As a former 5 guys employee. We spent hours preparing all the good fresh food in the morning, to create the best tasting burgers and fries. Luckily I got one free burger a day. It was heavenly being able to perfect my burger. I would grill 2 Patties and bacon, then grilled jalapeños, grilled green peppers and grilled onions. Then I would grill a piece of cheese and place all the veggies on it and then put another piece of cheese on top to make a pocket of grilled veggies. Then place that between 2 Patties. Then another slice of cheese for good measure. Special sauce of course, (mayo bbq ketchup) lettuce, raw onions, pickles, and if I was feeling frisky a little hot sauce. But yes. The burgers are overpriced. 🙁
Funnily enough, thats 1:1 the same price in Euros in Germany. IMHO WAY too expensive, you can go to a real Burger Restaurant for that money, gonna cost the same and be even better.

Take that away and that would have been cheaper that $24 .. your paying for the quality of the food. Pepe's peri peri is a place that I liked that I have realised has got alot more expensive though. I actually prefer to get my fries animal style as a standalone small meal, because otherwise animal fries and animal burger is a bit over the top together. And they are the perfect vehicle for all the loaded fixings that come animal style.

As a 5 Guys GM, meat prices went up during covid so our costs went up. We also had a lack of customers due to covid so our sales decreased, so they further raised prices to combat this.
I used to work there, my suggestion is go with a freind, share a small fries (u get a LOT in the bag), share a drink or bring ur own😂 and for the burger get a double cheeseburger with all the toppings (the toppings are free) and then get free extra bun and divide the cheeseburger. Your total should be like $10 for each person.

Five guys has always been expensive, but food has always been good imo. That said, prices have definitely gotten high enough that I don't give them the time of day anymore. Went in to one a few months ago with my wife, looked at the current prices and went somewhere else. There's a longhorn steakhouse across the parking lot that we go to from time to time and can get our food with tip for about the same amount as eating at five guys.
