I've been waiting a while to do a Tool cover so I figured I'd just go for it since it's been requested by lots of folks and I'm excited to share it with you all. Schism is an obvious classic and it might be one of Tool's easier songs but it's still pretty difficult to get the fills down correctly. My rendition isn't perfect but I certainly tried my best!
Tool has been an endless source of inspiration for me as a drummer and a musician. Danny Carey is one of progressive rock's household names so I have major respect for him and consider him one of my drumming idols.

This man playing Tool and making it look easy
This track isn't mechanically difficult, it's moreso in the arrangement. Most parts are simple, but there's a ton of unique parts you have to learn individually then put in the right order.
tbh when you take out the math bullshit the drum parts are pretty easy to play as long as you know what his modus operandi is
A way a figured to play this in a more linear fashion is add 5/8 + 7/8 = 12/8, which basically 4/4 but in a triplet ir dotted quarter note feel. But that only encompasses the first half of the song, and not to mention the transitions of frases in 6/8.
His brain power to control 4 things at once takes a strong clean mind.
For Those About To Drum
I Salute You
@@vommittt um? Some of the riffs in this song are pretty complicated time wise and the fills towards the end are nuts. Especially the section in the 3rd chorus before slow section.
All good and well played. BUT one thing that drives me crazy is the fact that your kit doesn't stand in center of the carpet. ^^
hahahaha that's true
but he is centered on the carpet which might be a mental thing for him
Lol, you just wrecked this video for me!

Who cares
Maaan, you are sounding really great! And I love those fills you are doing between the snare and the rack tom! It’s really cool and interesting placement....great job!!......Jonathan Moffett

Not gonna lie I saw Jon in the thumbnail and was curious how he planned to make all-star work in a tool song

Using the bass of all star
holy shit i didn't know this was the same guy, thought you were making a joke. How did i even get here?
I remember those videos from like 18 months ago. Still goin strong with them it seems. Pretty good drummer too.
Daang, this showed up on my recommended and i was like "oh ok so is he gonna do some kinda all star thing on drums?" Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Keep up the good work, man. Mad props.

I think the best thing about this, which often gets lost in the “drum cover” world is that this appears to be all one take. Well done!
Tool has gotten me through some incredibly hard times. Great to see another drummer appreciate this music. Well done drum cover!
The camera moving effect and everything is just insane. Great job dude

Playing a tough song by one of my top idols as a drummer. Hit all the off-time fills, and nailed the double bass at the end. Well done sir!!
Considering the fact that I've been trying to play this song for the last two weeks and havent been able to play it all the way through yet, I appreciate the dedication and effort it took you to learn this amazing song. Great cover.
So I was expecting some kind of meme but this was an actually legit fucking cover of a song by one of my favourite bands.
Good job my dude, spiral out

"he is writting all stars lyrics with subliminal youtube titles"

Me too or how much I suck at anything. Whenever I watch those videos on something that I suck but they do better I die a little😂😂
I hear ya bro, if I even attempted ANY Tool song, I'd probably be off time instantly!
Probably 2 reasons: 1 you don't play enough, 2: if you don't have the determination and drive to actually listen anf learn the songs by ear and then trying to play them, of course you won't be able to play well.
Compare yourself to others to give you a reason to get better, maybe you're not suited for odd times songs with weird patterns, then play simple but play well, and upp zhe difficulty little by little. It's all too easy to say that you die in the inside when you see people playing better than you, go to your drums and play, this way you'll get it eventually
This comment hurts
