To the people whose Christmas will not be merry and bright, nor the most wonderful time of the year, because you have lost someone you love..I hope you will find peace and love in your memories. ❤
Thank you for thinking of others. That includes me. Our dad died in January of this year. It's been very hard.
Blessings to you and yours.
To you as well Kim, I think you must be missing someone. My mom died last week.
And you as well, Kim.
both my grandmothers died one on chistmasday and one on the 23 of dec . it's been n couple of years ago but still
Thank you Kim.
Growing up in the 1950s, we lived in a house with cathedral ceilings. Therefore my dad would always get a 7ft live tree. After he put up the lights, with many of them being bubbled lights, my mom would then spend hours putting up the ornaments and tensile. It was quite a project putting up the tree and keeping it hydrated so it would not dry out. My aunt had an artificial silver tree with all blue ornaments and with a colored pinwheel at the base of the tree, which changed the color of the tree different colors as the pinwheel rotated. That was indeed a different kind of tree. It was actually pretty popular for the mid to late 1950s. My mom made handmade stockings which I still have mine 70 years later. Over the years, the only change to the stocking was Santa's beard as the original started to turn yellow.
Am I the only one who grew up in the 50s/60s with no tensile?
@@seattlegirl2077 Almost everyone I know, especially those who had real Christmas trees in the 50s and 60s were big on tensile. The only one I know of who was not into tensile was my aunt who had a silver tree with blue ornaments and a colored pinwheel
@@davidjones5547 Interesting. Growing up in Seattle, I can't remember a neighbor's tree that had it. It might be a west coast thing, but most of my neighbors had moved out west for Boeing after WWII as did my family. Although the one photo I have from my parents from the 1930s in Terre Haute Indiana did have it but I don't know it had lights. My mother born in 1912 remembered lit candles on her early Christmas trees!
I make popcorn the same way too.
Amazing, same time period, same tree wired to the ceiling, decorated same way, tinsel piece by piece and same aunt with the tacky metal tree with color wheel. Did your's also put the fiberglass "angel hair" on hers?
It’s fun watching these. You make it look so real. Like it’s really in the 50’s/60’s. I’m sitting here wishing I lived in “your time” and then I remember you are in my time. You just know how to live and do what makes you happy. It’s truly a dream!
It's so interesting to get a glimpse of a 'hot' Christmas (i.e. not a snowy, cold one). I think you've done a marvellous job of getting into the vintage festive spirit!
I usually bend the top twig down in half to help the angel to stay in place. Merry Christmas Dear Sage. Safe travels!
Concur. This works well for us, too.
I was thinking she could put it on the mantle if she wouldn't stay, but I like the other ideas better.
I was thinking the same.
This is what I had to do with my angel topper as well. I bent the top twigs down and filled out the base so she would sit upright and not move if tree got bumped.
Yes this.
I've had such a bad mental health week, and your videos take me back in time where I can get away from my issues. It is so refreshing!!! Love your videos heaps!!
Aw I’m so glad to hear you enjoy watching my videos and that it helps you relax! 💞 Sending lots of love! Xx
Mama Chey, Sage’s vids always help with any mental health stuff going on. She’s so upbeat and sweet.. Sage IS refreshing! Love her heaps! And sending you a giant hug from California (it’s freezing and rainy here!!!)
Popcorn, made on the stove in a saucepan, is the best ! I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who makes it the 'old timey' way ! Merry Christmas to you, Sage, and your lovely husband !
...yes. :) I do not like Microwave popcorn, and it was always a cool thing to make it in a Saucepan on the stove.
I make it that way too.
It really is and you can control how much salt and butter goes in it!!! It's the only way we make it, I even prefer it over the stuff they sell at movie theatres.
The only way I make it
Stovetop popcorn is my favorite way of popping.
This was lovely! Also, the look James gave you as picked you up off the thing you were standing on to hang the garland 😍😍😍
Being from Sweden, the idea of celebrating Christmas in the summer is just mind-boggling to me🤯😅
Lovely video!
It is the besttt! 🏄♂️
to me as well!! fortunately we had a little snow in Poland!
My sentiments exactly! One really needs white fluffy snow all around to get that Christmas feeling. Real cold snow, - not the artificial one, of course.
😂😂😂
I am going through cancer and your videos have been such a calming thing for me to watch as I try to rest. Thank you for your beautiful, and relaxing content. I just adore your channel.
