  • Dragon Fruit is very easy to propagate from cuttings. You do not need root growth hormone, take a cutting of the entire section, let the section dry for 3 days and then plant in potting soil. Water and let the soil dry out a bit before watering again. You can see new growth on your newly planted dragon fruit cutting in 2 months!

    You forgot to mention they are a climbing cactus. You need to stake them. If you don't they will lay over. They will develop little hairs looking for something to hold on to. Once they are staked they will grow like weeds!!

    I like your videos. Like @Teresa Delgado was saying you can take cuttings from the center sections of the plant and they can be just as successful, you just need to let them heal for a few days after you cut them, then plant them. You can also cut the bottom part into a point so that not as much of the fleshy part of the DF is in contact with the soil where it would be more susceptible to rot.

    The reason the middle sections got rotten is because you planted them without letting them dry (Callus) first before planting. But they do grow.

      You don't have to add fertilizer, but I did and then actually saw it start to grow fast. Before, I had it planted and it grew roots for a year, but not much growth of the cactus itself. I thought it died. After a year I put fertilizer sticks in the soil and it started growing.

    I do have different types of dragon fruits. When you cut it like you did the long piece in 3 sections you need to let the cutting part dry for at least 1 to 2 weeks. After that you can plant them and they will grow.

    The middle sections may not have made it because you didn't allow them to callous. So you dried the cutting but then cut into it so that the fresh cut was exposed to dirt. Am I wrong?

    My dragon fruit tree doesn’t produce fruits…. Why?

    • @CL4K.
      @CL4K. Рік тому

      There's no guarantee they will. The kind you got might not be self-pollinating, meaning you'd have to pollinate them by hand when they blossom.
      If there aren't any flowers, maybe you just got a bad plant.

    • @meikuanchoo1607
      @meikuanchoo1607 Рік тому +1

      @@CL4K. Thanks... mine never bloom. And my fig trees also small after 2 years +. I grow it from cuttings. Do you know why? could it be not enough sun lights? Thanks again.

    • @CL4K.
      @CL4K. Рік тому

      @@meikuanchoo1607 that's possible. I'm not really an expert, but the pots might be too small? I'm not really sure, and I really don't know much about figs.

    You're sharing wrong information. It doesn't have to be the top of the dragon fruit plant for it to grow. You simply have to let the middle dry first
