I’m surprised I came to doctor who late and when I saw eleven go to twelve my first thought was how much potential it could have. I must say capaldi was one of my top doctors by the time I was finished
@mrellis2463 that is a close second. But this takes the cake for me, it just feels like Peter is talking to Jodies doctor in particular, telling her to laugh hard, run fast and be kind, before letting her in
Capaldi was almost the opposite of Tennant, a harsh and gruff exterior with a kind heart, with Tennant having the agreeable and cheeky chappie exterior belying a steely and ruthless temperament
I'd say that of all modern Doctors, he is by far the one with the kindest heart. He is the one that actually held on to all pain and suffering and chose to do the opposite. Capaldi is my favorite Doctor (even if the writing was a bit shoddy at times)
Tennants Doctor tends to grandstand more. I felt Capaldi’s Doctor is the more dangerous one and had more emotional nuance. 12th is harder because he's the most vulnerable.
@@einezcrespo honestly and I might get murdered for saying this but up until 13 the 10th doctor was my least favourite doctor of modern who as 11 was the doctor that turned me into a doctor who fan, and 12 is honestly my favourite doctor, 9 and 10 are actually pretty even but I think I like 9 more as it's all we got from Christopher Eccclsion so his series feels more special, but honestly I love all the new doctors aside from 13 who is performed well, it's just what she is being asked to perform that's the problem
"You were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I." "I don't want to go." "I will always remember, when the Doctor was me." "Doctor, I let you go." Hot damn, you're right.
Jorrel Doe as far as i know capaldi completly wrote his own speech. or at least most of it, everyone else had writers do it except maybe the last words. David tennant doesn't like the take they used for " i dont want to go" for example.
I wish they'd knock it on the head. It's overly self-indulgent and getting cheesier each regeneration. Keep it short or sudden without the silly standing up in a star-pose too. Much prefer the classic era regenerations. Much less fuss.
I love this regeneration because he was tired and ready to pass on. But the TARDIS being the TARDIS put him in the same place the First Doctor chose to die so they would meet and inspire eachother to regenerate. Sometimes remembering that the TARDIS has so much more agency than we give her credit for is fun.
I also like to think of it as the one exception to the what he was talking about in the previous scene. He was talking about how their life was a battlefield and everyone else had fallen. No matter what happens the TARDIS has been the since the beginning and will continue until the end.
The TARDIS was also even speaking to him at the start. Full blown conversation with her, that only he can understand. She's incredibly involved in the story, and indeed the one and only crutch he has had and will always have.
9th doctor: you were fantastic. And you know what? So was I. 10th doctor: I don't want to go 11th doctor: I will always remember when the doctor was me 12th doctor: NEVER EAT PEARS
I was confused as to why the Bad Wolf theme played when I first watched this, but now I realise it’s because Murray Gold (the primary composer since Christopher Eccleston) was saying goodbye 😭
@@robot_pylesos The version with just the female vocals is both the Bad Wolf theme and the Ninth Doctor's theme, mainly because Rose and Bad Wolf were so integral to his character arc. And yeah, I miss Murray Gold :(

@@MikeJF85but at the end of Eleven’s life, saying his name would cause Gallifrey to come back, and “Doctor Who?” Was the question that was being beamed through the crack. Does that apply only if Eleven says it within earshot of that particular crack?
Thinking about it, why does the Doctor always regenerate in the _one_ room with the extremely vital and delicate equipment that powers the whole Tardis?
Honestly I hated him but I tried to like him he’s like so grumpy I mean srsly he is he was annoying I’m glad he’s not the doctor anymore but I honestly TRIED liking him