Hang in there! Get your rest and don't do more than you can. I just went into remission but am having all kinds of issues and I think it's, in part, because I didn't let my body rest. Good luck and fight the fight! ❤️
Sending u loads of healing energy, hugs and love ❤️💗💖💞💕 May God bless you with courage, strength & healing 💝🙏
💐❤️🙏
@@heatherbecker6985 Awwe thank you so much. That is so very kind of you. I have an MRI tomorrow so hopefully they will get to the bottom of some of it. It is extremely hard for me to rest as they think I may have nerve damage as a result of the surgery as If I lay down I am in agony so this has been 2 months of chronic pain and no answers as of yet. Thank you for your kind words and I also wish you the very best as well. ♥
@@renukapatankar2185 Thank you so much for your kind comments it means so much to me. ♥
Dear Sage, thank you so much for your lovely christmas video. Merry christmas to you, your family and friends from Germany🎄☃️
Sage, you truly make such beautiful videos!
Find someone who looks at you the way Sage looks at her vintage washing basket 💖 Merry Christmas Sage, James, Mabel and Maude 🎄💖
Just a tip for the people with artificial trees, if you get garland that either matches or is close to your tree you can wrap it loosely around the inside. It makes the tree look fuller. Just something I learned with having an artificial tree (my cats are rude and think live trees are evil).
Great idea
The decorations look wonderful! It has such a warm and inviting look to it. Makes me feel so nostalgic and miss my grandmother’s home and even mine as a young child. I hope you and James have a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁❤️
These traditions are simple, warming and comforting. They remind me of a better world where families truly enjoyed being together and celebrating a great holiday. You bring me back to a time of love and togetherness, Sage. Fond memories. Thank you!
This was charming. Proof-positive that vintage Christmas celebrations are, without doubt, far more endearing than the overtly commercial Yuletide holidays that (we) now experience. I grew up in the early '70's, & whilst not exactly as one might recall from the '40's or '50's, it was close enough to be reminiscent of that era - wonderful !
I agree about the unseasonably cold weather Sage, im in New Zealand and still sleeping with my electric blanket on, crazy!
If you bend the top branch of the tree down in half and then put your angel on she will sit nice and sturdy up there. That's what I have to do with mine and it works beautifully. 🎄
The tinsel and bubble lights look absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of my grandparents tree when I was a kid. Love it 👏👍.
We had those bubbler lights when I was a child. They just scream 1950's. Loved the whole video. Wishing you both a Merry Christmas. Jon from the USA.
This Nemosdreamscapes and SageLilleyman crossover moment felt like a holiday gift just for me
For the angel topper, try bending that top piece down and make it doubled up/shorter. Maybe she’ll stay on then.
12:19 was literally the cutest thing ever! It's so sweet that you can capture moments like that on video
So jealous of that Mrs Beeton’s cookbook find! I loved this episode. So Christmasy. 🎄🤶🏻 Happy Holidays from Oklahoma USA. ❤
the inner child of me screams in awweeee … if you have a kid, she/he will be the luckiest ❤❤🥰
I love the candle bubble lights. We had some old ones that my dad liked to put on our tree in the 70’s.
This was so beautiful and James is so sweet you're a lucky girl! You have made a beautiful vintage Christmas and shared it with us as well. I have the warm cozies now. Thank you and belated Merry Christmas!
Ah I love Nemos Dreamscapes! I've been struggling to feel festive this year but your video has really helped 😃🎄
Boy, do you take me back. Those were the days and I still can't get enough of those wonderful times. As a child, we always had a tall tree with tinsel and glass ornaments on it. You are really authentic in your home style and cooking. Really a fun channel.
I bet your house smelled amazing with the oranges and spiced cider and popcorn. Such a lovely video as always Sage. We adore your sweet channel! 🎄💗
Those silver strands you put on the tree. We had them on ours in the 70's / 80's.
An enchanting and warm and lovely Christmas video Sage. Thank you for sharing this. A very Happy Christmas to you and yours! Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
Merry Christmas Sage and James! I love your Christmas decor. From snowy Utah, USA.
Hi from Ohio, Sage! God bless you, James, Maude and Mabel!!! 🐔 🐥 I'm going to say "Op shop" from now on!! Love you!
Awesome video! Thanks 4 sharing! It's lovely 2 keep precious old traditions alive! Just priceless! Blessings 2 Ur family! 🎄🥳💞✝️
I wish instead of just a thumbs up I could give you a heart! I love your videos, they make my heart at peace. Thank you.
