Rewind as much as you want! The whole point is to get your perspective and opinion. People need to hear things multiple times to really separate and understand them. If viewers want to hear the song uninterrupted then they can click the link that you provided. If they don't like it then they aren't gonna be repeat viewers or subscribers anyways, so let their cries fall on deaf ears.

Came to say the same thing, couldn't agree more! Especially from a reactor that is providing more technical analysis of a piece of music, in a piece like this it's impossible to catch every nuance as it flies by the first time.

When I first discovered these guys (I think it was Charismatic Voice reaction to this song) I was instantly blown away. Then I heard this album was a concept album telling an epic story of The Immortal and that the follow up album that continued the story was just about to release so I bought both on vinyl and avoiding listening to any more songs from those albums until I could sit down with a glass of nice rum in one hand and the lyrics sheet in the other and listening to both albums back to back following along with the story. Best decision I've made in a long time 😁👍

I suppose you have already procured, Decades ago, Rick Wakeman's album JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH , Where the London symphonic orchestra accompanied him in his production. But since it was narrated as well between musical pieces, And it's an old old story, Alyrics she is not even necessary. Just close your eyes and imagine the Visuals.

When I ordered some patches from them before they got signed they sent me a bunch of stickers for free and Brittany wrote me a note thanking me for supporting the band and even emailed me. When I got the patch sewn on I sent her the pic and a thank you and she responded saying she thought it was super awesome having her bands patch up there with all the other ones I had. The members of UtA are all very great in both the technicalities of playing their instruments and playing very "musically" and creative as well. Throw in the amazing vocals and storytelling by Brittney, and you've got a combination that's hard to beat. The latest two UtA albums, Apex and Abyss, tell an epic story over the course of the two albums. Awakening is the first track from Apex and thus just the beginning of two great albums.
There are so many great tracks from those two albums and their earlier ones. If you dive into the Unleash the Archers rabbit hole, you won't regret it. I'd suggest checking out Tonight We Ride or Cleanse the Bloodlines next.

Just a heads up, their 2 latest albums Apex(2017) and Abyss(2020) are concepts connected by one single storyline (20 chapters, 10 per album) about an Immortal being awakened(chapter 1 Awakening) by an evil woman The Matriarch(chapter 3) By a covenant of birth, the Immortal must do the bidding of whomever awakens him. On the first album, The Matriarch awakens him from a 1000 year sleep in his mountain hollow, and orders the Immortal to find her 4 sons, so she can kill them in a blood ritual so she can gain immortality for herself(chapter 4) and covers the Immortal's encounter with each son(chapters 5-8). Then the Immortal returns back to his mountain to sleep again(chapter 10).
On the second album, The Immortal finds himself awoken on spaceship, confused as to why he's there. He ends up teaming up with the grandson of The Matriarch, and heads into battle against The Matriarch.
Both albums are amazing, and the album Abyss won the Juno's (Canadian music awards) for the best 2020 Hard Rock/Metal album of the year. The first two indie albums and first studio album are awesome as well, but they really picked up the production and quality on their last two albums.
    Subbed from Toronto 🤘🇨🇦

As others have probably said, this is the opening track to their 2017 album 'Apex'. Easily the best power metal album of that year, IMO. Perhaps in all of the metal genres combined? Maybe that's an argument for another day, lol.
They followed it up with 'Abyss' in 2020, and the two double albums together form a 4 LP metal music epic fantasy adventure.
Very bold of such a young band to record a double concept album, but then to follow it up with a part 2. But also absolutely nail both albums from front to back. Truly unique.
Both were recorded by Jacob Hansen in the Netherlands and they sound *fantastic*.

