I find it so interesting how some people really suit the modern look, and others (like myself) look far better in a classic or vintage look. It certainly takes a different skill set to do modern makeup! I see so many clothing trends from the early 2000s resurfacing too, which horrify this old millennial 😂
I feel like there is a resurgence of early 2000s and the 60s and 70s. I don't mind the early 2000s... I'm pretty sure that is still most of my wardrobe anyways (also a Millennial), lol. Each person should wear what makes them comfortable and what they feel looks good on them.
haha right? i feel like 2000s stuff makes me physically cringe, it's still too soon for us - those super tight low rise bootcut jeans make me shudder 😂🤢
@@emmaleebuzzard1023 me too! I saw high waisted thick ribbed slinky bell bottoms in a matching set at wall mart. Chop about 12 inches off of that high rise and we’ve got 6 th grade year!
American here. Most adults in their 30s and up don’t really try to copy the trends over here. It took us 20 years to grow our eyebrows back because we when we young pencil thin brows were popular 😂. I loved your video and can say with absolute confidence that you did 100% better than I could have done!!
I never was into makeup or hair trends, but was so glad to completely disregard them when I started dressing vintage! Your best look is what you feel comfortable in!
That is true, however it was not common or available for women until around the 1960s and even then i believe it was only common in the late 1960s or mid 1960s.
The funniest thing about this was you calling the brows “sharp” so many times- when the trend is that they’re actually “bushy” and “fluffy” and the opposite of the very sharp defined brows that have been trendy the prior several years 😂 this is absolute concrete proof to me that you are a real time traveler, it sounded like someone actually from the mid 20th century analyzing current makeup 😭🥰 You’re so gorgeous in anything, and the commentary was so on point, especially about the “natural” look being far from it
It depends on the country I guess, but those eyebrows were never trendy here 😂 The lips, yes, but people still had stylized brows if a little more natural looking.
I love this because it 1. gives such good perspective to being caught up in what's "trendy" and 2. it feels like this would be an authentic reaction if we brought someone from the 1950 to today, lol. love your content so much!
You look absolutely lovely in your vintage look and I believe that it suits you wonderfully. Modern style is rather startling on you. Either way you're beautiful! And I'm sure that you feel most beautiful when you recognize yourself in the mirror when you're at your most comfortable
You're beautiful no matter what you decide to do with your makeup, I think you demonstrated beautifully how much easier it is to have the vintage look. ♥️🌹
You look gorgeous no matter which decade you choose to wear Sage ♥but I definitely prefer the 1950's look for you. You have the right bone structure and everything for it!!!
This was so fun! I have to say it's really refreshing to see a young woman who doesn't feel the need to be 'extra'. I hope you always feel that way. ❤️
Would love to have seen James's reaction 😆. Good to see that not everyone knows what they are doing with makeup. I never wear makeup unless it's for a special occasion, and I go minimum with it. I prefer to focus on skin care instead.
I relate 100% with the whe not understanding modern trends.😆 I am very happy with just sticking to the wonderful 50s styles❤ I love how natural and feminine everything is.
Regardless of your style, you’re a beautiful woman but the vintage look, truly embodies you. You’re classic and natural and definitely don’t need any of this. I always enjoy your videos (the duck lips at the end at me rolling, lol) ❤
True Story: I have never ever managed to put on a pair of false lashes (I was trying for wedding look). I don't go out of my way to dress vintage or look vintage, but I'm not overly into modern either. I just wear whatever clothing or make up appeals to me. I ❤ you and your channel!
I love this! So funny. I really appreciate that you often make do with what you have (without going out and spending a ton of money to buy products--so aloe vera and eyeliner brush) and still manage to have fun and create lovely videos and looks. What stood out for me was your genuine smile in the vintage look versus...hilarious but bewildered pouts in the modern look. I'm also not into the modern look in makeup or home decor. It's great if people are, but it's comforting to see others who are baffled by these things. We have a bungalow with separate rooms, wallpaper, wooden accents and vintage wooden furniture as opposed to those around us who knock all the walls down to create an open-concept space and paint everything white! Looking forward to more videos, but do take time for yourself when you need to with your busy schedule. Love from Canada!
This was so fun to watch! I will say most of these trends are from 5-10 years ago 😅 the new “thing” (I think - it’s hard to keep up!) is a clean girl look - more minimal, which I think you would have liked better! Either way - great video and glad you’re back! I’ve been binging hour videos since December - love your cozy content! ❤❤❤
Hi! This might seem odd but seeing your struggles with modern makeup trends made me feel a lot better about my inability to do modern makeup 😂😂 I mean that as a compliment I promise! Because of your influence I've been experimenting with vintage style makeup and I love its focus on simplicity and accentuating natural parts of your face! And for the record, I think your modern makeup looked amazing!!
Sage confusing lip filler with botox made me smile. Don't ever change 😆I liked your modern look before the overlined lips, it was very 60s to me but I don't know how anyone has time to put on false lashes. I've tried and not only does it take forever but the glue smells and it just never looks right on my eyes. I would have loved to see you try contour as well as eyebrow wax for the new soap brow look.
As someone who doesn't even own make up, I feel like this is how I would be trying to put it on. 😂 This was very entertaining to watch but you definitely wear your classic vintage look beautifully :)
I totally get what you are saying. I grew up in the 1980s and I did 50s looks. I was feeling the same as you do now back then. You look gorgeous in your 40s/50s looks. xx
Honestly, the modern hairstyle really suited you and showed off your pretty face so well! That combined with your normal makeup would be so stunning in my opinion but everyone looks best dressing however they are most comfortable. I don't dress or do my hair/makeup in a vintage style but I don't care about trends either, I think most people don't, it's only the internet or with young people that it's important.
I prefer the vintage look haha!😅 I have been dressing vintage, myself, for the last 7-ish months. I love it. I tried to be trendy for a while, but it was impossible to keep up with everything. Now I strive to look like Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn, and Debbie Reynolds, and I'm happy that way. Here's the thing that really got me: I could feel cool when I was dressing modern, but I never felt pretty. Now that I've been dressing vintage (40s/50s), I feel pretty and classy...that's something that never used to happen.
I like some popular trends like highlighter, but you can definitely look natural with modern makeup. But I agree about the red lip. A beautiful red lip is a classic.
I love this video! It’s definitely interesting on how many products for the modern look that you mentioned you don’t have! It kinda made me think on how many modern trends ‘require’ certain products. Thank you for the fun video!
I have followed you for a while now after searching a vintage hairstyle tutorial. I think you are absolutely beautiful and honestly, you pull off the modern look too! The vintage style obviously makes you more comfortable though and your confidence makes that style even more beautiful on you! You are just beautiful!
Honestly, a valiant attempt 😂 I think what would be fun would be a video where you go to like sephora (or like a shop that sells makeup) and get a professional modern-makeup makeover
I love your vintage style! I don't keep up with the current styles and fashions either! I dress more boho style.....which is kind of vintage as well! I feel we all should dress in the way that is comfortable not giving in to trends! Trends go out of style so fast I truly don't know how anyone can keep up with them!

