You’re right. They broke the mold when they made him!
You missed first available on a record by 'The Family'.
@@xXTheoLinuxXx Thank you Theo, I had no idea this version even existed! I just finished listening to the live performance by The Family in a tribute to Prince after his passing, and it is truly beautiful as well, & also learned that Prince wrote this song specifically for them ❤️ If anyone would like to listen to their version, I am including the link: ua-cam.com/video/gt1YhpQb8go/v-deo.html
If the hair on your arms don't stand up when Chris starts singing...your're not human
She is a lady .she don't have hair on arms.😄
I guess I'm not human.
Nothing like a 60 year old man crying whenever he sees Chris sing. R.I.P.
Wes Hutchinson , and a 54 year old..
49 also.....
45 years old. Same...
Me too brother. Me too
Me too. I saw him in concert a year before he died. Just him an accompanist. He was just as you see, beautiful and soulful. I miss him.
Chris Cornell had such texture and emotion to his voice. What a generational talent.
I was fortunate enough to see him live on a couple of his solo tours (as well as with Adioslave and Soundgarden) he gave me goosebumps and took my breath away with every performance. So sad I'll never see him live again...no one sings like you anymore.
Chris was something special as we all know.He had such power while yet soulful. His voice was such a gift to this world.I cannot express what his music has meant. That’s a sign of a true artist.
He took a piece of my heart with him when he died. RIP Chris💔
When you mention the sound in his throat they don’t call him the howl of Seattle for nothing. That rasp is to die for and there will never be another Chris Cornell 😭 miss you buddy rip
His voice has some distortion and growl with a rich and full huskiness and power. Unlike just pure opera and classical singing Chris sing purely from the heart with power without worrying how glossy it is. That is the magic and uniqueness of it. Appreciate it for what it is and the genre he comes from. Back then the music was imperfectly perfect.
Teacher: How does he do that?
Me: That's Chris Cornell...
Great reaction, he was a master!
When Chris started singing I lasted about 5 seconds before the tears shot in my eyes 😢
Same. I can only handle this song when I am prepared emotionally
Damn that hit me watching this
I made it to 3 seconds
Sinead does the same thing to me. THey are both some of my favorite singers of all time.
My favorite vocalist
..BY FAR!!!
For me, no one even comes close....
....and as incredible as he sounds here, its 20 years past his prime.
RIP HIRRICANE CORNELL
I agree, and while he doesn’t have the raw power he did in his younger years...in every other respect he was much better during this era. I consider this Chris’ vocal prime.
Been a fan of his vocals since Superunknown 25 years ago. He is sorely missed.
I totally agree. Best ever
Im not ashamed to shed a tear hearing Chris's voice.
If Eddie Vedder's voice touched my heart, Chris touched my soul.
He was incredible. I miss him everyday.
Same here. I cried like a little child the day that he died. I'll always view him as a once in a lifetime artist, that there will never be another even close to being like him.
@@davekemp1808 Yes, it hurts everytime I watch him.
every day? really? were you married to him? ...
@@ollihro82 That means nothing. He and his wife were married & from what I've seen/read, I doubt she misses him everyday.
@@davekemp1808 Man, pretty harsh. No one can get inside the dynamics of someone else's relationship.
Sinead's version seem to use the pain from the song to generate more of an anger emotion while performing; Chris's version seems to come from a place of sorrow/longing rather than anger...
Yes, I get the same vibe whenever I hear Sinead's and Chris's versions
I absolutely love both versions.
He was just a naturally gifted man with the voice that made us all love him.
There are certain people in the world that don't play or sing music they are music. He was one of them.
One of the most haunting and soulful versions of a song ever!! R.I.P CHRIS CORNELL!! 🤘🤘
Chris Cornell RIP, your voice always will live here! We miss you! 😪
I wouldn't care if Chris and Layne never sang another tune..... as long as they were still with us today.....
Neither of them could be alive again and not sing. It's who they were....all of those that fell from that last great era of music. What a shame. It was supposed to last forever...but so it goes. RIP guys. We'll always love you.
Kurt cobain, Brad Nowell, Scott Weiland.
Miss both of them.... R.I.P. x2
@@bosshogg8447 It does last forever in their gifts to us.
If they never sang another tune, they would feel as if they were in hell. Let's keep them in heaven where they belong. Singing to God.
I don’t know how she held her tears back. It seems like she was stopping the song so she wouldn’t tear up. Hell.... I teared up. Chris has always had that distinct & incredible voice! RIP
Chris had one of the strongest voices in rock coupled with an insanely large range that only a vocal god like Freddie Mercury could eclipse. I honestly think we will not see another rock vocalist like him in my lifetime.
Geoff tate mid 80's. Hard to equate CC and FM. One tried to hit notes and the other (CC) just hit the notes he wanted at the time
No one can touch Chris
Everyone has their opinions.