Love this song and this band, they are all pretty much anthems like that (power metal and all). Really enjoyed your breakdowns and reactions to this one! Especially hearing about the picking strategy on the bass, not something I would've noticed.
Video question: I have a two year old and I'm about to give birth again, so live shows are pretty much out for awhile (especially with COVID, but hopefully we can at least get the two year old vaccinated soon!). Brandi Carlile seems to be coming to Red Rocks about once a year (mountainous outdoor amphitheater near Denver, it's the most amazing venue ever), so if she's still doing that in a few years, that may be one of my first live shows to get back into it. Also if Jinjer or Nightwish is touring North America again, would love to catch them (I had tickets for Jinjer in 2020, which obviously got cancelled with the pandemic). Other artists at the top of my list would be Ayla Nereo, Wardruna, AURORA, Heilung, and Lana Del Rey. (I have eclectic tastes lol)

@DrumRoll Tony Reacts: If you want a song or two to make you want to drive fast, how about a little bit of Sabaton? Hailing from Sweden, Sabaton sings about military history. They're the history teacher you didn't know you needed! Here are my Top 5 recommendations:
    1) Primo Victoria. About D-Day, which took place on 6 June 1944.
    2) Defense of Moscow. This took place over a period of months during Operation Barbarossa in 1941, and is about how the Russian Army stopped the advance of Army Group Center of the Wehrmacht, Panzer divisions, and Luftwaffe from reaching Moscow. The Russian Army stopped the German Army 15 miles (24.14 km) from Moscow.
    3) Night Witches, Animated Story Video feat. YarnHub. This song is about the Russian Air Force's 588th Night Bombing Regiment, an all-woman bomber unit, that fought on the Eastern Front in World War II.
    4) 40:1. This song is about the Polish Army, and how it stopped the German advance during the initial blitzkrieg during the first 10 days of World War II in September, 1939.
    5) Ghost Division. This song is about the 7th Panzer Division, who was led by Erwin Rommel, a colonel at the time of the blitzkrieg into the Low Countries in 1940 (the Low Countries are the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Luxembourg). Rommel would later fight in North Africa and earn the nickname of "The Desert Fox," when he was the general in charge of the Afrika Korps. in North Africa.
It should be said that Sabaton does not take sides in the history they tell, as they are merely telling stories about the men who fought in the wars of the past.
Give 'em a chance -- I know you won't regret it!

Really excellent reaction, sir. So now, I know it's a cliche move, but it's something I really enjoy, and with your more structured, somewhat symphonic musical background, it is an absolutely " like a glove " fit for you to check out some of Arjen Lucassen's musical projects. He is a prog composer/musician that writes these incredible scores/symphonies/operas ( you can decide on their title yourself when you listen ) and then assembles top shelf players and vocalists to record the material. Ayreon is his more established project and is just phenomenal, with concept albums, ten or fifteen minute long tracks, multiple time signatures, everything one loves in progressive rock music. To hear more of Brittany Slays ( Hayes ) from U.T.A., check out the latest effort from his other major project, Star One. I promise you will not regret your time. Both bands represent absolute top shelf engineering and production and are honestly just a joy to listen to and watch. Hope you will give Arjen and his work a chance...thanks for listening.

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
    AWAKENING (2017)
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
    Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never

There is a bass playthrough of their song Cleanse the Bloodlines. That really shows Niko's skills on the bass. Unfortunately he left the band a few years ago.

I agree with the comments to check out the full Apex and Abyss albums. The storyline is intriguing and heightens the music, in my humble opinion.
Especially my personal favorite track..."Cleanse The Bloodlines"

Funny you mention jazz with the bass player, as I'm pretty sure he was/is now a jazz bassist after leaving the band. Can't remember my source, but if anyone remembers...

If anything this song is more technical then much of their other material, it is all just as metal, but this band is more creative and fluid then 99% of others. One of the best ever.

They tell the story of the Immortal being awakened by the Matriarch and their future epic clash! Please react to more UtA. You can rewind as much as you want! Have at it! If you want to learn the techniques, you probably already have the tools. I see a classical guitar behind you. Most of his picking is transitioning the classical finger work to the bass. Much of classical music on your lower strings translates pretty much directly to playing bass.