@@glados_gaming4170 5 and 6 also regenerated in the TARDIS My small theory is that due to the time war, Time Lords basically changed the rules of the regeneration to weaponize it.
@@vcom741 my theory is that the longer you put off the regeneration the stronger the kickback is. 9 didn't put it off and the tardis was fine, 10s first didn't fight it and the tardis was fine, 10s second he put it off to see all the companions one last time, 11s is a special case because of the reasoning around it, and 12 tried to put it off indefinitely.
i love the symbolism here. - the ring slipping off is symbolic of 12 being the last incarnation of the doctor that river sees, effectively ending their marriage. - the close-up of 13's eyes is symbolic of this being the first thing this incarnation ever sees. - the papers flying out of the tardis are symbolic of chibnall tossing out the script and almost getting the show cancelled from the atrocious writing in season 11.
The ring was actually Capaldi's wedding ring! Not the Doctor's. Capaldi requested to be able to wear it during shooting and it just made sense for it to be his and River's
He was grumpy yet caring like One, he was witty and musical like Two, he dressed and acted like Three, he was playful and alien like Four, he was fearless and energetic like Five, he was as colorful as Six, he was strategic and confident as Seven, he was mad and over the top like Eight, he was dark and brilliant like Nine, he was passionate and commanding like Ten, he was silly and rambunctious like Eleven. Peter Capaldi is the Doctor.
JetBlackSquirrel if you consider how off the rails the 13th Doctor era has taken it, Capaldi was indeed where it was leading to. Matt Smith May have had the theoretical end before a supposed lives reboot, but capaldi as stated seemed like the culmination of them all. If we consider Hartnell the start and capaldi the end it’s a damn fine run.
@@GenericGooner That is EXACTLY what I do. Capaldi really was a culmination of all the Doctors. And when you think about it, unlike with many others Capaldi's era really tied up the whole show. Not a ton of plotlines were left. -The Master's arch of nearly 50 years was finally completed with them returning to being the Doctor's friend -All companions had their stories wrapped up. -The Doctor finally knew who he was and died fighting to save others even going back to the beginning by running into his first incarnation and convincing him to continue on. -Behind the scenes a majority of the staff left not just Gold, Capaldi, and Moffat. -And as stated Capaldi embodied part of all of his past. RIP Doctor Who 1963-2017. I love you and it's been a fun ride. In the words of Clara Oswald "Thank you for making me feel special"
@@GenericGooner Yep. For me Doctor Who pretty much ended with that scene. I don't know what that thing is that's been on in its place for the past couple of years.

