"His talent is worth experiencing"
And "What an honor to play for such a large crowd"
Great comments and observations from these Men.
Show them Pantera especially Domination Live from that gigantic show in Russia Monsers of Rock. I would love to hear what they think of that.
have him watch Neil Pearts drum solo
"He needs a singer who can match his speed. Someone like Sir Michael Jackson." Maynard- you're fired! 😅
Beat it!
It's the best comment from the video lol
Maynard dislikes this video 😂
Sums up my whole opinion on Tool, tbh.
😂😂😂😂😂
"There are jobs in which you have time to breathe or think, but this requires you to be disconnected from the world". The man nailed it!
My favourite part!
In that respect, Abdul is a living hammer.
It's actually true. I'm a drummer and when you're absorbed in playing you get lost in a weird state of mind which is hard to describe. I used to go drive cars really fast on a circuit and it's a similar feeling, or when you're doing mountain biking down a very fast and difficult path. You become so focused on the present moment that everything else sort of vanishes and you enter a special zone. It's like a meditative state of mind. I think this why so many people become obsessed about becoming good at this sort of thing, this is probably the only feeling that can become as addictive as sex. Sex also does a similar effect if done correctly (as in allowing yourself to be lost in the passion of the experience). To me all of the disciplines that can take a human being to this state of mind should be considered artforms.
@@king-manu2758 Nick Cave & Keith Richards refer to this as their "muse". The same rings true for Danny Carey. He has a prodigious technical and composition talent.
@@king-manu2758 It's flow brother!
Hearing Tool for the first time, and learning what an octopus is both on the same day would be too much for my mind to handle. These guys rock.
Lol! No doubt
I'm dying XD
their drummer is an octopus after all
Top comment.
"Wow Danny Carey wow" is right! Lol
Been saying it for thirty years now.
and soon we will be watching him play along with Adrian and Tony and Steve ins san jose!
Now he’ll be the GOAT (greatest) of drumming in the Eastern world too 😂
@@lintelle2382 UUUGGGHHHH, how I wish that tour was coming close enough to me that I could actually go. Lucky you.
Nothing warms a white Americans heart than seeing people from other parts of the world appreciate the art we create. We hear so much hate towards us these days, all we want is to enjoy this life together. Most of us anyways.
Rank #26 in the Rolling Stones top 100 is CRIMINAL. Top 5 AT LEAST, if not the best to ever do it.
I could not agree more. My top 5 would include Danny Carey, Brann Dailor, Clay Aeschliman, Dave Grohl (I just love his style) and of course Neil Peart.
Came to say the same. I understand Bonham being at #1 because of how influential he was on drummers that came behind him, but Danny not being at least in the Top 5 is inexcusable. Since Neil Peart’s passing a few years ago, it’s safe to say that Danny is pretty much uncontested as the greatest drummer alive.
@@MisterDeets Top three should be Carey, Matt Garstka, and Thomas Haake.
Don't forget Bill Bruford
@@MisterDeets don’t forget animal from the Muppet band
These gentlemen are so humble, and the thought of Michael Jackson as the frontman for TOOL got a good laugh from me!
Why can't - wee-hee - be sober!
It could work to be honest 😮 like actual!!
@@felixdoolan836 Yeah, Michael was a passionate artist and a master of his craft, if he absolutely had to, he'd find a way to fit in.
@@mattmcilwhan SHAMONE!
The guy with the glasses IMMEDIATELY ripping into Maynard is my favorite part XD
lol my dad likes schism but always criticizes maynard on that track, too
“Did he learn it from Bob Ross?” 😂Muharram you legend!
Muharram would 100 percent be in that mosh pit
Maynard getting the business 😂😂
😂😂😂
Not to be that guy that over thinks Tool but I honestly feel like Maynard sat back on this album to allow Danny, Adam, and Justin to be the showcase. He can't sing like he used to and those dude are more refined then ever.
@@pnuema1.618 dudes got other business ventures he wants to focus on more.. I skipped this album regarding as a 'greatest' hits type thing.. thank you give me ANema ANYDAY!
@@pnuema1.618 Maynard is also a veteran, a forward observer at that. He definitely has knee and back probkems at minimum.... and hes a black belt in BJJ. The mans tired lol
@@voraxumbra1he's had 3 hip replacements. His early 90s stuff really wrecked his back
"his talent is worth experiencing" is such an unbelievable compliment
that first comment, "he's just like a...beast" hadnt even hit a drum yet...he is, he is a BEAST.
