    Appreciate the golden nuggets of wisdom in your setup advice! Roll and Vertical Rotation settings are indeed crucial and seem to vary with the physical arrangement of one's monitors. With my 3x27 setup, the configurations differ slightly. And the tip about scaling down from 4k is pure gold-what a game-changer! Thanks for elevating our rig configurations!

    Great video thank you, this is very informative. I have 3 42inch LG C2's powered by NVIDIA 4090. I'm going to call the LG C2's Monitors and the MSFS Windoes screens.
    I'm coming from Sim Racing and MSFS 2020 was on sale because of 2024 coming out, I though trying my hand at Flight Sim.
    I have the 3 monitors working thankfully to this video.
    However I can only have my MSFS screens windowed.
    If I set them to fullscreen, each MSFS window stretches across all three monitors. Do I need to turn off NVIDIA surround off?
    How are you getting each window in full screen without them trying to take up all three monitors.
    Thanks in advance.

      @DaSimSimma  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi friend, this question comes up quite often. I don't expect you to go back and read every comment but the answer is pretty simple. You have to go on Amazon and order yourself a cable that starts off as display port and ends up as HDMI. They make those cables. But you must be extremely careful. I am not lying to you. When I tell you that I ordered over 15 cables. Some will say that they handle the high bit rate at 4k and 60 hertz but they will not. Furthermore, the problem you're going to have is if your TVs can handle 120 hertz those cables are going to be even more rare to come by. They will be available. They might be expensive and they might have to be sent back a couple times until you get ones that work properly. The way you know a cable doesn't work is literally no image comes out so don't get frustrated. That's just how it works. Please come back here and let me know after you've resolved this issue. I'm very curious and very excited for you to get this going

    Very helpfull video. And great sim you've got there ! Really looking forward to having one like this one day, for the winter, when flying is not easy in the northern hemisphere. Great job !
    Although, while recently fiddling with this MSFS feature, I thought a bit about how you understood it. And I'm not sure you are right about the lateral rotation offset parameter.
    Because, if you draw a triple monitor setup from above, you'll find out that your point of view is always at the same angle from the center to a side screen, as your side screen angle from the center one. If your head is on the center of this "screens arc", these two angles will always be the same.
    In fact, MSFS doesn't know the real life dimensions of one's screens, and therefore, its in game field of view doesn't match one's real life field of view. It only matches it when one actually sets up screens 90° apart from one another and sits right in the middle of them.
    Which makes me think that MSFS approximately shows an image with a 90°-ish field of view (45° left + 45° right) for each screen, which is more or less what you can easily get IRL with your giant screens 👍🙂. But this is also why one has to get the lateral rotation offset parameter close to 90° (you got 88°), in order not to have an image gap between screens.
    I remember that X-Plane allowed fiddling with the field of view when rendering a new window. You can do it in MSFS too, if you tune the zoom parameter in general graphic options. This is the only way (at the moment), to get the in game FOV, close to the real life FOV, whatever the size of one's screens.
    That's it. Sorry for the geometrics lesson, I know it can be boring. But for those who are using less bigger screens than yours, it's important to know that they're not gonna set a lateral rotation offset parameter even close to their real life head angle from one screen to another. It will be close to 90° anyway, regardless of the angle or size of the screens.

      @DaSimSimma  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much for such an in-depth explanation ! This is my second attempt at a reply since I'm using speak to text while I'm doing something else. My last attempt ended up half in English half in Romanian...lol...don't ask !
      I think you make very very valid points. I do agree with you that at the end of the day will arrive at 90. But then again that makes what I said correct too that it's in reference to your eye point 90° from Center seems to bring both side screens into alignment. I also understand and agree with you that if you use the scroll wheel on the mouse you can zoom in and out and change the field of view therefore adjusting the overlap further to reduce or enhance it. The very disappointing thing about this whole situation is that I had to come up with my own explanation and you had to come up with your own also. That is very sad when you think that this triple screen technology has been around for over a decade. In that many other games out there provide this technology and in a way that it's very easy to understand and relatable to real life. I am also very annoyed, that after reading such an in-depth explanation is yours, I am still slightly confused. And that is not a reflection of how you described it but a reflection of how confusing things are set up by microsoft. The fact that this is becoming an interpretive dance rather than facts is it the core of the whole problem.
      Anyways, I really do appreciate such effort that you put into explaining and if you find out more or if you have a way of clarifying further for me I would be glad to hear some more theories. I'm no way deflecting your proposal but rather admitting defeat : either this thing clearly doesn't make sense or I am not intelligent enough to understand this unnecessarily difficult issue before us .
      Happy flight my friend . Please come back often and continue to provide your insight !

