why we're here.
Now you understand why the recommendation is that you should hold off on MayDay until you have done several other Home Free recordings.
Best review ever! I really love your analyses!! Glad I subscribed! ❤ They did layer in clapping and stomping. You can see they aren't stomping through the whole thing, either.
The joy you have on your face just makes my heart smile!
It’s so fun to watch along with you! Thanks so much for your reactions, particularly the Home Free songs.
Check out Snow Globe, which Tim wrote where he goes pretty high. It is really a great song.
Yep, Tim is really awsome in snow globe
This was an amazing reaction. I love watching your enjoyment of all of these awesome songs. Chance is great in the song Yours and Helplessly Hoping, also Cover me Up. I also like Love me Like That and Tim & Peter Hollens version of Greensleeves
you make me smile, thank you.
Mortius, you are not a music aficionado. You are a music NUT, And I mean that in the most positive sense. Love your animated and honest reactions. Keep it up, Sir.
I love this song, and your reaction is one of favorites! I've watched it several times now as I love your expressions! :)
I've watched your other reactions to Home Free and I can tell you that you are in my top three reactors. I would gladly listen to you reacting to all of Home
Frees songs, might take you a while though.
I like Austin’s voice the most… his part is my favorite
He originally didn't want to do this song because it had a lot of bad memories for him
Chance can sing tenor, oh yes he can!
Home Fry favorite! We love seeing newbies hear them mix it up like this! 😉❤️
Check out Snow Globe...it may June, but who can't get enough of HF & an original HF song? Christmas in June can help cool down some. 😉 You might be surprised as to who is the lead in it. 😁😉
They could LITERALLY sing the phone book & it would make us melt.
They are on top of the world. World class beatboxing and vocals
Oooo. See you next week. LOVE DYHWIHEAR!!!!!!!!!
An oldie but a goodie (and seldom reacted to) is 'Wagon Wheel/Song of the South'. Love the Alabama Sampler too. Both pre-Chance, so a good comparison.
This is Home Free. Expect the unexpected.
Absolutely love this. Great reaction!!💗
I've heard their version so many times. I never thought to listen to the original until you mentioned doing it. I decided to do that before listening to your reaction. I'm so glad I did. Now when I hear HF's version, I will think of Cam's story video.
Just subscribed! You are the only reactor who pauses a lot, but is not irritating as hell!!!
Your insights are both informative and entertaining ❤️
You were mentioning clapping sounds vs. Adam Rupp beatbox vocal. I think it's Adam because I've seen them do this in concert and don't remember them clapping during the song at all.
Great reaction for this one! A really great cover!! Looking forward to “Do You Hear What I Hear”! Adam Rupp arranged that one! It’s been my favorite Christmas song of theirs for years! Of course, I’ve had to add some new ones since their Warmest Winter album last year. Check out “Snow Globe” and “Winter Song” if you’ll be reacting to Christmas songs in July.
Tim has a 5 octave range. Home Free does not replicate the songs they cover. They make them their own.
I subscribed. Glad you're doing more home freee!!!!! LOVE Home Free.
I love finding someone with this same love and understanding of music as me. Everything you said is this video is exactly what I’m thinking.
Chance can also sing tenor. He has a 4+ octave range (F1-F5)
No chance has only a 3 and a half octave range from his mouth
Notice at the end when Rob is looping the first line of the song and Austin is doing the chorus, Tim is singing the high harmony above Rob
Tim never really goes low the whole song. I love it.
If you watch Home Free's video "Moonshine" - Adam Chance sings tenor. Tim Foust has an entire album of doo-wop songs (he does all the tracks) there's a video "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay" that shows off his range even more.
Incredible video!!❤
For Chance to push into tenor range check out Can't Stop the Feeling. He also does a great instrumental riff.
10:49 yup. That's where the eargasm begins. ;)
If you haven’t already, check out their live version of Your Man 👌