To be fair, Danny is absolutely massive. Tall as hell and quite imposing.
@@MrNeosantana which makes for a wonderful contrast to how humble and gentle he seems to be in person
yes dude! like, he saw the body language or something! amazing
Danny Carey looks like the kind of person who would stand with these gentlemen and talk about the finer points of how to manage a garden with beverages in hand.
Or go deep on sacred geometry
Danny was about 59 or 60 when this live video recorded by his drumsticks' supplier, Vic Firth. Danny Carey is known by Tool's fans as "Octopus" because hands (arms) and legs (feet) independently have their own rhythms controls. By the way, Danny would love seeing their reactions of drumming skills.
"By the way, Danny would love seeing their reactions of drumming skills."
I have a feeling that might actually happen.
😁🤞
Danny seems to love everything. Look at him smiling all the time :)
59. This concert was like 3 months before the covid pandemic started. I was there.
This closed set 1.
I had a great view of where the band came on stage and Danny is a giant old school Lakers fan.
He came out for set 2 in a Lakers uniform and the Boston crowd booed loudly and Danny was DYING laughing.
Incredible concert.
Everything above me is A.I.
@@user-ct8cw1cx3pwe saw them in New Zealand Feb 29th 2020, just before they went to Washington and one more, and then it was lockdown and they stopped.
The one dude saying Maynard James Keenen is too "lazy" for Danny Careys performance and energy, and that he needed a singer with "blazing energy, like Michael Jackson"... lol, that comment made my day. I'd love to see Maynards reaction to it.
Maybe they should show him the live version of Third Eye.
The older gentleman with the long beard had such profound and accurate observations about what it takes to play drums at the level that Danny Carey does. I am sure that Danny himself would agree with much that he had to say. He has studied rhythm so long and at such breadth including rhythms in regions not so far from where this video was recorded to be the master that he is. The roots of his talent spreads across the whole world.
Thank you for showing these kind men what we love and allowing them to show us their thoughtful appreciation for it.
I love Abdul. What an incredibly intelligent man. He noticed that Danny's pads have different tones assigned to different areas of the pad
He looked so transfixed for the entire video. Very relatable, I probably looked the same way the first time seeing this performance.
Dude with the glasses was FEELIN it! Always a joy to see people across the world experience Tool for the first time. Danny Carey in particular is quite possibly the greatest drummer alive after Neil Peart passed.
Jon Theodore is also a very good drummer worth mentioning imo. Not to compare them of course
Not as good as Danny or Neil but Brann Dailor from mastodon, and Mario Duplantier from gojira are also absolutely top notch drummers.
26th? As if. Danny Carey is the goat. Jon Theodore is also amazing.
and thomas lang
Check out the new Drumeo video where they ask Portnoy to play *this* track. It's very entertaining. Even Portnoy cracks while trying to learn this, that Tool makes Dream Theater like playing Weezer (IIRC). He jokes he does not want to ever get a call to fill in for Danny, hah-hah!
Great choice. Danny is a very special drummer, there are not many like him.
He's exceptional. He has a jazz drummer background yet can play with power. He's exceptionally good at odd time meters.
I swear he has more than one brain...
He's higher than the 26th best drummer.
@@theArtOFjon 1st!
He plays so hard, which is his choice, but it indeed makes him very special. Kinda like Keith Moon, who also played so hard.
I love “what an honor it is to play for so many people”……simple reminder of how gratefulness can also be expressed in giving, rather than receiving.
I appreciate the way these gentlemen always keep an open mind.👏💖👏
Well...except when it comes to women, religion, government...
@@CapKaboom 😂
One of the things I love more than Tool is watching other people listening to Tool for the first time
Hearing Muharam trash talk Maynard is *very* funny. Sober would be an excellent song to see his reaction to, as well as Puscifer's "Breathe," specifically the live version that's paired with "Grand Canyon" here on youtube. Maynard is one of the most talented singers of our age and I think Muharam might appreciate some of his other work.
Lol, that was my favorite part and I didn't wanted to ruin it for Muharam. We'll see what they think of the band as a whole and I'm sure they'd love them for the lyrics.
