Many years ago I dreamed with George sitting in a chair and playing an electric guitar unplugged, as if rehearsing. I went over and I do not remember what I said and he smiled and said "just show yourself the way you are" and lowered his head and continued playing the guitar.
Donna Simms I saw George in concert just once, on his only full U.S. tour in 1974, in support of his “Dark Horse” LP. “Dark Horse” was the name of the tour. His voice was hoarse on the album, and sounded much more hoarse during the show. He must’ve been in pain. It was disappointing at the time, and rock critics were very unkind, but nobody knew then it was to be George’s only U.S. solo tour. Thankfully, George got his voice back after the tour. I am so glad I went to that concert! I love George.

That moment after 2:17... I got emotional. The japanese camera crew actually shoted in a way that captured both George singing and the wonderful back up singer making those beautiful harmonies on top of George's voice. That's what makes this performance and this version so beautiful.

The japanese camera crew actually shoted in a way that captured both George singing and the wonderful back up singer making those beautiful harmonies on top of George's voice.
That's what makes this performance and this version so beautiful.

@@ryan0150George was famously the “spiritual Beatle”. Having been slipped LSD at a dinner party, he and the rest of the band enjoyed expanding their minds using it. George stated that while on a trip, the thought “the yogis of the Himalayas” kept coming to him. Apparently the band were handed a book on reincarnation which also sparked an interest. After meeting Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Beatles famously travelled to Rishikesh to study meditation. George really embraced it. A lot of his songs are George expressing himself to his God, including this one - “keep me free from birth” meaning to achieve Moksha: liberation from the reincarnation cycle.
Through being such a beloved celebrity figure and through the content of his incredible songs, George definitely had an important role in spreading spirituality.