@@leathers4340 well, considering that there's an overwhelming majority of those Whovians with overtly conservative views I'd only just learned about as soon as Capaldi regenerated into Whittaker, can you honestly blame me?
Dr. Kira I don’t think politics has anything to do with it. It’s got nothing to do with Jodie or the doctor being female. I just think S11 was really poor, and so do a lot others. I don’t see anyone talking negatively about series 12 so far. People are sounding quite positive. Where have all us conservatives gone... haha 🤷♂️
@@connor4435 oh yeah i think Smith, Capaldi, and Tennant all have fantastic monologues!!! I think it’s honestly just down to a matter of what style you prefer. but then i guess that would also be the same as saying who is your favourite doctor? idk. i always love seeing what the doctor is truly capable of when they’re angry. And Capaldi to me was definitely the moodiest of the 3. Of course Tennent and Smith had their moments of rage (especially Tennant lol) but i always got the vibe that Capaldi’s doctor was very much “i will destroy you if i want to” without even being angry.
I feel like Matt's Doctor also had some decent speeches but Capaldi's were always just written and delivered in a way that made them less.. corny? I'm not really sure what word would describe it best but they always just came out wonderful.
Okay, I hear "oh brilliant" now that I've seen your comment. At first (plus a few times rewatching because it made no sense) I heard it as "I'm Merlin". Figured I had to be hearing it wrong, but couldn't work out what it might actually be.
It was especially heartbreaking to see Peter Capaldi, a lifelong Doctor Who fan, say goodbye to something he's wanted to be for so long. I'd argue he had one of the toughest "follow-up's" to an incredibly popular Doctor since the show's inception, and that nobody but him could have pulled off such a charismatically surly scientist you can't help but love
This is how I felt with David Tennant. He began acting in hopes of one day becoming the doctor, and he changed the series to be in a new direction. Capaldi really showed what the doctor could be from a different angle!
I particularly love how colorful the TARDIS is during his farewell. Its very rare to see the main color/lighting scheme deviate this much, yet for his goodbye, we see blends of oranges, blues, purples, yellows, it really drives home the emotional roller coaster of his speech.
While I don't want Ncuti to leave for a while, I am very interested in how his tardis would look during his regeneration since it's the most customisable tardis the show has ever had with all the lights
@@jaytender4949 Oh, I'm sorry? You're complaining that Ten was being sad about regenerating? Well, how would you feel if you knew that you were going to die, and your personality was going to be deleted and replaced with a totally different person than you? I think you'd be pretty fucking sad too.
I’m so glad that they showed Capaldi’s ring falling off, because it was something that he always wears and refuses to take off because he loves his wife so much, so it was nice that we had a moment where we saw the *real* defining thing of his outfit fall away
It wasn‘t the 1st time a ring fell off the Doctor‘s finger after regenerating. The 1st time was in The Power of The Daleks (1966) after the Doctor regenerated in the TARDIS from an old man with hair long and white into a younger.man with dark hair and being funny in front of then-companions Ben Jackson & Polly.
Another fascinating thing: we know the 12th Doctor's ring is double-banded - Capaldi's ring, and the costume ring that fit over his ring. The ring that falls off Whittaker's hand is single-banded - the costume ring. It's kinda as if the other half of the ring, the half that is Capaldi's, regenerated away with Capaldi.
I really like that too. Capaldi's Doctor didn't want to go at first, but ultimately came to accept that it was time. He was able to reach a place emotionally that Ten couldn't at that point in his life, and it's great how the series shows that through the parallels in those final lines.
The difference is, that the 10th did not know, if there would be another regeneration as until then the Timelords only knew up to 11 possibilities. He was concerned about the one cancelled regeneration in Stolen Earth thanks to his Hand. That's the reason, why the 11th checked his body right after his generation for any missing parts AND later while living this very long time in Time of the Doctor as he was then afraid even more. This only changed after River Song "gifted" him her regeneration phases (however this might be possible .. but that's probably Timelord/TARDIS logic 😅) After reciving this gift the 11th wasn't that scared of a new regeneration anymore. It's Kind of a cheat by Moffat to not to be blamed that there can't be anymore Doctors after he took over the Story. I think that's btw probably the reason why they weren't afraid of a female Doctor, as they could point out, that the new regeneration circle was gifted to him by a woman. Therefore new possibilities.
Tbf Tennants Doctor had a much shorter life than any other incarnation. Capaldis Doctor was around for at least a couple hundred years, whereas Tennants didnt even make double digits, so didnt get nearly as long to enjoy that incarnation as any other. Kind of understandable.
Richard Malone Technically the version that escaped was only there for a few hours, since every time he was killed by the walking bedsheet was when he arrived by Ashildr’s weird transport thing. So while yes, the doctor spent those billions of years escaping, he also only spent a short amount of time.
No one liked Capaldi at first because he didn't have the light hearted personality the Doctor usually puts on to cover up his pain. This one was different in the way that he hides his pain behind a more guarded, eccentric, bossy personality. However, each Doctor had his flaw, Ten's was his rage, Eleven's was his running from his pain, Twelve's was his coldness. Thirteen follows the Mary Sue tradition of making female characters flawless. They haven't demonstrated that she has a vulnerable side, and therefore is not a relatable character
@Zel Zwrd it is very wrong. Here's why, doctor who is and always has been about flawed people trying their best to correct it. It would be a betrayal of the truth for the doctor to be anything else. S/he has always been "an idiot" who cannot help it. Especially in new who, s/he is the hybrid of the messiah and pariah complexes. In fact, it's pretty clear that the doctor is depressed, deeply, s/he is conflicted by their need to be a good man and their self image of evil. They cannot be perfect because they view themselves as so deeply broken and evil. From the tenths "time lord victorious" to the ninths "just this once" s/he is convinced that the universe won't allow them to be at peace. The twelfth doctor even going so far as to consider ending their lives. S/He cannot be perfect because s/he cannot view themselves with humility, to explain I'm going to use something i was told growing up, "humility is not putting yourself down, but accepting your place, high or low as it may be." They can't. They refuse to. The vanity is palpable throughout each life. They view themselves as one extreme or another. To have that all change with a new face feels like a "it was all a dream" cop out. It removes the strife and struggles the doctor is built on. It removes the tension and realism of the doctor. Much as i love thirteen, we dont don't get much in the way of their ancient and terrifying self loathing. Edit: spelling