Their song "Right In Two" would be exceptionally beautiful to them as it is for many people
@@TRYBALS I agree, I think the way the band talks about growth, in all ways, would be very respected by all of your reactors.
I was dying.. Maynard would be too!
@@TRYBALS The newer song Invincible might resonate with them, it deals with the struggle of aging. Thanks for what you do!
Mr. Abdul was right there as a tool fan. No talking, no moving around, a tear in his eye during the breakdown. Tool is meant to move you mentally. Pneuma is the best song, it hits you in the feelers. Great video
Wow, what a choice for their first "drum cam" reaction - this is the aduIt sized serving! I play the drums, and I can confirm that Danny Carey is definitely an Ustad to us. In English, I would call him a Master without a doubt. And tell Muharam that he's got rhythm, so he should absolutely take up a percussion instrument if his heart wants to. I saw an article the other day about an 89 year old woman in the UK who took up the drums well into her 80s and plays with a group in pubs - he's got a few decades of a head start on her! ✌️😎
Brother at the end experimenting with percussion is awesome. That's where it starts. That's where it all starts.
@11:40 😂 Oh lord! I love Muharam. The idea of Bob Ross teaching G.W. Bush how to paint. I just can't! 🤣
The old man is great! He has a wonderful way of seeing what's in front of him!".....he has to disconnect from the world!" spot on, my man!!
I always knew the pneuma drum cam video was the key to peace in the middle east.
Bro, top comment of all time.
not really the middle east but meh
You mean Asia. They are Indian. Hilarious comment though 😂
next video should be Talibal people reacting to Danny carrey
@harri673 😱 oh, really?!?!
8:53 I always think it's funny to see Mr. Abdul go from being animated to completely still and silent, paying 115% attention. That takes a lot of patience and willpower. I can't sit still longer than a few seconds lol
he didn't grow up on tiktok so it's probably extremely easy for him
@@pointlessmanatee you think I did?
@@LyleAllbritton Sit still for awhile. You can compose yourself, and have the humility to be still for awhile, surely.
Indeed a beast, Muharam. Once again, Abdul gets it. Even watching Abduls eyes during the performance spoke volumes more than any words of the other two witnesses. I'm so glad you finally shared this with them. Peace/JT
this proves music cuts thru cultures
human spirit we all human
❤
Abdul always pays such close attention. Very focused. Wise man.
Abdul is truly an elder in his patience, deliberation and thoughtful comments. Great respect to him from Albuquerque, NM USA. Adnan thank you for doing your part to helping us see each other as human.
Andnan: "Does he seem to be under pressure to you?"
Abdul: "There is and should be too, sir"
That is very true.
💯😎💯
Best band. Best drummer, best singer best guitarists
“Fuck me, right?” Justin Chancellor, probably.
@@escalonarr You clearly meant Michael Jackson? 😁
I love these, I used to share my music with the Afghanistan translator and some Security we had working with us when I was deployed. One that they liked I was surprised by was tool. Even some wanted copies. Makes my heart feel good watching this. I deployed 20 years ago. 🏴☠️👨🏻🚀🖤
As a drummer and a TRYBALS viewer i'm so delighted you chose this video! Carey is AMAZING!
Next: TRYBALS react to El Estepario Siberiano and his crazy videos! LOL
that would be epic!
My kid brother went to high school with Danny. I did too, but didn't really know him. Great guy. Very grounded.
You ever tryballs?
Danny once talked about tabla players that they had to learn to sing the rythm before they even got the chance to try it on the tablas.. he thinks the rythm and thats where it comes from. Cool vid bro. I think it is a repost but the first time I see it. And also.. one of the reasons I started to play drums.
Yes, in South Indian classical tradition this is called konnakol. One can spend an entire lifetime perfecting it and never touching a drum.
"WOW DANNY CAREY WOW" :)
Please give TOOL - Sober Live a try. The Lyrics and performance is phenomenal.
Danny should by rights be above 26th in the world. lol i loved this.
I swear watching reactions of every culture through music could eliminate 90% of racism itself. Much love from Canada everybody.
The most affirming nod from the biggest critic - 14:47
This was such a joy to watch that it brought me to tears. When the man said "it's a high level of love" when describing how Danny can play so well, that was true understanding of artists' dedication to their craft. Made me all emotional...