I find it fun that you keep with north hemisphere Christmas tradition : Christmas tree, warm apple/orange juice with spice. We use drink with spice to keep warm in the cold and bring greenery in our houses because they tend to disappear in nature.
We have had to fold over the top branch of the tree and put our topper on. Or you might can add a dowel rod to your angel or that top branch with floral wire to give it support. Love your tree and decorations 😍
I remeber studding oranges with cloves and tying ribbons arond them as christmas decorations with my mum when I was little. I absolutely am so envious of your space to be able to decorate so lovely! Our tree is on the mantle...it's tiny! But I love it! I love everything unicorn so it's topped with a glittery unicorn and all the ornaments are ceramic and something to do with unicorns....oh there is a gorgeous glass jellyfish! I think you did a beautiful job of all your decorating! Your tree is beautiful and I love your front door wreath. It definitely is a festive home! I hope you both have an absolutely beatiful Christmas with all the love and wonder you deserve! Your channel has brought me so much joy in some tough times and watching your videos just reminds me that there are wonderous and beautiful things in the world. Thank you Sage and have a Wonderful Christmas🎄💝
Love your videos!!! Wishing you and everyone a very Merry Christmas and a blessed 2023.
This is the perfect Christmas video ❤. Thank you for sharing. Your tree and decorations are beautiful.
I live in R.I. U.S.A., and we always have a snowy Christmas hear. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Hey doll. Oh the tree is beautiful, and all ur decorations. Hi to the chickens. This was fun,Thank you so much sweetheart 🎁🎄🎅🏻🕯😇🦌🎄
Lovely video, as always. I found the lift off the ladder at the end to be so wholesome - for some reason that was more nostalgic than anything else, as I remember my father doing that with my mother, who was also petite. :)
I'm so glad you mentioned Nemo's dreamscapes. I've been obsessed with them lately!
Gracias por sus videos, es increíble cómo nos transportan a otra época. Feliz navidad, son un hermosa pareja. Bendiciones
This video brings all the cozy Christmas vibes😊
Perhaps you could attach a chopstick or other piece of wood to the top of your tree to give the angel support, and then the angel would cover it up. Just an idea! That hug was just the sweetest!
Bubble lights! Love them! Took my memories right back to our trees in the 1950's & 60's! I was fascinated by them. All gone now. I do have a bubble light nite-light. I leaped when I saw your copper fish mold hanging on wall! My mother had the same one & used it when company came or for the holidays. TU for taking us along. Love each moment. Hi to James!🎄🎄🎄
We love Nemo's dreamscapes too! And call the midwife! It's such a good show. This video is so lovely. ❤️
So jealous of your vintage cookbooks!!
Vintage in every way! Merry Christmas!
Lovely vlog!!! U always do fun things!!!
Your decorations look lovely. I remember using tinsel and being fascinated by bubble lights when I was a kid. I still like them. And Miracle on 34th Street is still one one my favorite Christmas movies! Merry Christmas!
I could not have left that lovely little chair in the op shop!
Thanks for a beautiful Christmas video. 🎄 Merry Christmas! 🎄
The vintage ornaments and tinsel take me back to my childhood. I need only to close my eyes to see it. My grandmother, Ruth, always decorated her tree like that. I remember how my dad used tinsel on our tree growing up bc it was his mother's tradition. Very beautiful and nostalgic holiday video. Never realized Aussies celebrated Christmas in the summertime! I'm from Illinois(USA), and I couldn't imagine it without snow. ☃️
Love this video - your angel will go on the tree! Just bend the top branch in half and it’ll hold really well. Our family have an angel like yours and it works every time! Merry Christmas both of you ❤
Oh Sage, your videos are so lovely to watch. Your christmas tree is lovely🎄.
I love the sunny weather🌞.
We have winter at our end.
Have a peaceful and blessed christmas🎄🕯everyone🕯🎄.
Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing & have a very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 😊 x
Oh. Sage, what a beautiful Christmas you created. I'm older now, children are grown and gone, and I so miss all the preparations that go into making the Christmas season special. Your tree looks just like the one I had as a child. I loved the sparkling tinsel and twinkling lights. I had tears in my eyes (good tears) watching you decorate the tree. I hope you and your loved ones have a glorious Christmas and a blessed New Year.
It's interesting seeing a wam Christmas. It's 13f (-10c) where I am right now and just a few days it was -2f (-18c). I think you did a great job making it seem festive.