      @@DaSimSimma Yeah, flight simulation... always been a bad sheep in terms of ergonomy or easy to use interface stuff ! When you realize we had to wait untill MSFS to get nice light reflection effects and be able to fly at 30fps without needing a state of the art computer to run a flight sim, you really measure how deep is the problem with flight sims etc...
      And believe me, I'm a train driver in France, the sims used for training are still ten to twenty years late in terms of graphics, when professional aviation simulator makers can afford to keep up improving a little. But through the years it's getting better and better ! Thanks for your answers ! Have some good flying and driving !

      To run a proper triple screen setup like this, you must use individual output ports into individual TVs. You cannot use a HDMI splitter. Most new graphic cards will have a minimum of three outputs on the back and they are usually DisplayPort. My TVs are HDMIs in my graphics card is DP but they make cables that go between the two. I literally got my triple screen setup working today. As a simmer using the near-study level WB Sim add-on for the Cessna 172, I am using FS2020 to build skills and knowledge ahead of embarking on my PPL. Three screens is a must-have for this, without doubt. I spent a few hours playing with the perspective settings and came to the same conclusions as yourself - that it's all about the eyeball position of the pilot. The only thing I am still struggling with is my right screen - I just can't quite get the perspective of the last few inches of the cockpit panel to align with the centre. Another point to mention, is the difference when choosing to centre oneself right in the middle of the cockpit as if there was only one yoke in dead centre. This kinda feels better overall but it isn't an accurate representation of the 172 cockpit layout. End of the day, if you're using FS2020 for flight training, small inaccuracies across 3 screens becomes almost unnoticeable. One last comment to make is despite copying your settings in FS2020 and in NVIDEA, my frame rates are not good and I am using a RTX 3060 ti. I will keep tinkering. Thanks so much for your content on triple screens - it has helped me loads.

I have a discord channels set up .we only have a few members . If I can grow that community maybe we can all hop in there and help each other out with individual issues. I am also on my way to a ppl. I have no hard timeline but I myself am also using the 172 WB to simulate reality. Lastly , I like what you're saying about centering the in-game view in the center screen perfectly but only if I then get to slide over and sit biased to the left of my main screen . Lol I would need 80 inch screens to make this feel accurate but it is not out of the realm of reality . Here's a secret , don't tell my wife ......one day ...I will upgrade to triple 75 or 80 inch screens ....just wait ... 😂 😆 🤣 ( If she reads this post my sim room will mysteriously go up in flames )

      It's funny that you ask this question. I enjoy it exactly the same as the first day. I actually keep investing in it every so often. Getting better and better gear. It's a bit of a disease. Next stop on the menu is a better computer motion simulation in OLED 65-in screens. I don't intend to stop any day. The other reason this is interesting is because I've also considered the Sim rig versus getting a pilot's license. One of my friends at work has a license and it's an absolutely amazing feeling to enjoy the fruit of his labor with him. Unfortunately that hobby is a lot more expensive than just a pilot's license, and I'm sure you already know that. That's not to say either or, but it's much easier to maintain my hobby than to go and pursue his. Stay. The course my friend get yourself a Sim rig that works in the winter summer fall. It works when it's raining. It works when you're sad and when you're happy. I hope I'm making my point. If you want to take a flight, find a friend. Pay $270 for 2 hours and come on back down and play Sim racing with us;)

    Hi, Thanks for this great video.
    A key alignment is also the front monitor position regard to the axis of Pilote/Yoke/PFD (or Artificial Horizon). I saw setups with the front monitor centered on the Pilote axis. But for I do not think that this is the gooe setup. Monitor should rather be shifted to the right so that Pilote/Yoke/PFD axix is pointing to the lefs part of the front screen.
    Question is how to determine the best shift of the front screen ?