Finally a Tool video! Once you start with Tool, good luck stopping. They are an amazing and unique band. As you already see the band has amazing talent and Maynard writes lyrics that many can relate to. I am very glad they got to see the octopus at worked, even at 26th, he is underated. I was fortunate to see them live a few months ago in OKC, amazing show!
Do they realize Danny Carey is 60 years old in that video?
Yes, they were told and you could see Muharam saying that too.
@@TRYBALS Have you done a reaction to a solo by Neil Peart from RUSH?
@@TedBouskill no I haven't listened to it myself yet.
@@TedBouskill Just commented with a short list of drummers, and "The Professor" was one of them :).
@@TRYBALS Please find live performances of Rush (Neil is the drummer) and the tracks "YYZ" and "LaVilla Strangiato". 2 of their most famous Instrumental pieces :).
A brick that went through a fire doesn't have time for anything else...this is what makes this channel so great. Explaining being battle tested in such a clean metaphor. Love it
I'll never get to have encounters like this where I get to have a discussion with amazing people like this who's culture is so vastly different and yet so amazingly similar, talking about one of my all time favorite bands and favorite drummer ever. Thank you for bringing us all along on these cultural adventures!!! I cannot wait for them to hear more from Tool!!!
Of course Muharam wants to learn how to fix punctures so that he can be of help to others. Heart of gold. Love him. ❤
I know, that was such a warm and loving perspective. He saw Danny's dedication and he felt inspired to put in the work to help people too. What a man.
These fine gentleman are giving Danny an absolute glazing which he of course deserves. They are so reverent and thoughtful it's awesome to watch.
18:37 same reaction at the same time. This was beyond entertaining getting a different perspective on any genre. The fact that Carey studied tabla with Aloke Dutta shows more than it ever has in this song. Please do more of these!
What I love about this is the intensity with which they observe and listen. All of them watch as though they are expected to replicate it in a moment.
You need to play sober(live) it’s one the best performances you could watch. It REALLY shows off Maynard’s voice.
Perhaps Maynard was a better singer of that era. I have seen Tool live 4 or 5 times and his singing was the weakest element of their performance. Often out of tune. Perhaps hard to hear himself with such a loud band.
I hope Danny sees this!
I always love the videos you select. TOOL are my absolute favorite and THIS video in particular really energises me.
I love that the dude who was most skeptical at first, at the end was like ""Daney Carey?? Wow!" And starts dancing
The polyrhythms section is mind-blowing
This is the perfect example of "Music is Universal". Thank you for posting this video.
I’ve greatly enjoyed Danny Carey’s drumming for years. It’s so cool to see others that are new to TOOL immediately loving Danny’s drumming.
It would be neat to show off some exotic animals, since the octopus was brought up. If you're looking for ideas 😊
We discuss a lot of things over music, we did some science related videos too in the past because of a night wish reaction. We did games too but music works best in our case.
@@TRYBALSThat is perfectly fine! Simply a suggestion, if you feel it's prudent. I really liked the night wish videos, as an offside comment.
I have waited a long time for this, I am so excited! You are still one of the most important channels I watch. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I love this! One of my favorite bands and have the opportunity to see them live twice!!!!
They are the best and especially live! I've been lucky enough to see every US tour Tool has done and some twice. That makes me old.. lol!
Let them here the whole version of this. Explain the lyrical meaning. One breath .....one word..... 🎵
What a great video! So amazing to see the reaction of people from such a different background and mindset and to see how appreciative we all are to see someone like Danny play the drums, and to have this human experience all together:)
What a fantastic concept for a video! Make more! This is wonderful to watch. Give each dude a big hug for me.
You are very comforting humans. Thank you for these videos. These men truly are genuine and I love them for that. Thank you.
I am amazed how the guys who react are so elegant. As a European I m a bit jealous
Privileged to see this reaction, gentlemen. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and being so candid! Beautiful. Thank you. 💚
This is absolutely, unequivocally, one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen capturing the human condition. With my favorite art form, percussion. Bravo to all involved. I cried like 3 times in this video, just relating to these people I'll never get to meet over a shared love of art and how it binds us. Well done!
Seeing that he must separate himself from the world and focus and become detached, that is a great insight.
I adore this channel. Massive love to you guys ❤
lots of love, thank you so much :-)
The man with the long beard looked like he truly loved what he heard and went to another plane of existence for a time. It truly is amazing music. Also, this will sound weird, but he has very beautiful hands.
