    Watch Marc diagnose and rectify an ESP light on a 2007 Mazda 3.
    ESP stands for Electronic Stability Program and its another name for your "Traction Control". It monitors and adjusts the brake pressure fed to each wheel according to it's need. ESP works in tandem with your ABS system and a fault with one causes a fault with the other. ESP basically alters the brake pressure for each wheel to keep your car as stable as possible when on difficult terrain or in situations where you're braking at speed.
    in this case, we have a stored DTC for a pressure transducer (sensor) which monitors the pressure within the ABS pump which is applied to your brakes. the system needs to monitor how much pressure is in the system at any one time so that it can alter the pressures to each wheel correctly and as quickly as possible.
    Due to the current situation with COVID-19 our local MAZDA dealership is closed, meaning in order to keep this customer on the road, we have had to use a pre-loved part.
    2nd hand parts can be a nightmare sometimes, it could be a variant meant for a slightly different model, although it might fit, it may not be the correct one. Or if the fault you're fixing is a common problem like this one, who is to say without fitting that this one doesn't suffer from the same fault.
    Although this second hand part comes pre programmed, we recommend carrying out your own recalibration process to ensure correct readings later on.
    Many get by with the "plug and play" mentality but for peace of mind you can re calibrate your unit and know its right.
    We hope this helps.

    This video was awesome..
    FYI - you can also take off the windscreen wipers & access a cross beam which you can unbolt.. This makes undoing the brake lines sooo much easier & quicker.. I think it definitely out weighs trying to squeeze the tools in & slowly turning 1/10 each time..
    You get that cross beam off & it’s full access to the ABS unit.

    Hi mate thanks for the vid.
    We have the BK generation Mazda 3 touring model. We have no esp light comes on but the left-back brake can't be worked, we assumed for the corroded disk and we looked to the pomp and the hose that goes to the back couldn't be bled when we loosen the bolts. We're going to change the pump, not the control unit, and bleed the system.
    I think we won't reprogram the control unit because of not changing the module am I right?

    Thanks for the video. This is helping me on a Mazda 3 with a ABS pump issue. Customer states of sinking pedal while stopped in traffic. Isolated the abs pump and replaced it. However we're having abs module code, but the vehicle drives fine and stops like it should

      Have you programmed the new unit in with a diagnostic machine? It might also require a re calibration bit this is sometimes part of the programming process.

    Excellent vid. Nice to see you have the skills and tools to do a proper readout, diagnostic and fix. I'm having issues on my Mazda 3 ABS. Either pump or stearing sensor. Local garage to me don't have the tech to do this. I could remove the pump get it fixed but never get it back in and programmed again. As soon as lockdowns over and I can come visit my parents in Swansea I'll be booking my Mazda in with you guys!

    I have a 2007 Mazda 3, this just started happening but the other night I saw my abs sign and also the sign stability sign you mentioned earlier in the video, next I parked my car and once I tried to start it up they car didn’t want to come on as if the battery was dead, I tried to turn it on the next morning and it came on although several hours later both signs came on once again. Would you know what can be the issue or what steps to take it something is really wrong with it?

    I have a 2011 Mazda 3 think it’s my abs module that’s bad. If I were to get a used abs module online and match the numbers on the old one to the new used part. Would I still need to get the computer to reprogram it?

    My ABS, Traction & Handbrake light are all on and staying on while driving my 2013 Mazda 3. Mechanic reset the ABS codes and got a 008248 ABS voltage message. Charged me $88 to do just that and I've still got the problem. Any ideas ?

    Same issue with my 2005. They replaced the master cylinder thinking that was the issue but I'm fairly certain it's the abs module. New, my shop quoted $1035 for the oem part alone. I found places that rebuild them for $250, do you think that would be better than buying an eBay used one?

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому +1

      If you can send the unit away for repair, I think that is your best option. I wouldn't normally recommend buying parts of ebay. We fitted this second hand unit for a customer only because everywhere was closed due to covid.

    Nice video, My Mazda 3 2.0L 2010 with a ABS code and need to replace the ABS pump and CM, should i need to bleed all the break fluid before replace it.

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому

      Worth bleeding the system and see if you can do a re calibration before committing to replace the pump. It's always worth a try but often it is an internal fault with the pumps.

    • @ringwg6722
      @ringwg6722 3 роки тому

      @@MTMMotorServices you mean that bleeding brake fluid is optional? Because i just got a DTC C0021 with a U0415, i will change the DSC HU/CM.

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому

      @@ringwg6722 no, you will always have to bleed the fluid. I meant that if you were in two minds about replacing the complete unit, that it is worth bleeding and making sure there is no air in the system first to make sure you aren't getting false readings from the abs unit.
      Any time you work on the brake system and there is the possibility of air entering the system, it needs to be bled.

    I noticed leak marks beneath the ABS pump, does it need replacement or can it be repaired? For '08 mazda3 hatch AT 1.6

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому

      i would try to determine where the leak was coming from first. it could be one of the brake lines have failed rather than the unit.
      if it is the unit that failed, sometimes you can send away to a specialist for repair but often you can get a reconditioned unit for a reasonable price. sorry for the delay in getting back to you. let me know if you managed to solve your issue.

    For a 2010 Mazda 3, do I need to code the VIN #? Mine still shows the DSC light ON but the ABS and the brake light are off. Drives perfect all 4x tires sensors are reading. Thanks

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому

      when fitting new units, always check if they require programming. when you program, the VIN info should carry over. i would also check to see if you can carry out any sort of learning/set up procedure or re calibration. are you getting any new fault codes? sorry for the delay in getting back to you. let me know if you managed to solve the issue.

      The ABS light can come on for a number of different reasons. i would advise you get a garage to take a look and diagnose the issue before it becomes a constant fault.

    How is the calibration done?

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому

      Once properly bled Using a diagnostic machine there should be a option for re calibration or re learning of values depending on what machine you use. This varies slightly depending on what software you're running.
      However, if you fit a brand new unit and it requires a software update, it may re calibrate as part of the update.

  • @gustavpettersson3856
    @gustavpettersson3856 3 роки тому +1

    Do you need to reprogram the unit or is it "plug and play"?

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 роки тому +2

      There is calibration process that you go through which you should be able to do with most diagnostic machines. The unit in the video was a second hand unit. If you use a brand new unit, you may have to carry out a software update.
