I have enjoyed flight simulation for many many years, and whilst I am not a qualified pilot (at least not yet), I was inspired to build my own creation and learn from all those talented people in the UA-cam community.
Flight simulation is such a great hobby, and I hope I can give back into this community by sharing stories of my journey (and my mistakes !), learning how to fly the glass cockpit C172, but most importantly..............having fun !
See you in the sky !

I think my biggest problem I've had with Pilot2ATC is not the app itself but me not completely reading the manual when I first started. You can do so many things with it. Force runways, atc chatter, the list goes on and on
@@portlandtwowheels1872 yes fully agree. I don't use the app any more. Using Beyond ATC.
Excellent. Cool idea, flying with purpose is always great. Looking forward to it!
@@GManfly69 Looking forward to having you join in the fun !!
Great work man! I'm trying to build a home cockpit too, but I'm not shure about (3) screens size and VGA cards. There is some kind of formula/ratio which I can use to know if a VGA can support for example 3 X 40" screens, let's say 1080 P or also 1440 with a decent FPS? I'm looking for RTX 4080 S (so expensive) maybe 4070 Ti Super or RX7900XT. I appreciate a lot if you can help me, thank you so much :)
Thanks for the support really appreciate it. With respects to screen size it really doesnt matter from a performance perspective, but it will matter from a visual perspective. On a pixel basis a smaller 1080P screen (say 40" or lower) will look much better than a 55" TV at the same 1080P resolution as they both have the same number of pixels just the TV are larger. Not sure of your budget and it really comes down to your budget. If you are running with 40" screens then I would probably go for at least 1440P resolution at minimum of 60Hz refresh rate. I am not familiar with AMD chips, so cant comment there, however a 4070Ti will work fine (especially if you have DLSS mode and Frame generation on in FS2020) together with a 12900K CPU (if you were to go with intel). Keep ram to DDR5 with 32GB (2x16GB) and run your programs through an M.2 SSD as this will be quicker. Hope this helps.
@@CessSim thank you for your answer.
@@AlessandroAtzori-vv2je welcome mate.
@@CessSim about CPU I was thinking i5 or i7 maybe Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but someone told me that after 10 years AMD CPU need to be replaced , instead Intel are more reliable through the time. Do you think the same? Thanks😊
@@AlessandroAtzori-vv2je I really cant comment on that mate. I have only ever only Intel CPU's........never had an AMD.

@@CessSim oh surprises.. now I'm even more excited - can't wait
Absolutely brilliant mate.. Im in the middle of building the standby instruments from Trevor as well.. I really struggled with the side views and hoping MS 2024 goes back to undocking outside views so I can have physical windows again.Looks like you have cracked it on this version.. Keep up the great videos mate 😊😊
cheers buddy. Greatly appreciate the feedback. Dont hesitate to yell out if you have any further questions. Happy to help out where I can.
You've done a really good job! Please can you tell me what kind of VGA and CPU have installed in your pc? Did you use 3 x 55" 1080p tv as screens? You use tv because there aren't pure monitors of that size? Thank you so much!
Please check out my later videos which have full specs in the description. This is quite old now and many things upgraded including TVs which are now 4K QLED....
@@CessSim thank you, I will check! I know about 4K ...they require a pricey VGA . I'm looking for an affordable setup to "flying at home"...but for now I saw things that cost like a plane...I mean a real plane:)
🤞that I remember to join along with your live streams and don't get sidetracked by others...