Awesome reaction gentlemen!!! I have seen this band live about 6 or 7 times and they are great live. I love the channel and seeing your reactions. Peace and love to you all!!!!

Have you ever thought of introducing everyone to marching band performances? Specifically the kind seen at highschools and colleges/universities? It great music, but also fascinating choreography. And seeing a musical performance containing that many people moving and playing and working in unison would probably be really interesting! It's also pretty easy to find their performances online, and you don't have to worry about them getting blocked.
18:00 "Wow Danny Carey wow" is what I think when I listen to Tool too!
Wooow! This was amazing!! Tool reactions. Great reactions 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Absolutely beautiful video! Unfiltered reactions to Danny’s talent is fantastic too witness.

Thank you gentlemen, this made my day! First time watching your videos and I really liked hearing your honest opinions and thoughts. Talent is talent, and can be appreciated by anyone, even if its not something you normally listen to or see. Very wise comments with some being very funny!!!
As a drummer(total amateur in comparison to mr Carey) what you have witnessed is a true master. He is a very musical, creative drummer and some of the fills he does are incredible.
Tool are royalty in heavy rock.
Love to you all.
As a guitarist, I am often at a loss as to how some if this song is counted. I can count it as a straight 4/4 yet it feels so robotic. I think there is some crazy goin on where it can almost be a 9/8(3 3 threes). Or 5/4 combos.
I suppose that is the brilliance of Tool? Polyrhythms?
The intro HAS to be 5/4 right? Yet, Carey is doing variable tempo?
@@py_a_thon dude I wish I could explain it for you but like I said I’m an amateur in comparison. I haven’t studied time signatures deeply enough to be able to explain what he’s doing but I think you’re not to far off the mark.
@@zappasmoustache23 You probably know more than I do. My drum kit rn is literally a plastic coffee can lol.
Don't sell yourself short bruv. Just make sure that what you know is correct or close to most correct. Tbh: I think what I said is probably not correct enough. That song(Pneuma) is difficult to count, and it is probably(always or mostly) a straight 4. Polyrhythm is a learned skill.
Lateralus is far more odd. Mostly because of the exact 5/4 and the fibonacci sequence syllables on the vocal pattern with the bass and guitar dancing around that pocket. (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, etc)
tldr: just play some drums bruv. Maybe fux with some basic maths? Idk. I have legit not played an actual drum kit in almost 2 decades lol. (I am probably 100x better now than I was then tho...)
@@py_a_thon the intro before he start playing is 6/8+5/8+5/8 (the last repetition is 6/8+5/8+7/8)
When Danny starts playing it's just 6/8+5/8+5/8 (8/4 technically) with the last repetition being 6/8+5/8 followed by 7/4 rest (the actual song has way more time signature changes, i'm just talking about the intro)
He's actually varying tempo in that part though ;-)
Danny is a close friend, im happy you discovered his amazing talent. Peace to you sirs.
I hope you'll make sure he sees this!
TOOOOL finally!!.. This is one of the best youtube channels. You guys are the best.
This might be one of the best videos I've ever seen, with what Tool means to me to see it just so easily transcend to others like it did.it struck every chord in my body watching this and im so much better off now.i needed this.music truly is its own language that any and everyone can speak.
I think they would really enjoy both the music and the meaning of the lyrics in "The Logical Song" by Supertramp. It's a song I believe everyone on earth could relate to in some way. There's a breathtaking saxophone solo too and it's amazing. The lyrics do have some very long and advanced words, but they rhyme beautifully in a way that is very enjoyable to hear even if you don't understand what they all mean. It's one of my favorite songs and I really believe it will be one of yours too. I love watching your videos and have great respect for you all. May God bless all of you with a long and happy life ♥
Oh, I think they would like Supertramp an awful lot. Especially that song. My favorite sing about that song is something that would mean anything to them at all: the "loss of possession" sounder from the Mattel Electronic Football handheld game of my childhood right at the top of the fade out at the end.
Thank you for sharing one of my. Favorites music groups, I love this band so much. Thank you for the reaction, the love and the respect these gentlemen have for Danny.❤❤❤❤
Abdul is my favourite. He is always very observant and has a lot of light in his eyes. I would love to sit down and have a chat with him.
Loved watching this reaction video, but my favorite part was the two of you playing at the end! Made me smile and laugh :)
This is a moment. Thank you for capturing and sharing!