100%
Talk about range listen to slaves and bulldozers
I am amazed how he creates such deep sound with barely opening his mouth
You are the 2nd opera singer who I've watched that over how Chris sings, that means so much to all of us, his fans. This song in particular, even if it's not his he made it his just by how much passion/pain he sings it with. Every time I hear this it makes me very emotional
I still shed literal tears for him.... Especially with songs like this
I couldn't watch this for a long time after he passed I was listening to it every day to mourn Prince.
Absolutely my favorite vocalist unfortunately Chris took his own life a couple years ago thank you for your insight to one of the greatest of all time in my opinion.
Chris could sing anything and make it sound incredible. He had a unique voice and he could touch your heart from his soul
I love how you said wish you could interview him and that's part of the beauty of this cover unfortunately he's not with us anymore and if you asked him it would be like asking God how we are here. It's an ache in the pit of the stomach craving to know how but maybe not having the answer & having to accept we will never know is what makes it all the more beautiful to listen to.
Chris Cornell my favorite singer ever that helped me
R.I.P. CHRIS
YOU TOUCHED MANY LIVES WITH YOUR MUSIC....
Warrior of the Light with the voice of an angel. His gift was music, but his mission so much more. To a hero and the greatest artist of our generation, Chris, no one sings like you anymore. RIP and Godspeed.
Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog...with Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder….it will blow your mind..id love to hear your reaction...then you will hear what Chris Cornell really sings like
Please do the studio version, it's more flattering in my opinion.
This is actually better. Chris wasn’t replying on power as much, but he simply killed it here.
He makes Vedder sound like puke!
Anything else from TOTD. This is too little of CC and makes EV sound really poor.
I’ve never felt compelled to shed a tear while listening to this song for years. When I listen to Chris’ version, I have a hard time containing them. He had the ability to illuminate the layers in the song, the different emotions. I believe part of this song....he was able to relate/identify with. He sang it, and I bought everything he brought 🙏🏻
I read an interview where his mom said “he came out of the womb screaming like that.” I think this is one that was born with greatness and it’s so unique to him that it’s impossible to replicate or change.
Such an excellent version of this song, the arrangement is beautiful. And Chris Cornell...wow.
Not only am I again of his music since I grew up with it during my late teens and early 20's ( yes I'm old enough to be one of the lucky Gen-xers ) but it's amazing that he had a four octave voice in a genre that it's almost unheard of.
I'm not an expert but there's another vocal coach on UA-cam who teaches this type of singing. His name is Ken Tamplin, and he explains that to be able to produce a healthy distorted sound you must first learn how to sing with a clear tone and a solid open-throat technic. Once you've done that, then you start by holding your breath and lean into the sound little by little. He clarifies that this must be done carefully and step by step. And over time, you would be able to add as much distortion as you like, but always going back to a clear sound or tone.
Linor, you are so fascinating to watch. I love your expressions and your passion. And love your voice, so pure and soothing . Wow
You can hear the pain. Soulful. Beautiful.
That "constraint" in his voice is what makes him unique. You can feel the heaviness to the point you can almost feel what he's going through in life.
He was a master at what he did from a very young age even. Everything he touched turned to gold.
R.I.P
My husband and I saw him in 2016 on his solo tour and it was breathtaking how he could fill an entire theater with just his voice and a guitar. The emotion he conveyed in his voice was palpable. It was easily the best show we've ever seen. Such a great/unique talent taken too soon.
Please do more Chris Cornell 🥺 "When I'm down" live is super amazing pleaseee
RIP Chris. The world is not better without you. You are missed by many.
I love the way you were able to get fully engaged with the song. I’m not a singer, nor a teacher, but I have a very good ear for music. Especially when music is complimented with great singing. Watching your reaction, it appears that you were all in, physically, mentally, and spiritually. That’s what this song does for me 🙋🏻♂️
RIP to in my opinion the best rock singer ever. from a bass c#2 to very clean mixes at b4, c5 and 80s hair metal style heady distorted mixes well above that. 4 octaves of greatness.
Freddie Mercury
@@AngryVikingGod Cornell had more range. Could sing both higher and lower than mercury You're entitled to your opinion though.
Goosebumps from the first note! He was such a gift to us! ❤️❤️❤️
Chris knew exactly what he was doing with is voice. There is no book to analyze him with. He was truly in a league of his own. No one could sound like him
Chris Cornell is a total eargasm. He’s a true artist.
He was known as The Voice. He could access all areas and get away with it. It was just one of those rarest of the rare gifts in life.
I'm not a vocal teacher, but his voice sounds like he's trying to hold back crying,if that makes sense???