Wow that’s so cold, stay warm!!!! ❤️
I watch Nemo's dreamscapes at night. It makes me too happy to sleep!
Great videos of relaxing music playing in the next room as I drift off to sleep.
I look forward to your videos. Great job decorating for Christmas, so beautiful!
Sage, U know we were waiting for this. Thank U!
I was just sruck with a memory from my childhood in the 70s. My mom would hand each of us a small handfull of tinsel and told us just throw a few strands at the tree lol
You’re so inspiring! ❤
12:20 awww that was so sweet! you two are adorable!
Sage, this video is better than anything I’ve seen in so long. The world is so icky these days and this has so much joy and is just heartwarming!
What gorgeous Christmas decorations and a lovely, old fashioned tree. You remind me so much of my mom when she was young. Merry Christmas to you both.
It's fun to watch a Christmas video in July or August 😁😍. It came up in my UA-cam feed, so I watched. Lovely decorations (as I've heard on Aussie videos -"lovely" I mean) and we used to have the single strand tinsel when I was little ❤. Brought back memories of when my mom was still here for Christmas. Cheers with a spiced chi latte 😅😋
This was so lovely! TY & Merry Christmas
Just lovely
Thank you Sage for another lovely video. Hope you have a lovely Christmas 💜
This looks wonderful. Happy Christmas!
I love how your Christmas tree came out❤
Merry Christmas, Sage and James 🎄♥️
Love the wreath… I decorated our tree with my grandma’s ornaments this year. There was a spool of silver tinsel garland that is probably older than I am (58) . I don’t ever use garland on the tree so decided to repurpose it into something I could/would use… As luck would have it, there were 2 perfectly even strands of it. I wrapped 2 wreath forms and made 2 very mid-century modern wreaths with it. One for me & one for mom (her mother’s decorations). Not my moms style, but I think it made her feel good to have it & they are both hanging on our front doors.
So Beautiful. Healthy, Happy Holidays.
Very Christmas to you Miss Sage. Lovely
I'm late to the party here because it's February, but I'm in love with the decorations on the tree. These were the decorations I grew up with and they say Christmas to me in a way that the modern matchy-mathchy themed everything Christmases do.
Hello from Canada where it will be -33c tonight , my wife and I love to watch your videos , Its great to see the green haven't seen it for 2 months LOL . Keep up the videos we really enjoy them, Have a Merry Christmas and maybe a shrimp on the Barbie !😊
i love the bubble lights so much
This is so lovely 🌹 but very odd to see such a warm weather for Christmas! In here (Prague, Czech republic), we have currently snowy weather 🌨️ and -8 degrees Celsius :) sending my best regards!
Your tree looks absolutely lovely.marry Christmas to you and your family
Oh Sage, I just have to say that I absolutely love the way this video is filmed especially the scene where you went into your garden to say good night to the chickens, i love how casual it is, for some reason it gives me a lot of nostalgia ☺️
Merry Christmas!
Your decorations are beautiful! Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas, Sage! ✨
Good evening, Sage. I love your videos. This year, when you put up the tree, bend that very top sprig down in half. I think the angel will fit perfectly. If you need to snug her up, wrap a bit of cotton batting around the sprig. Lovely tree & home. Thanks for taking us along on the thrifting. Creative Blessings!
Hi Sage. I love your Christmas tree and decorations. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and James.
A Sage Christmas video was just what I needed! Merry Christmas to you both!
You look amazing in that dress. So pretty and feminine. 😊
I love bubble lights!!!
If you don’t mind my saying so, you are just the absolute cutest! Love these videos! 😊
Aww thank you so much! 🥰
Such a beautiful, cozy, and festive video! Loved it! 🎄🌟🎁
How lovely! I will use your ideas for livening up my mantel garland for next year. One thing I have done in the past so that my really cool star, which is rather heavy, would stay on the top of my tree without drooping is I took that top stem and folded it double. That gave it more stability and it did hold up my star. That might work for your angel. Thanks again for all your beautiful videos! They always make my day!
Great job…if you bend over the tree top branch in half…the Angel base will fit
Another beautiful, feel good video from the lovely Sage and James, merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🎅🤶
Merry Christmas Sage and James xx
Your decorations are lovely! Call the Midwife is one of my favorite shows ever! Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤
You make me long for simpler times. It is all lovely Sage! Happy Holidays to you and James!