Cottagecore, alternative, e-girl, minimalistic, dark academia, so many aesthetics and styles you can pick and choose from. Things that you like and that suit you. Modern fashion isn’t as constricting as people think it is. And frankly if you wear anything with confidence, you will make it a trend. I have a very alternative and quirky style and I find it fun to participate in the trends that I like. Not wearing what everyone else is wearing just because it’s popular. If I do participate in a trend it’s just because I personally like it. I also love doing make up- it’s art on my face! This was so fun to see as someone who does both vintage on modern depending on where I'm going! I do a 50's wing which is considered somewhat trendy and it looks the best on my eye shape!
I love you look. I’m a makeup artist and I love doing the natural look.I don’t keep with “trends” I love dressing in the 70’s & 80’s… keep up with your look. I totally love it & I agree why keep up with the trends. ❤
I'm also not a trend follower. I wear what I like and what suits me. Same with makeup. I've also never worn a false lash - never saw the point. I'm glad you continue to choose what suits you and your style.

Well I think you rocked the modern trendy look even if you are uncomfortable with it! But I agree - the natural look is way better!! You are gorgeous no matter what and thanks for the smiles!!
Remember a lot of us simply stick to what was in fashion in our young heyday! So late 90s/early 00s for me- so learning to wear lipstick (it was gloss only in my day 😂), shade in brows (none of that, it was bare as!), and neutrals are all new to me. I was used to winged liner in fun colours, frosted/shimmer eyeshadow, glossy lips and bronzer on everything 😂. My look these days is much simpler. Still can’t manage to look too modern but I left the frosted eyeshadow a long time ago!
This was a hilarious video, oh my lord! Happy to have you back darling! I still do modern styling some times (but I'll incorporate my red lipstick, 40s jeans, etc) and I follow some modern beauty gurus so I'm still in tune with what's current. I totally agree with the "when you're vintage you're never out of style" (because you always are, haha)!
You look pretty in the modern style, but you look absolutely stunning in the ‘50s style! It’s more delicate, natural and feminine. I can’t and don’t want to keep up with modern trends, mainly because I don’t feel it’s my style and because you’d have to buy a lot of fast fashion, which I really don’t like. I’m searching everyday for new ‘50s style inspiration clothes; would you ever consider sharing with us here on UA-cam what beautiful clothes and dress you own in your closet, please? It would be a great help for inspiration! ❤️

Girl, I'm the same way..I've never been into trends and love a more natural look..I do what I like and what looks good on me. Confidence is everything! Love your style and your channel!💕
Happy new year Sage 🎉 enjoying your video like always especially right now when I'm stuck in sick
Please get well soon!
It's damn nice to see your extremely beautiful face back on here again !
it's amazing how much longer your hair is when it isn't curled!
“Do not inhale” sniffs the whole bottle of glue 🤣
I don't put on lashes in my everyday life but I never had problems putting them on, it's very easy.
You look beautiful both ways. You have beauty that shines from the inside out
I think you look gorgeous both ways
Missed you! So glad you're back making videos! Hope you got to do everything you wanted to do while on break.