That's the thing with dr who. Everybody hated the second doctor at first because he was far more comedic than hartnell. But he eventually became one of the most beloved incarnation of the doctor
@Zel Zwrd in a sense yes, the regeneration creates a new personality and certainly a new approach. However, core traits do not tend to change, and a core trait of the doctor is guilt. Take the master/missy for example, while each of the incarnations is different, the core traits remain, the progress we see in the missy is very realistic, it is slow and there are setbacks. I am asking for story telling, for the new doctor to show that she is the doctor, the oncoming storm, the predator of the daleks. I'm asking for her to be more than a female "superman", because it regresses the purpose of feminism, the show writes present her as no threat and only a helper, whereas she could be more complex, more dangerous. This would prove the point that women are equal and, like men, can be very dangerous If cornered. The doctor is, by nature, helpful yes, but also very intimidating.
Moffat really brought out all the stops for Capaldi. Episodes like Listen or Heaven Sent were experimental episodes that worked so perfectly because they relied on how great an actor Capaldi is. I loved that Matt Smith episodes, but I think Capaldi and Moffat were the best combination.
Except Hate and Love are so misunderstood and misused these days that anyone can twist it. Love has been butchered to the point where it's meaningless. Most people think love is a positive emotion of affection, a feeling, when the Ancient Greeks understood that is only the weakest form of love. Putting others before yourself? Do good to others, even if they don't deserve it? Do good for others and not expecting anything in return? Putting someone's very safety and life before your own? Those things are love. True love is death to yourself and life to others. To the world the greatest forms of Love are Foolish, but I believe they are wise. The kind of love the world lifts up IS Foolish.
"Never be cruel, never be cowarldy, remember that hate is always foolish, and love is always wise, always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind, laugh hard, run fast, be kind" Yo this changed my whole damn life dude, im really greatful for what 12 said❤
I actually never did. I think he definitely didn't have the best episodes and story arcs, but there's a good amount of singular episodes that are really good.
Yeah, in my opinion, Peter Capaldi is the greatest actor to ever play the Doctor. He completely surpassed everyone that came before him, and I don't think anyone can top what he did on this show.
@@007robotchicken Capaldi, greatest actor? I'd contraire with Mr. Hartnell himself. The man still did regular Doctor Who filming on the weekly, delivering the same notch of performance at deteriorating health and mental state, with his mind simply worsening due to disease and such, even though he flubbed his lines rather often, yet he still managed to deliver. Now THAT is great acting.
i really disagree and think it was one of the worse ones, because its just a boring grey interior, looks more like a dungeon to me than a great time machine, matt's first interior and davids interior were both more colourful, and inviting
i have to say 13's post-regeneration scene is maybe my favorite...peter's ring falling off and 9's theme playing and jodie's perfectly delivered "ah brilliant" its just so good. makes me so sad that jodie never got proper writing :'(
I like to interpret it as him talking to the fandom. Every time the doctor changes the comment section gets filled with hate for the new guy and proclamations the previous one was amazing and "their" doctor. He knew that would be the reaction of the fans.
@@hououinkyouma3864 I actually don't see nearly as much hate for Jodie as I do for Chibnall. Most people who disliked her era seem to agree that Jodie was never the problem it was the scripts she was handed.
Sometimes I get the feeling that Moffat’s plan, deep down, was for Capaldi to close out the show in its current form. He always wanted him because of Peter’s versatility and charisma as an actor. 12’s journey from anger and bitterness to compassion and love resolves the arc started with 10’s “Time Lord Victorious” monologue. This soliloquy is the Doctor’s way of realizing that he’s spent so many ages trying to help others as a way of avoiding his own grief and guilt. This scene feels like a resolution for the reboot’s entire story. Alone in his last moments, the Doctor finally becomes a doctor to himself, and comes to peace with his past, present and future. The End....for now.
10th actually thought he was going to die, 12th was accepting the fact that he had to regenerate that the universe still needed him, so he accepted the regeneration, he was afraid of changing and losing himself, because in some way he'll die
Believe it or not; Peter Capaldi *was* approached by Chris Chibnall to do one more season as the Doctor. However, Capaldi turned down the offer to focus on other projects. The Twelfth Doctor is easily my favorite incarnation from the modern era of the series. I would've happily watched seven-to-eight seasons featuring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.
@@connord3291 yeah and that last season with him was so good! Bill and Nardole are also great companions. And let's not forget Missie's charisma... I would have loved to have more than one season with that trio.
@@connord3291 I'm thankful for that, I don't trust Capaldi's doctor in Chibnall's hands although he still would have done far better than Jodie (not saying she's a bad actress just that she wasn't right for the role)
At first I hated Capaldi for replacing Matt Smith.. But after three seasons, Capaldi became the "doctorest", most lovable Doctor and the hardest to let go. Doctor, who lived up to everything he asked for in his final speech, we let you go.
"Well, I suppose, one more lifetime wouldn't kill anyone. Well. Except me." I think this line may have worked better as Twelves last line especially as it fits into the darker characterisation of this incarnation of the Doctor and I felt his speech went on a little long especially when he got to the part about Children.
Wasn't a big fan of I don't want to go. It was out of character for the Doctor. I think the best was: The end is here, but the moment has been prepared for!