On one hand things will be bigger in exactly one to one skill to real life. But there's something weird about the screens being that far away. The way to defeat this is to have a completely dark room. I have a custom built room with no windows or anything in my basement. It's a small detail but I thought I would mention it . @boostedmedia channel talks about the same thing in one of their older videos . But , he has 65 oleds . Try watching some of his content . I only discovered this feature in MSFS yesterday after getting back into flight sims, i have 4 monitors and setting them all up was easy as hell. The biggest issue i have now is being annoyed that this isn't a feature in all games. I don't know the technology behind it but is it really that hard to do? I can't for the life of me understand how on earth you would put time and effort into a sim game and not implement this feature. I'd love to know why Multiview isn't just a piece of software that works in any game and why Nvidia with all their technology give us crap like Nvidia Surround.

      At the time of making this video I was running a 3080 so I think you should have no concerns. Please remember that any graphics card that you buy has safety features in place and settings for the fans to kick on and if it ever gets overheated, it will absolutely shut down the PC to save itself. So she should have no concerns. Another big misconception is the bigger the TVs, the more the graphics card has to work. Which couldn't be further from the truth. I have a 13-ft projector in my basement that doesn't take any more power to play games on than a 28-in screen. It's all about resolution. I know you didn't ask about that portion but I wanted to put that out there because there's so much misnowledge spreading around

I wouldn’t want to throw away the money and i want to be sure first, I said 43" and not 55" because I think "a bit smaller a bit better image resolution" maybe I'm wrong?😅

    • @DaSimSimma
      @DaSimSimma  28 днів тому +1

      @AlessandroAtzori-vv2je there could be an argument where 4K meaning something like 12 million pixels can look better on a small screen than 12 million pixel on a 80-in screen. We can all assume and extrapolate that the pixels are bigger since there's the same amount of pixels on a small end or a big screen. I know that for sure because on my projector which can project in 4k at 13 ft. Across my wall when I get up close I can actually really literally see the pixels. So I guess all that to say you are correct. A smaller screen might look more densely packed with pixels. Therefore, look like them more defined accurate image. But all that said, what the heck do I know? I'm just a guy who likes to play games just like you hahahha

    • @DaSimSimma
      @DaSimSimma  11 місяців тому

      I will have to go down and check but it has something to do with running it in multiple monitor mode versus Nvidia surround mode. One of the two causes the exact scenario you just described. Where one window hides behind the other. The reason you can only select 2000 by 1400 is because that is the only resolution reminder except. And it knows that from your window / Nvidia settings . No sense in offering you a higher resolution if your screen cannot output that resilution

      I GOT IT I just got the answer as I typed this !!!! You have to set each window to 2000x1400 and they will all appear right on top of one another you have to go back and tell it to go into windowed mode not full screen!!! You have to do that in the main window and also in the same menu where you added the additional side screens . Each one has to be designated whatever the opposite of full screen is....i think it's borderless windowed ...??Now that we are in windowed mode you can grab each window and place it on each monitor. You can grab each window and try to magnetize it to the top of each monitor which will therefore make it into full screen only on that monitor. I'm sure you've done this with windows before so you know what I'm talking about. After you've done this and you've assigned a position to each window one to the left one in the center and one on the right ... Now we go back in the menus display, and we assign each window to full screen mode!!!

I'm what you could call a lazy gamer. I don't sit in a regular gaming chair that is upright. I usually sit in my recliner and have my controls moved where I need them so I can be comfortable. The main reason I angle mine is because I'll be at an angle from reclining so they will have to be adjusted to the focal points a little different than if I were to sit upright and straight.

    Wouldn't Vertical rotation offset (or a combo of vertical + roll) help with what I like to call the "waterfall" effect that you talked about at 3:20 (when you sit too high/low)? As an avid sim racer I'm also well aware of the importance of getting your eyeline at screen center...for older sims (AMS1, AC). For most modern sims with good triple support, you have the option of adjusting where your eyeline is, so you won't get that warped waterfall effect on the side monitors (iRacing, Raceroom and a couple others all have settings to account for this)...I think it's called Horizon offset in iRacing. I drive mostly modern F1 type cars and have positioned my rig to have that kind of layout (reclined seating position, wheel positioned high), so my eyeline is very low relative to the center of the monitor.
    I've been trying to decide whether to buy MSFS for years now, I tried it briefly when it first released and they didn't have multiple rendering then, so I said I'm not paying for it until it does. MSFS is on sale now for a week so now I'm reconsidering, but if there's no way to compensate for a horizon mismatch then I might have to skip it again, as I barely do any flying compared to racing.

