This sums his character up so perfectly. The entire Twice Upon a Time episode is a Doctor Who masterclass (one of the best episodes of all time), but his final monologue before he regenerates drives your point home. It's him, telling his next incarnation what to be and what he'd learned along the way. I watch it as a dying father writing a letter to his daughter, telling her all his hopes and dreams for her knowing he'll never get to see her grow up.
And then Jodie Whittaker appears. And we're an unholy mess of sobbing and hope.

@NovaWolf Gaming Series 8 had some brilliant episodes compared to Series 11; take Mummy on the Orient Express for example. Plus Peter's acting was always good, even if the episode was meh. Also Peter's companions were played by actresses who were above average , unlike Jodie's. Jodie herself is a competant actress but I feel she's not a leading actress. That's why she doesn't really stand out amongst the companions. And as for gravitas, I'm afraid Peter's acting puts Jodie's to shame. Full stop.

The Doctor knows that Clara couldn't ask him to use his TARDIS to fix Danny Pink's death, because he would quite clearly say "no" because of what has happened previously (when Rose went back to see her Dad and tried to save him). He knew that she would try to do something that reckless to force his hand. He was betrayed that she simply didn't ask, but he cares for her and her happiness like all of his companions.
I have friends like that in life, and those words resonated with me. Just because a friend has turned their back on me doesn't mean I will instantly turn my back on them in their time of need. I won't forgive them, or maybe I will but I won't forget. But when you are friends (sometimes the best of friends) you will always do whatever it takes to protect them. That is me to my friends. I’d have to disagree with you there. Peter Capaldi is a good actor but hardly the best.

The Doctor's speech about being scared being a superpower is honestly one of the best moments in all of Doctor Who. Everyone wishes they knew how to comfort a child that's terrified of something, and Capaldi probably gave one of the best ideas for comfort I've ever heard

There are so many moments from Capaldi's tenure as The Doctor that are incredible. One I think which sometimes goes overlooked is his conversation with Davros. It's a full circle acceptance since the beginning of the Capaldi Doctor who was unsure if he was a good man, and it really is two estranged old almost-friends talking to one another after so much time apart. You can tell the Doctor truly cares about Davros, and strangely enough you can see that Davros does as well.
And then it also outlines in a few short words the Doctor's modus operandi:
    "Compassion, then"
    "Always"
"It grows strong and fierce in you, like a Cancer"
    "I hope so"
"It will kill you, in the end"
"I wouldn't die of anything else"
I love that so much, and I'm glad this compilation put it in there.

I don't like the scene between the Doctor, Danny and Clara because Clara knows he was ready to destroy his own planet to stop a war, she knows he was not in the back giving orders and why he hate soldiers and yet she say nothing when Danny is provoking the Doctor, she's even taking Danny side.

Capaldi will always be my second favourite Doctor (ten has my heart and I grew up with him). Capaldi acted The Doctor so beautifully, always calm and collected with occasional breaks in emotion, he was a good man and he always knew what was right, his face was a reminder of his past and a reminder to do the right thing, he was loving and full of compassion, he was perfectly written and Capaldi gave the best acted performance of The Doctor in my opinion, he entered a mindset of acceptance rather than regret, I believe 9,10 and 12 all share a trait, they work off of one another and use their own experiences in their own respective times as ways to remind us to do one thing, be kind.

Hands down, the finest actor ever to play the Doctor. And I say that with nothing but the deepest love and respect for all the other Doctors. But none of them - not Tennant, not Baker, none of them - commanded a scene or delivered a layered performance like Peter Capaldi.

Honestly, Capaldi’s doctor is probably going to go down as one of the best, if not the definitive best, doctor of them all. Unlike many of the others, his personality changed organically over the course of the season, (a trait shared most by the 10th and 11th doctors to a lesser extent). He couldn’t be labeled the goofy doctor, or the serious doctor, or the calculating doctor etc because he isn’t just one of those type of traits. Even the 4th doctor mostly stayed the same throughout his time as the doctor, (at no fault of his own, only based on the writing). When we, as the audience, saw Capaldi’s doctor, we immediately assumed they were doing something horrible; that the acting was bad, the writing was bad, or something else was bad. We based our opinion of this doctor off the previous ones, which had a combination of brilliant character/story development mixed with fart jokes and adult innuendos; we were used to it being more of a light-hearted show. However, this doctor took 90% of those out and focused, purely, on the story and the characters involved. Of course some of the childish humor of past was present to a certain degree, but the jokes landed better because there was less of it overall. Whether this decision was the right one or not is debatable; some will say they prefer it to be a lighthearted show, while others prefer it to be a mostly serious drama. Both have their positives and negatives. However, the one thing we can all agree on is that Capaldi’s performance as the doctor was brilliant, Shakespearean, and borderline perfect. His doctor will absolutely be missed.