I absolutely love that he wore the red-lined coat that Clara left him all throughout the entire season 10 and until the very end! It got all faded and torn and raggedy (you can see this throughout his final season), but he kept wearing it because Clara "always loved that one" and left it for him with the chalkboard phrase, "Run, you clever boy." Just a really lovely touch to the season

@@ravenedgewurth Honestly, he's a decent writer. Broadchurch was a thing of beauty imo. He's just not cut out for being a showrunner for Doctor Who. He lacks that 'je ne sais quois' needed to carry a science fiction show like this. As it stands, I can't tell if he's actually a fan like he claims because the way he's written the show is pretty much how the fandom figured (over a decade ago, mind) a writer who wanted to "torch the franchise and run" would do it. I have high hopes that Thirteen can be redeemed in other media. It's just that... like the Sixth Doctor, her era is a very, VERY mixed bag and probably one of the lowest (consistent) points of the revived show so far. Though it's also well worth noting that Russell T. Davies was fairly controversial with his initial run (let us not forget "Love And Monsters", no matter how badly your PTSD begs you to).
Capaldi’s, Smith’s, and Whittaker’s speeches were so impactful! It was weird how Capaldi regenerated so quickly when it was his turn from Smith, but upon his departure, it was a long and climactic transformation.
I think the reason he regenerated so fast was because 11 was given a new regeneration cycle and him regenerating into 12 so quickly was the start of the new cycle.
@@StrifeAiray Personally I saw it as he used his regeneration energy flowing out as a weapon on Trenzalore, and used the last to get his young face back. So when he finished his speech and completed the process into 12, he didnt have the energy for the huge regeneration spectacle we usually get

And then Jodie took over... she isn't particularly good, but to think she's been there almost as long as Tennant was now, there's nothing she's done as the Doctor memorable? Compare how she's done compared with 10th or 4th or most others and she's been quite forgetable
Eccleston and Capaldi will forever go down in my favorites. I don't consider myself a Doctor Who fan anymore and had to stop watching towards the latter's last season due to extraneous life reasons, but I'll admit this made me tear up.
Totally. Nice throwback to the RTD era - when "I don't want to go" sparked silly tabloid speculation that RTD and Tennant were being forced out. Not the sort of thing that would bother Moffat but very much the sort of thing he would tease Russell about 6 years later. He also kinda gets to tease the "Moffat must go!" section of the fanbase by pretending that it's necessary to reassure everybody that he's going of his own free will. Along with the "I know they'll get it all wrong without me" he is poking a bit of fun at his own ego here.
We first see Peter Capaldi as The Doctor through his eyes, and he leaves us the same way. While he wasn't my favorite, his presence was undeniable. Thank you Twelve, and good night.

I always cry when Matt Smith says goodbye as Eleven, but the most brilliant goodbye that stayed with me for years, and probably is not leaving ever, is this one. With all due respect, I believe the only reason they said that is to cover their newly woke asses against criticism from fans who HATE the new decisions. They've stolen the show for their identity politics purposes.
In Murray Gold's final piece of music for the show, he brings back the Doctor's theme from Series One. Still sad to see one of the most under appreciated geniuses from that era go.

