People usually talk about Tomas Haake and the rest of the band, but we need to give Jens Kidman some love, that man has been consistently screaming for the past 30 years without missing a single word. He really is an outstanding metal vocalist.
@@xenophagia Makes sense. I got the Neural DSP Nameless guitar plugin recently and was pretty surprised to see some presets by Jens. I was like...isn't that the *vocalist* of Meshuggah? And they were actually some of the most aggressive, spanky djent tones in the plugin...definitely some of my favourites. Most presets have either a descriptive name or some kind of jokey name but Jens' were all just 'Riff 1' and 'Riff 2' etc.. no indication of what they sounded like or would be used for. If he's writing a good amount of riffs for the band I guess those are the tones he uses!

Meshuggah is coming to Brazil for the first time in exactly one month. I'm taking an 8 hour bus ride to see these guys. They've been around for so long, I thought they'd never come. I'm just so happy that I wanted to share all this nonsense. I found out about this gig on the day I turned 30, this is my best birthday gift ever 🎉 edit: ok, so it seems they've been here before in 2013 and 2016. I didn't know that, there's no need to be offensive or say I'm lying lol. peace out 🙏

It is like comparing an apple with the moon... sure... both are round and make music but that is where it ends. I respect both Deep Purple and Pink Floyd for their music and how they helped influence bands like Meshuggah to then take things further. But to compare them is insanity.
Meshuggah, the monstrous monolith of their own makeshift metal. This performance and their music in general is why they're their own. Utterly timeless and sublime.
Me and a friend drove 400 km to the festival just for this concert. Arrived right before and left directly after and drove the 400 km back. It was sooo worth it. "We are only here to fuck with your brain", Jens said. Mission accomplished!
This video sounds great, but I was there and the sound directly in front of the stage was absolutely insane. Ultra heavy, but every instrument was very clear in the mix.

I’ve been listening to Meshuggah for only about 4 years now. I’m currently 24. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to see them live twice in small, intimate indoor venues and of the 30+ concerts I’ve been to of all kinds of musical genres, they are the absolute best live performances I’ve ever experienced by far.
Talk about having your act together: sound, chops, the entire thing swings from start to finish. The sound they achieve in concert is better than most records being produced today with all the micro-editing crap. Real music by real musicians. What a delight!
Lightech is 100% their sixth member. Meshuggah is amazing but this production lifts the whole set another level. I worked with them on a few gigs in north Sweden . It’s a production train. Amazing

God He Sees In Mirrors is absolutely one of my favorite recent Meshuggah songs. Insane they can even play it live, and now we have this amazing high quality recording. Forever thankful for this band.
When was that? I also saw them in Bristol, for the first time. Was a long time ago though...around 2007 or so. Not seem them since so really need to get to a Meshuggah show soon. Nothing is my favourite album by far and the latest album isn't really my kinda vibe although I massively appreciate the skill behind it. But I know their shows aren't just about the songs they play but the whole experience...getting a massive wall of sound, thundering bass drums, an impressive light show and more. So I'm definitely up for seeing them soon even if they focus on the latest album more.

Thank you ARTE for uploading this! On another note, as amazing as this concert is, watching it and listening to it on youtube is something like 50% of the experience you would have if you attended in person. I hope every fan gets to watch them live at least once in their lifetime.
I've seen more bands live in my time as a fan and a performer over the last 25 years than I've got hairs on my head, I've seen everything from huge pop and R&B shows, down to jazz in holes in the corner of nowhere, right over to seeing Sunn O))) in a fucking cave, and of all the bands, no one, not a single one comes close to the live shows Meshuggah put on. CD perfect every time, most unfuckwithable light show on offer, and musical mastery that can only be found in this band. An utterly astonishing contribution to music.
Absolutely mind-blowing show and performance!! Speechless... Hypnotic, robotic, magnetic, out of this planet....saw them live last year in Romania and this year in Milan, the latter with the exact setlist from Summer Breeze. Thank you, Meshuggah!

I have the painful pleasure of having heard this band twice, once at a tiny venue in San Francisco. No question. One of the top three shows of my nearly seventy years.
I saw Meshuggah last year in Krakow and my neck suffered a lot, but this is the kind of suffering you want to have every day. I hope they will play until the end of the world and one day more. The best band in the whole fucking world.

He composed some songs. 'Behind the sun' from Koloss album was written by him and it's literally the best song of the album.