      I'm so sorry for this extremely delayed response. I wouldn't let that tiny feature keep you away from this game, it is quite amazing. With all that said I'm completely pissed off at them and the stupid hahahaha . They are coming out with a new version in 2024 they're going to ask us all for another $100. That's why I'm pissed. But the game itself is absolutely amazing. Regarding your role comment just get the game and you'll see how stupid that feature is and how it makes no sense at all hahahhaha

      I need to tell you ahead of time that this is just an opinion. Not knowing exactly every setting that you have ETC.
      1 I hope you have an Nvidia card. I'm not sure how AMD does things.
      2. You must run the game in triple screen , but NOT IN NVIDIA SURROUND .
      3. Run the game in "multi monitor mode" with three properly aligned monitors .
      4.run the game FIRST in WINDOWED MODE instead of full screen !
      5. Create these new windows. And apply your best guess for"lateral rotation. Mine I somewhere in the high 80's in degrees.
      Even when you get this far , the NEW windows will still appear on top of one another .
      6. Because the game is now running in windowed mode, you can click up at the top of the window and drag it to the left or the right monitor period do that for the additional two windows with the appropriate one on the right in the other on the left of the center monitor
      7. If you got this far and everything is working we're almost done. Now that the two new windows are on the monitors they belong to, you can carefully click at the top of each window and drag it with your mouse until it hits the top of the screen . this will make this new window snap and fill the whole monitor .you can do that for the left and the right period even now although it takes up the full screen we are running the game in windowed mode. but I hope right now everything is aligned and working .
      8. Final step . Go back to graphics settings and make sure to put the game in full screen in the main graphic settings. There will only take care of the center main window. Now go to the options where you added the two new windows and also set those two options for those two windows to full screen period. Going through these ridiculous convoluted steps should help you arrive at the same place I am at.
      8. If all of this worked now you have to write to Microsoft and ask them how come some idiot on UA-cam has to explain how the game functions. And how come that same idiot had to make a video to explain to everybody how to set up their windows.....and how come ....this game is so frustrating. Ok ...jokes aside. I hope that helps friend ! . By the way, if you go to my UA-cam about page you'll find a link to a discord. If you jump on my discord I will do my best to help you out. I'm having a family emergency at this time and might not be able to be immediately available but I'll do my best to help you wherever I can
      I really hope that this made sense , used speech to text. I'm not necessarily in a position to sit down and write this out properly. Good luck friend

    • @DaSimSimma
      @DaSimSimma  10 місяців тому

      I found a gentleman somewhere in England that creates custom bezel kits for up to 65 inch screens. That is what you're looking at in this video. Somewhere on my page you can see a video where I've glued two kits together so four actual pieces of plastic. I've long since moved away from that. Speaking of, I still owe that gentleman a nice UA-cam review. I love his stuff and it's so affordable. So much more affordable than buying the Asus bezel free kit!

      Sorry for the late reply, continue to mess with the degree number. Try changing it by 0.1 at a time. Also, use your scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out. That should also give you some adjustability. That's scroll wheel will look like it's zooming in but what it's actually doing is changing the field of view.

      Thank you Tom . I forgot to talk about Field of View and Zoom. In this game they are tied together and they have a weird effect. I need to make a quick follow up video to cover that . Field of view, zoom and physically moving inside the airplane cabin forward and backwards also plays a role in how you view the images in triple screen

I'm trying not to be overly negative and critical of asobo and Microsoft ....but when you are the only one doing triple screen implementation like this , either you don't know what you're doing and you didn't research the completion OR.....the game is so technically challenging that this was the only solution that would work right now. I would like to believe it the latter because I am pretty dam sure they have a top notch crew working over there. That and, I am not necessarily interested in bang bang shoot shoot and perhaps I enjoy aimlessly looking around in a tiny Cessna with no purpose whatsoever. 😂 With all that said DCS is an amazing game and I have friends that play it and enjoy thoroughly!