@@HanksClips. That is true and I can see how that might cause confusion. Plus with certain songs having fan names, like "Shepard's Boy" having the name "Breaking The Wall" by fans, more confusion is just added. I will admit, I did think that it was "Bad Wolf" for a bit, but I was listening to the music again on iTunes recently and I noticed that wasn't the case. And I'm happy that it was wrong, because, even if it isn't 13's official theme, it was at least a theme used for the Doctor.
Claudia with a Chance of swedish meatballs I think the general consensus is not that the Twelfth Doctor himself was bad, I haven't heard anybody contest the fact that Peter Capaldi is a fitting actor for the role of the Doctor and that he does a great job at it, but rather the writing was mostly kind of "meh" or just plain bad for both of his seasons.
Elysium the Bard I think a lot of people did grow to like Capaldi over his run as the doctor. Sure, he was given a load of awful episodes, but the quality definitely grew each season, until the finale of season 10, which was doctor who at its greatest again
@Mr7Reality this made me realise something!! 12 starts out with the theme "a good man?", because he is wondering if he is. At this point in time he knows he's a good man, we're past that. The sheperd's boy I associate most strongly with heaven sent, where the doctor has to chip at the diamond mountain on and on and on. So I think Capaldi's final theme is: how long can the doctor keep going on and on and on? The doctor is one hell of a bird
I really love how 13 is introduced here. Murray Gold's original theme for the doctor adds some great mystery while also establishing Whittaker as the Doctor. We get a nice build up from seeing only her feet, to seeing her in a reflection, to actually seeing her. Then she looks kinda confused but smiles and just says "brilliant". It's a great first line for a Doctor who might have some more anxiety than other Doctors, but has a cheery optimism on top of that. I just wish the rest of her era delivered on what was here, because I really love Jodie in this scene.
I completely agree. The transition from mourning Capaldi to the sheer joy of Jodie’s wide smile when she sees her reflection is a perfect balm to what we just went through, and it’s such a bummer that the writing didn’t live up to her potential.
I just realized that was Murray Gold's last contribution and goodbye to Doctor Who. He ended his run with his original theme from Series 1. Kinda sad when I thought about it.
I think someone said that it’s not the first time the doctors ring fell off. Meaning that he was married before river. Not sure how true it is but still worth a mention..
@@glados_gaming4170 It is Capaldi's ring, his wedding ring as it happens. He wears it in every job he can. They made like a plate for it with a Raxacorocofallapatorian crystal and let him have it for his costume. This is all from Steven Moffat's monthly ask me anything in the DWM, I believe.
@@isaacbluestone1462 When the first Doctor regenerated, his ring that he loved fell off. And then the second Doctor never picked it up the way I remember.
Back in the classic series, the doctor didn't even regenerate in the TARDIS from time to time, yes, there was 1-2, 5-6 and 6-7, but 2-3 was on gallifrey, 3-4 was in his unit lab, 4-5 was on the grass at the bottom of the pharos satellite, 7-8 was in hospital and 8-war was on karn.
So, I heard somewhere that the Doctor's final words are made by the actor, as a farewell to the show. 9th: "You were absolutely fantastic. And you know what? 9th's line seems super relevant in hindsight, considering most people disliked him compared to future Doctors. "So was I" is almost a direct challenge.
@PUNMPKIN me too, nine isn't most people's favorite but it's hard to find someone who doesn't like him. he is generally just forgotten about which sucks, because personally he is my favorite doctor
@PUNMPKIN he was disliked since he was the first doctor who to be introduced as the new who universe meaning he started up again a franchise that had long been memorized as the war doctor being the last and he was the start of a new show so he was hated because of skepticism
The ring bit is a little reminiscent of the very first regeneration when the Second Doctor found that the ring the First Doctor wore didn't fit him anymore...

