I've seen him live twice at the house of blues. He didn't seem as into it as he does here with tons of people in the audience. Not mad tho. Shit was life changing making eye contact with jens while moshing and screaming the lyrics in sync. No homo lol

They blend together. The guitars and the bass. Being in the same octave actually. I'd even go as far as saying you really hear more the bass than the guitars. That low end density especially. As someone who's played guitar in a band, with time I started really noticing how *unimportant* are guitars lol (fellow guitar players, don't kill me!). I used to think that everything else is a filler but in reality... it's the guitar that's the filler. Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. In order to cut, the guitar itself must sound kinda weak and sometimes even shrill, but hey, what sounds good in your bedroom has almost a 100% chance of sucking in a live/band setting.
With the replacent member, his headless fanned frets guitar, the bassist new hairdo and Marten's new guitar it meshuggah almost looks like a new band, more modern. I like it, still kicks ass
I think Jens sounds great, especially since the last LP. I think he's exploring a slightly lower register. Some how it's more intense, deeper. It's perfect for Meshuggah.
He can't do the "shouting" vocal technique that used to be able to do a few years back. He said that it damaged his voice so he has to do this lower register scream. But I agree, it sounds pretty good.
Voice is great - it's his spelling here that sounds very unusual. But then it seems it was the last song in the set so he must have been running on fumes

Meshuggah played in New Delhi, India in 2010.They started the gig with Rational Gaze and the crowd went wild. One of the best live performances I ever witnessed . Thank you Meshuggah !!
Really? I think it sounds hoarse. He has trouble hitting the higher and lower. On top of that his scream fades in parts where its supposed to be a full scream. I know it's a live performance and he's probably out of breath, but I can still hear lots of air coming out but it's just not vibrating his vocal cords. I might be wrong. But Don't get me wrong I'm a die-hard meshuggah fan. I have all of their albums on CD.
I bought Carnival is forever in Poland during a trip two years ago and it's so damn insane, plus I think they didn't overdub the guitars, so it's one track of everything and it still sounds fucking massive.

For context (I was there), it was one of the hottest days in the UK and this was just past midday. Many red lobster people around, Jens came on, and they said they've been driving for countless hours and it's too fucking hot. I think they cut bleed from this set due to the heat - they couldn't play it.
Holy crap....! I did see Meshuggah live back in the really early 90´s in Sweden, Skellefteå. Think it was like 1991....performing in a small school eatery. Man, that was a blast! They played in conjunction with Entombed.
Per Nilsson is an absolute freak. While he's technically adapt in so many different modes and scales the guy can actually write a decent song. Usually it's only one not the other.
I was right at the front for this as my mate wanted a good spot for alexisonfire who were on after this and thrice I think. I'm glad I was as they were one of the bands of the weekend and were so loud they blew my face off!
