    as a 737 full size cockpit builder, I ask Asobo to make a view"without nothing" for the very fisrt start. The more we are in this process, the better we'll be eard.

      Completely agree which I why I generally favour XPlane. VFR graphics does need to be improved. Some remote airstrips in Australia hard to find in XP but much easier in FS2020. Thanks for tuning in.

    MSFS still is better because I can fly any plane. You can't, you are stuck with your shell. Would not look right if you wanted to fly a 727 or any other plane. But yes for your one plane the views are better

    I feel your pain...
    I built my my Cessna 172 home cockpit prior to the msfs2020 release and I was very much anticipating a more realistic immersive experience. While waiting for the release I loaded X-Plane 11 and worked all the bugs out with the SIM.
    I thoroughly enjoyed XP 11 and how realistic it was. Covid was killing my piloting skills, I needed to keep current.
    Then 2020 was released....
    The frustration had begun....
    Trying to set up views, buggy and a very glitchy UI and constant crashing.
    Began to dawn on me that in 23 hours of gameplay (according to steam) I hadn't actually flown anywhere for more than 30 seconds in that entire time!
    I completely agree with you, this is not a program for home cockpit simmers.
    Enjoy it for what it's meant to be, a game.

      thanks mate. I must admit the graphics on FS2020 are bloody good, especially for VFR navigation. Just wish you could select parts of the aircraft to display like in XPlane...having said that, I have configured a view to look somewhat reasonable and intend on publishing some FS2020 videos soon.....after 3 years. Watch this space.

    • @hiker44-oe8sr

      Thoroughly enjoying your videos btw.
      I've test driven FS2020 (as that was original plan to use it in my sim) but aside from the awful bezel alignment issues which we both have experienced, I had issues with the menu UI. It was always on the centre monitor half buried behind my instrument panel and glare shield. No amount of fiddling or curse words resulted in moving the menu to the left (as on XP) or right monitor or even resizing it. Did you use a remote monitor to bypass this issue?
      Also a tip I used for my visible black bezel issue you may want to try:
      At each intersection of the monitors I installed reflective 100 mph speed tape. It was cut very thin, just enough to cover th visible bezel and wrap around the corner to the monitor screen.
      In the aviation industry we use it to cover up small defects on the airliner skin until repair can be made. It's reflective enough mirror the screen but enough to distract.
      If you're not able to source it locally, I imagine metalized heating duct tape would suffice.
      Cheers!

    Just got my sim running with MSFS2020 and I'm messing with the views too. Its not too bad if you don't have the physical cockpit, so IMO for those who want to fly MSFS, don't build the physical cockpit and just use the MSFS digital C172 cockpit for best immersion.

  • @shadetreehomesim
    @shadetreehomesim Рік тому +1

    That’s exactly why I didn’t build the full shell (as much as I wanted to). MSFS is still pretty buggy, especially the experimental extra monitors…I’ve had the external views just fail entirely. Biggest issue for me is having to recode everything within mobiflight…may have to play around with it though.

    • @CessSim
      @CessSim  Рік тому +1

      thanks. I have considered stripping down the shell, but to be honest, I feel it provides a better level of immersion, and also provides a level of practicality (eg headphone holders, charging ports, pockets etc) all in the side walls.........

    there is always annoying stuff by sims. I do not know they do it intentionally or by ignorance. how much more if using actual fuselage. you can fix it by actual fuselage is not fixable.the other things bother me is actually your tv lines. why do not use 77 "" or 83"" tv???? totally will cover that down part of your sim.

    • @CessSim
      @CessSim  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback. Not as easy as getting a larger TV as the bezels on the side TV's need to connect to the front. A larger front TV will cause the side TV's to stick out away from the side and look terrible. I am working on a bezel hide (part of my upgrade journey) which will improve this, and for a C172, I believe that 55" is the right size. But hey, that's me !

    Hi. I can certainly see your issues and the reason you’ve gone the way you have. As I’ve mentioned here before I’ve committed myself to MSFS in my build (C310 sim in an actual C172 cockpit). The way I ended up going was to adjust my position in the cockpit by editing the “InitialXYZ” line in the Camera.cfg file. This pops “my head” just up through the roof of the cockpit. The upside is that I’m not looking through any interior parts, the downside is that the wing view in the left and right TVs is just slightly elevated, but it’s really not very noticible. I know this isn’t possible in a high winged plane, which is a shame. I thought a consideration for you could be “Wideview” by Luciano Napolitano. I used it with FSX. I believe it’s available with MSFS and it can be used to set custom views. Could be worth a look.

      Oh ok, was that just changing one or more of the 3 numbers in the InitialXYZ line? I haven’t had any issues doing that. I haven’t changed anything else in any other lines. I should have mentioned but, it’s always a good idea to rename and save the original file so you can revert to it if things get out of hand. I hope you get it sorted out!

    I agree with you. For your usage XP12, or even 11, are more realistic. I don't have your problem, as I have no physical cockpit. Just screens. But still, XP offers more flexibility in how those screens are set up. I am able to use both sims, but I definitely prefer the feel of XP (Not the visuals or performance though).

      thanks mate. Appreciate the feedback. Interested in your views in XP12 4K vs 2K vs 1080P. I did some tests the other day with my front monitor (which is a 4K display), and to be honest I am not noticing much difference at all in the graphical representation.

    • @flightsimdeskuk
      @flightsimdeskuk Рік тому

      @@CessSim Really? It surprises me that you can't see much difference on such large screens. Things should definitely be sharper at 4k with less shimmering. Especially on thin items like power lines. Though I guess TVs usually have fairly decent upscalers in them compared to computer monitors, so maybe less noticeable if upscaling is on. Anyway, if you are happy with 1080p, I'd stay at that rather than give yourself the headache and additional cost of adding a second PC to run higher resolutions.

    • @CessSim
      @CessSim  Рік тому

      @@flightsimdeskuk To be honest I feel the additional resolution is needed. Spotting small airports in the distance can sometimes be problematic with 1080p pixelation and this can be an issue in VFR conditions. I still intend on upgrading to 2K all round and I reckon this will still work on the single PC but as you have pointed out, beyond that and additional PC is required. Did you have a video on the screen resolution at 1080P vs 2K vs 4K? I would be interested to see it (provided you can record to UA-cam in 4K). Thanks for the feedback.

    I too have my own rig and hoping MFS will one day sort this out to make view manipulation more flexible. Just a thought, …your frustration seems to be trying to fit MSF view to fit with your cockpit rig. But if you only fly one particular aircraft, can you not fix your rig around the MFS view? In other words, rebuild your rig panelling and trace it around the given simulator view that you are after. Of course it means de-rigging and starting new and after building my 5th generation home cockpit, it time consuming and a mental barrier to one more rebuilding your rig. But, of course and as I said why can’t MFS sort this out or at least indicate that one day they will work on it.

    • @CessSim
      @CessSim  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Rocky and appreciate you watching this video. Whilst a good idea (ie building the rig to suit the sim), I dont think it will solve the issue of the view between wings and front panel. What MSFS needs is functionality like X-Planes planemaker in my opinion, and then (as cockpit builders) we can truly tinker with it. As you can see from my videos I have invested a fair bit of time and energy into this rig, so not really considering a complete re-build at this stage.