Not really, they should have just hired a competent showrunner and new doctor and failed on both. They went woke however so the show had to die on a sour note.
@@arcadius3257 the show has always been "woke". 10th is great, I admit. But... I prefer darker-but-kinder Doctors.
I'd say that of all modern Doctors, he is by far the one with the kindest heart. He is the one that actually held on to all pain and suffering and chose to do the opposite. Capaldi is my favorite Doctor (even if the writing was a bit shoddy at times)

I love the contrast between ten and twelves regenerations. From "I dont wanna go" to "I let you go"
I really like that too.
This only changed after River Song "gifted" him her regeneration phases (however this might be possible .. but that's probably Timelord/TARDIS logic 😅)
After reciving this gift the 11th wasn't that scared of a new regeneration anymore.

Maybe following those lines, Jodie's final line will be something like, "Doctor I welcome you".
EvilSnowVO you forgetting ecclestone? He had the shortest!

I remember when we didnt like Capaldi. Boy, we did not imagine to be this attached by the time he left. Come back........
I hate th 13th doctor. Capaldi is perfect
S/He cannot be perfect because s/he cannot view themselves with humility, to explain I'm going to use something i was told growing up, "humility is not putting yourself down, but accepting your place, high or low as it may be."
They can't.
When you realize this entire speech is Steven Moffat saying goodbye to The Doctor, it hits you that much harder.

ChiliConQueso Moffat definitely predicted the future “Yes I know they’ll all get it wrong without me!”

Wish some "fans" would understand that
Except Hate and Love are so misunderstood and misused these days that anyone can twist it.

Along with the "I know they'll get it all wrong without me" he is poking a bit of fun at his own ego here.