Thakns buddy. I reckon going to be a lot of fun.......
You really surpassed yourself this time. Surely you can't get sillier than this
I am thinking although this one was certainly up there !!
you need to be institutionalized....
Jessica Cox is a real life pilot in the US who flies only with her feet. She has no arms.
Now this is funny!!!! LOL
thought you might like it !!
I was flying my BD-5J in X-Plane one time and lost ailerons due to a random failure. I managed to land it using only rudder control!
nice to know! thanks for the gem!
welcome buddy........!
Excellent information!
cheers buddy........
Thanks for the informative tutorial mate 👍
cheers mate.
Very good tutorial. Thanks
thanks buddy. Appreciated.
I would love to have the space to do that. My flight sim, and my driving sim and my workplace are all on the same desk. Haha. How is the heat in there? I find my room gets extremely hot very quickly when the flight sim is running.
Beauty of air conditioning......be stuffed without it !!
@@CessSim Ah. Yeah, I guess in Oz that's standard. In the UK relatively few people have that at home. We have it in our conservatory, as that's the hottest room in the house in summer. But elsewhere we don't. I am planning to add some PC fans to my ceiling above the PCs to vent the heat to the loft space.
@@flightsimdeskuk yeh pretty standard here. Can get quite warm on those 40 deg Celsius Summer days !!
Landing? I counted 3 landings. Lol. Certainly if that was a real plane you would have sh!t some bricks.
most definately !
Maybe less stuttery, but I haven't noticed any average framerate improvement. I still don't understand how you are able to run triple 4k with it. I certainly can't and my hardware isn't much lower spec than yours. I have Ryzen 5800X3D and RTX 3080 Ti
I am going to revisit the benchmarking exercise I did a while back and compare it to now. Having just updated XP to v 12.1.1 I am certain the performance is better than what I had before. Will do a video on my 2nd round tests. Stay tuned....
But is it a better graphical experience than MSFS? Flight model has always been considered better, but having delved into the control sensitivities in MSFS, I am getting a much more realistic flying experience in MSFS now. Look forward to your final assessment 👍
Sorry to butt in ,but whilst your GPU will give similar performance your CPU benchmark tests are nowhere near this one, even with 3d cache (in my opinion). Maybe look at your graphics settings. You can have 4k with low settings, modest settings, high setting etc, but they are all 4k. Hope this helps
@brexpatfarang3780 Michael brown posted a video entitled "X-Plane 12 Benchmarks - Large list" in the description of that is a link to a spreadsheet. In that he shows that the 5800X3D is of similar performance to a 12700K.
@brexpatfarang3780 For sure the graphics in MSFS are better. Nobody is questioning that. I have MSFS also and I find that I can do triple screen with that. It is better optimised than XP12
Couldn't have done better myself.
Something tells me you could have done it a lot better than me mate !!
I'm living a nightmare trying to figure out how on earth my Seitek and Velocity flight controls suddenly began operating "COUPLED" as in rudder to ailerons. I believe it had something to do with the latest xplane 12 update. All flight controls worked beautifully before with the right response curves. Can someone help me find what I need to do to uncoupled the rudder and ailerons? Thanks so much.
HI mate. That sounds like a first to me. Have you tried completely disconnecting the unit from the USB side, restarting XP without it plugged in and then attaching it again, perhaps in a different USB port?
@@CessSim Thank you Q8 - I have tried that and still have the problem. I think now I wwill delete ALL x-Plane and reload the Disc version X-Plane 11 and see if it comes back. Thanks again for the suggestion.
@@golson33 No problems. Would you not want to re-load XP12 first given that is the sim you are actively using?
Can you maybe do a video on your setup? Its amazing!
@@danielouw2095 Hi. Check out my recent video which should help. Thanks for watching.

@@mikechristison7843 appreciate the complement but I have a fair way to go to get to their level !! Thanks for watching......
This looks amazing, I have followed for a while now and you always produce good, informative videos. One observation if I may....I notice you are using an old office swivel chair minus wheels as the pilots seat...Why don't you pick up an old car seat from a scrapper and mount it on a frame. One where the back/forward/up/down and lumbar support adjuster all still work, much more realistic...Push it back to get out, climb in and adjust, just like real life.
@@davenicoll43 Thanks for the kind words. The real seat was part of an early concept but to be honest doesn't work when getting out from rear. I have also post this video installed another type of side table for the streamdeck, ipad for chat, and cup of coffee !! If I had side exits I would have bought proper seats. Thanks for tuning in.
YOU CAN UPLOAD THE FILES IN FUSION 360? PLEASE
Apologies but I am not sharing the Fusion360 file at this stage. The model is quite detailed. I do have some basic layout drawings covering various aspects if that helps get you started. Feel free to reach out via my contact details in the about section.

Looks great. I love your sim. It all turned out great. Have you put in all your PC upgrades yet?
@@flightsimdeskuk Thanks buddy. I do have a 14900K to put in but that requires new motherboard. To be honest is performing pretty well with 12900K and 3090Ti. Did put some more RAM in but more for multitasking. Will leave as is for time being....
Im curious why you do all this manually? I use Streamdeck to open a similar amount of programs (more actually) , and with one button , they open in order (including pauses if necessary) and then apps resize, move to different monitors etc, all automatically... Im not using an actual sim, but open a lot of stuff for VR... well worth investing in a Streamdeck just for this..its really easy to set up.. :-)

@@CessSim yeah I’d like to know why that happens, I was logged into vpilot as a C172. Although I am using a mod that customizes the aircraft a bit. Do you use the FSLTL base models VMR file?
@@peterrowney5180 ahh no. That might explain it. I am using FSLTL but I havent got that setup in VPilot. Can you perhaps send me a screen shot via email of your aircraft library setting in VPilot? Might help for next time. Actually this recording gave me an idea for those times when I am not flying with you guys. Was quite fun recording you guys flying in !!
I was one of the obs (observers) on vatsim at Canberra and was listening on that particular aircraft pzz was slightly doing things to deliberately to get attention.
We had to call supervisor on one of the aircraft (none of the VFR regulars). The tower was going insane.
I think I was listening to some of that and detected a little frustration coming from the tower. Sounds like an aircraft wasnt playing nice !
