Good idea. I think you're right.
Good looking bed but I would advise 1 thing for your next truck that you build on. I pull a lot, and I mean A LOT. For the last 20 or so years, everytime I put a gooseneck setup on a truck, rather than setting that ball directly over center like everyone seems to like to do, I move mine 6" ahead of the rear axle center. You'ld be astonished at how big of an improvement that 6" of movement makes for pulling. 95% of trailers out there can handle that additional 6" without any clearance issues for the bed. But if you are making a flatbed yourself and it looks like it could be an issue, you can either dovetail the back end of the bed or you can just lop off 6" of the bed's length. Either of those sacrifices is well worth the price for what moving that ball 6" forward will give you.
Make a channel to go over that that you bolt on from the bottom up that'll hold the ends and protect them

I never would have thought that galvanizing would warp 10 gauge either.

maybe make a wooden box over the goose neck with the remains of the deck wood, then everything will look the same.
maybe for that cabling of the sander make some female NOT connected connectors on the frame or under deck where you put the cabling connectors in,
then they are "stuck" in place and covered up .

Probably has a good alternator on it. Great Videos. In addition to the chemical cartridge on the respirator it’s best to have a combo with the pink particulate filter to stop small fume particulates
It has a very good alternator on it, a very expensive one when it craps out.
for that back portion of wood deck, i'm thinking bend some sheet into a sorta C channel. Route a grove on the top of the boards so the channel will sit flush. Then screw the channel down to the boards into counter-sunk holes. Drill/tap/screw in the bottom of the channel to the bumper again with countersunk holes. everything should be recessed so you don't see any nuts or bolts sticking out. Other than that, this thing looks amazing, you did a great job on it.

I really like your flatbed build it gives me some ideas I have an 89 F350 Heavy duty so basically it's f450 18.5 Hauling weight.
I was going to put a duly bed on it but I decided to build a flatbed forward I'm trying to think of what kind of flat bed I'm trying to build
I believe if you hadn't done it I would put me some plugs in the rail back there for that sander to plug in like you did your gooseneck wiring harness for your lights that way they would be protected from moisture and from hanging on something
Good idea. My plow has a similar feature for its plugs. I always pack full of electric grease.
Really nice truck. Just an opinion but to keep the sun off the back of your head and protect the back window you could build a bolt in louver panel out of some flat stock and paint it black to make it disappear. With the right angle you would still have good visibility looking through.
That's a good Idea. Like back on the OBS Chevy's. I am probably going to pop an OEM Ford Rear slider in this this upcoming summer though.
Nice job. I drive a long body E350 and have thought many times about cutting the cab just behind side doors so I could try and run fifth wheel. Mine is a V8 so it's only rated 7,500 bumper pull. It's a stressful day pulling a big trailer that way. The steering seems to get ultra twitchy. Did you notice any steering differences? I know you weren't pulling heavy. Perhaps if you try to pull 10k off the bumper it'll be noticeable. Anyway, I like what you did there. I've seen the V10 dually cutaway vans with sleeper cabs and air ride for flat bed hauling and such, they are pretty neat too. Good luck with your truck.

Do you have any pre fabed kits for Ford E-450 Van? Nice work buddy!
I'm looking at a cutaway van to tow a 5th wheel. I'm having trouble finding info on GVWR compared to trucks and chassis cabs, probably because everybody (including Ford) just assumes a van will only be used for a bumper pull trailer. I'd be interested in any info you have on the comparison between a van chassis and a truck chassis. I would think the van would actually have a higher axle rating, since the van is designed to carry weight rather than tow weight.
It would have made a great video to show how to install the Cab Back and it's frame mounting setup (which from their website looks pretty cheesy)
I have yet to find a video anywhere about their installation. Even a video just kinda looking around the inside of it, at the joints, and at the mounts could be helpful.

Right attitude, life works better when you can NetWork. Now as progressing onward , with the sander attachment , will you need to get this rig weight registered before and after full load ?
Truck is registered to 26k. That's all state of Maine requires. Over 10k gvwr is registered as commercial vehicle. I have cdl a. Not too worried about getting summons from weight.

I bought a 2013 ford e450 v10 6.8L at a police auction, it's equipped with a municipal "Marshall" prisoner transport body and I really need to find a place that can swap the trailer body! At least now I know it can be done! If anyone knows how I can find a place that can swap the truck body please reply! I'm in the new england region
When I was watching the video of him wiring up the headache rack I was looking at the height of the headache rack with the strobes on and the height of the garage wondering will it fit through the garage doors? 16:21

I noticed flex in the cab fiberglass. Suggestion build a steel tube to add strength to the fiberglass cab back. Food for thought.
It would be better to lay up a fiber glass reinforcement.
Also, if it had the correct glass, I think it would stiffen up a lot.

You should have left the angle going under the frame to help for support so it doesn't fall down your weld will probably break over a year
What part of the frame are you referring to? The running boards? I wanted to have the angle go all the way across, but the transmission crossmember and exhaust was in the way, The running boards are bolted to the rockers and front fender well. The piece I made only really keeps the edge from flopping around. I will keep an eye on it and see if there is a failure. Of course, if there is, I can always fix it.
I've done that All I did was put the angle over towards the transmission then another angle down and other angle under the transmission 2 in from the transmission and up and it will still higher than the axles.
You can go over or under the transmission. I'm a welder also.just ideas.
The 2" peace to go under the frame on each side.
Plus if you’re bartering the government can’t tax that!

Hey, it was only 7k for a 6 year old truck. I'm not complaining. LOL. Diesel is nice though. I love my Ram Diesel, but with fuel at $2 more per gallon than gas, Even at 40 percent fuel efficiency (which it doesn't get) wouldn't pay for the difference in operating costs. My Ram stays parked most of the time when fuel is so unbalanced.
Any steel bed made for the north should be galvanized. How much does something like that cost?