callum morgan Yes, you have noticed the Doctor is often in England. Perhaps this is because it is a British show.
So, I heard somewhere that the Doctor's final words are made by the actor, as a farewell to the show.
9th: "You were absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I."
10th: "I don't want to go."
11th: "I will never forget one line. I promise you that. I will always remember when the Doctor was me."
12th: "Laugh hard, run fast, be kind. Doctor, I let you go."
Correction:
11th: "I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I will always remember when the Doctor was me."
9th's line seems super relevant in hindsight, considering most people disliked him compared to future Doctors. "So was I" is almost a direct challenge.
@@t.estable3856 I never thought of it that way but you're definitely right.
Loved the 9th doctor by the way. Can't wait to see more!!
@PUNMPKIN me too, nine isn't most people's favorite but it's hard to find someone who doesn't like him. he is generally just forgotten about which sucks, because personally he is my favorite doctor
@PUNMPKIN he was disliked since he was the first doctor who to be introduced as the new who universe meaning he started up again a franchise that had long been memorized as the war doctor being the last and he was the start of a new show so he was hated because of skepticism
she's been here one minute and already lost her wedding ring and her tardis... river is so going to kill her
or kiss her. or more likely both
thirteenstardis I don't believe in Chibnail
it was a joke.....chill
The ring bit is a little reminiscent of the very first regeneration when the Second Doctor found that the ring the First Doctor wore didn't fit him anymore...
Elli Clarice Yep
"I suppose one more lifetime wouldn't kill anyone...
...well, except the show itself”
"Hate is always foolish, & love is always wise." "Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind."
Wiser words have never been uttered... *salutes 12*
The "love is always wise" part could be reworded in a better way. Cause I'm pretty sure he'd be meaning like, the Greek 'Agape' love. Not our modern failure of a definition.
@@bluejacket4429 i mean the meaning of love still wise but its really fucked up those years
Inspired from the wise Bertrand Russell
Quote by Bertrand Russell
yes, remember that next time you see someone shitting on Jodie
12th: Never be cowardly.
13th: I'm socially awkward so I'm gonna stand over there.
Hey, since when does the Doctor take advice from anyone?
I am expecting them to eat a pear next just to complete the clear 180 they did on this speech.
@@MithrilRoshi I mean let's be real, the writers have been recycling his "lessons" since Tennant.
I grow Columbus just strawberry ocean
@@kaylena4209 phrase "never be cruel or cowardly" were used for the first time by Moffat in 1999's spoof The Curse Of Fatal Death, so it's preceding Tennant a bit.
Final regeneration lines:
War: I do hope the ears will be a bit less conspicuous this time.
9: You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic...and you know what? So was I!
10: I don't want to go
11:I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I will always remember when the Doctor was me.
12: Laugh hard, run fast, be kind. Doctor, I let you go.
Bill Goff wait what about the over five
just the modern doctors here
😭😭
1: No, it’s far from being all over!
2. No! Stop! You’re making me giddy! No! No!
3. A tear, Sarah Jane? No, don’t cry. While there’s life there’s…
4. It’s the end but the moment has been prepared for.
5. It feels different this time… Adric?
6.Yes, I will regenerate. Our future’s in safe hands.
7.The master! He’s still out there!
8. Physician, heal thyself.
Jodie's Final Lines are probably gonna be "Girl power".
They should have ended Doctor Who with Capaldi. It felt like he completes the doctor’s arc that was in place since Eccleston.
Not really, they should have just hired a competent showrunner and new doctor and failed on both.
They went woke however so the show had to die on a sour note.
@@arcadius3257 the show has always been "woke". Jack has been bi since 2005, a female doctor was first thought of after Pertwee left, Bill, the 12th doctor's last companions was obviously lesbian and it was heavily implied Clara was too. Jodie was trying her best with the script she was given, maybe watch something else she was in before hating her
@@youcantakemehottogo Its not "woke" to have a bi or gay character in your show.
It IS woke when you're going to put a rosa f*cking park focused story in a show where it doesn't belong, change a character that has been male for over 50 years to female and make her unnecessarily harsh to male characters in a way that the doctor never is.
And thats only scratching the surface of the steaming pile of shit that is recent Doctor Who.
You can claim that the show has "always been woke" all you like but the numbers speak for themselves, the moment chibnail took over and had his precious little feminist doctor they both turned this show into real woke trash and like with anything thats woke people started dropping it because shockingly enough...normal people dont want to be preached to or have someones political views shoved down their throat while they're trying to consume entertainment.
They were already pushing it in the capaldi era by using SJW lingo like "toxic masculinity", having an all female millitary force and implying that males are too egotistical, chibnail and shittaker just cranked it up to 11
@@arcadius3257 honestly I can't be bothered to read that, woke isn't necessarily a bad thing, but yes, it can be taken to far
@@youcantakemehottogo *Translation* "I don't have a retort so i'm going to pretend I didnt read it and just double down on my shitty take"
Woke garbage is always a bad thing, you just don't mind because you're the exact kind of person woke crap is catered to.
Well she can't have a start worse than Matt, he set the TARDIS ablaze.
_Blows up TARDIS _*_and_*_ falls out of it_
Welp.
(Regenerates.)
Well, finally a regeneration can drive the TARDIS.
(Pushes one button...
and blows up the entire thing.)
Never mind.
Well he never fell out of it he crashed with it
_tree_ pig_ I think he was talking about Jodie, not Matt. And technically, Matt DID fall out of the TARDIS, just not all the way.
XD
Pretty much every Doctor touches the TARDIS inappropriately when they appear in it.
"Oh, Brilliant!"
*Pushes Button*
*Everything explodes*
Yup, she's definitely the Doctor!
HK-51Fan yes😂
Should have read the instruction manual first. Oh wait. Instruction manual, useless
HK-51Fan it's ridiculous, why a woman doctor! They are ruining tradition! Disgraceful!
Threw it into a Black Hole. LOL
Oh, go away
Stop regenerating in the bloody TARDIS.
Sooner or later, He/she is going to blow up the TARDIS AGAIN!! do the space time cracks thing AGAIN! and re-re-write the universe AGAIN!!!
He knows she can survive it, she just gets a bit peeved at having to reconstruct *again*. Honestly after so long you think the Time Lords would have developed technology for a regeneration-proof room though I suppose that's less dramatic for the plot.
Well, to be fair. The Doctor did regenerate in a morgue once, scared the living day out of the poor nurse.
(It's the Doctor Who Movie from 1996, if you want to watch it.)
ecclestone to tennants regeneration didn't destroy the tardis iirc
@@CaratsRitzy
That is the time he was dead too long,
It was hinted in the movie that the doctor was part human after that regeneration perhaps in part thanks to his proximity to the human bodies during regeneration.
