I met George for all of ten seconds back in the mid 90s. Shook his hand and said "How are you?" to which he replied in a very scouse sounding accent "fine, thank you!". A surreal moment I'll remember forever.

I met George in the late 80s in a guitar store called Norms Rare guitars. Norm "shushed" us as we walked in the shop as he pointed to the side wall where two guys were pulling a guitar off the wall. It was George with Tom Petty! GH heard the "shush" and walked up to me and asked me a question.."Am I suppose to know you?" and I replied.. "No, I think it's the other way around !" We both had a good laugh. Thanks for the backhanded introduction Norm, and the fact a one time member of the Fab4 asked me a question. Lol. Mustve been a Travelling Wilbury at the time!
Dude, Tom and George are literally my top two artists right now, I would’ve actually just died of an aortic aneurism. My excited heart wouldn’t have been able to take it. Tom Petty is my all-time fave.
@@MrWinstonOBoogie George is so funny and sweet. That's incredible! Plus if Tom Petty was there too, I think I might have gone crazy as I love his work too. ❤️❤️❤️
I've always loved this song. I went to a Dark Horse concert 9 months pregnant (my daughter was born 2 weeks later). The baby quieted down each time George sang and she remains a George Harrison fan 50 years later. She has all his music in her house.
At last! George's work deserves complete and carefully curated archive editions like those of Paul and John, so that everyone can discover the many hidden gems he has created.
I do not know that I ever loved a musical artists or other celebrity. When Beatles first arrived, my classmates ~ the girls ~ all had crushes on Paul McCartney. I favored George.
I am so grateful that George is getting the attention he deserves with this remaster. Beautiful album from a beautiful man. I hope the master tapes of all his albums are forever cherished by Oliva and Dhani.
This is not a re-master but rather a studio 'take', #18,which means it was the 18th time they recorded it before eventually settling on the final released version, which may or may not have been several times after or before this version.I'm surprised I'm the only comment that noticed,or at least mentions there isn't the slide guitar intro and lead which really embellished the tune.
@@robriceridge I meant the album Living In The Material World. I know that this is take 18. I believe no one commented on the lack of those guitar parts because this is either a different take, or the basic take used.
I was always amazed how pure his voice sounded in 1972-1973 after years of smoking 2 or 3 packets of cigarettes each day for many years. His vocal range was at its peak on the Material World album. Unfortunately in later years the smoking did take a toll on his voice.
I also met George and Olivia back in 1996 at Bhaktivedanta Manor. Hare Krishna temple. I gave him pranams 🙏🏼 (folded prayer hands) and said "Hari bol" (chant the names of Lord Krishna) this is how devotees of Krishna greet each other or also say 'Radhe Radhe.' George looked deep into my eyes and smiled. Beautiful moment. I also have a Conifer tree on my allotment that originated from Friar Park via Bhaktivedanta Manor memorial garden for George Harrison. It was surplus to requirement, so the head gardener, Uddhava gave it to me along with some black grass along with a Sedum aka Stonecrops. The Conifer tree and the Sedum are still alive and the tree is over 15ft tall :) I would put a sign under it but probably some jealous person would maybe trash both the tree and the sign. The tree will live on just like George's legacy. Thank you Olivia and Dhani. I will preorder my copy of this fantastic LP. Krishna bless you both. RIP George. Tom and George stayed friends after the Wilburys, they’d spend Christmases together! I read about it in Petty's biography. :)

I agree but I'm not sure how well a Gone Troppo super deluxe would sell

Like John’s, not Paul’s.
Yes, the Lennon archival releases are the better ones by far, now I'm very dissapointed that this deluxe edition in not including demos nor Deep Blue

Dear George, your heart, your message, your love never die.
Love how the 12 string is so upfront in the mix, as well as George's vocals. Great this is released in 2024
But there is only the guitar and vocals on this track.