I always feel the same thing, it makes even more sense when you know that he was depressed
Yes! 😍There’s such a vulnerability to it. All the feels 😩
That makes total sense. Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana Come Out of the grunge era. They were not as clean as singers cuz they could have been. But they were great singers in the display of emotion. The grunge singers always felt that displaying the emotions and being will willing to be on the verge of tears was the job. Display your emotions, and let the audience feel them with you. You did not have to be perfect, display the honesty of what you feel. There was so many lead vocalist of that era who ended their lives prematurely. It is so very sad to me. With respect to you and everyone. I wish you all every good thing, with respect, Brant Heavner 😊😊
@@brantheavner9770 I Agree.I grew up in Washington state , moved to the Midwest in my 30's 1997, I lived in Aberdeen Washington and was totally in the Music Scene, the guys from Metal church, Nirvana,The Melvin's, used to come into the nightclub I worked at in the 80's before they were famous, started hanging out in Olympia all the way to Seattle until I eventually got married and moved. The music scene was really rich with A LOT A LOT OF TALENT. I love Nirvanas 1st albums. Melvins are great, the sound like Sabbath, Metal Church was much Better with Singer David Wayne...watch te children pray is fantastic . Mike Howes ok....Any videos on UA-cam after 1988 is Mike Howe. Then there's Soundgarden (they got there band name from an actual garden near Seattle) Alice in Chains ,Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam,Green River, Screaming Trees, etc etc etc.....
Thank you so NMJ for replying to my post. I am coming to this music late. I am older and I started listening to music when the Beatles were on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 and I was a very small boy. I've always worked a lot and I was very busy in the early 90s so grunge was background music, I heard it, but at the same time, I didn't pay attention to its depth of emotion because I had so much on my mind in those days. Now it's like a beautiful thing that I've discovered and find that I love very deeply. I've always been in love with music and come from a musical family. Sadly, I am not Musical. My love is words and I wrote a poetry book and self-published it. My book is called love romance and vulnerability. Unfortunately, the two book stores that sell sold it went out of business. Then, I had a fight with my web designer and she took down my website. Lol. At this point in my life, I'm working on rebuilding my life and my health. Plus in my spare time, I'm writing another book called in the book Garden of the dark dragon. Anyway, thank you for listening to my story. And I thank you for the lovely reply to my post. I wish you every good thing and all your dreams come true. A hug I send to you, with respect always, Brant Heavner 😊😊
His voice actually got better the older he got.
But he never got old...😪
Same with. Johnny Cash. Hurt
It still really saddens me to think about his death. He was one of the few big singers that made it through the 90's Seattle scene. He sure was a huge talent.
His voice mimics the sadness in the Cello
I’ve heard it several times and I still well up! His delivery was just awesome 👏🏻
“Really, really good”
Such an understatement
This draws so much emotion. I never ever really listened to the lyrics fully before this performance. When he says the Doctor is a fool it just grabs me
This was my first view of your videos and you have gained a fan and subscriber after viewing a few more of your videos. I enjoy your perspective as an opera singer, a perspective that I have not seen in reaction videos. You are also very charming and pleasant in your videos and you have both an inner and outer beauty that shines through in your work... especially when you are finding joy in the music. Excellent videos and I will be sure to watch your previous work as well as new videos and point my friends to your content.
I'd love to see more Chris Cornell reactions. You'd also be interesting talking about Myles Kennedy.

Tengger 'heaven' ua-cam.com/video/H2mvc0miJ-w/v-deo.html
Sweetheart Chris Cornell commited suicide about 2 years ago, but if he was alive i'm sure he would love to do a interview for you !! Great video and great reaction!!
Inside of his throat was just pure magic.
One of my favorite guilty pleasures is watching the reaction to women first few seconds into chris cornell solo acoustic. Whether it's in person or on a video it's always the same lol. Even in death he drive the ladies nuts! Tried it with a gay friend of my ex and he reacted like a teenage girl at the ed Sullivan theater at the start of Beatle mania. Screaming fanning his face. True story Lol Chris was the full package. Looks, personality, work ethic, talented singer songwriter with unmatched tone and technic who will go down in history as the Jimi Hendrix of vocalist for generations to come!
she's in love, you see hat when she took a long breath and that look in her eyes. great reaction.
Cool reaction, thanks. Watching you - someone so invested in and deeply connected to music - be moved by this performance should be a ray of light for everyone saddened by this man's death. It's proof that his work and his spirit will live on with others long after we've all come and gone.
First time watching you and I think you gave a great reaction. I enjoyed seeing/hearing your reaction. Couldn't help noticing at times you were kind of at a loss for words in listening to Cornell sing......he's got that kind of reaction from the rest of us too!! Thanks for being true Linor!
He had so much power & emotion! & u are & will always b missed Chris!
Almost has a bit of a southern twang in parts of it. I think that generates some of the intended emotions. I needed that cry. Thanks brother. 💗🙏✌
My whole body goosebumped and eyes welled up on that first line. WOW stunning
Adorable how u said 'let's just hear a lil more'... 🤩🤩😍😍
Another fantastic reaction, thank you Linor..
This is such a great song, and both Sinead and Prince really did it well, but this is the version I try to emulate when I preform it. The power and the feeling in his voice really resonates with me and always has. He was definitely a big influence on my vocals. Belt when it's appropriate, but choking up on some notes can really get the feelings across. Rock in peace Chris. We all miss you.
I’m a very big tough man but dam it if I don’t cry sometimes when I hear Chris sing. The world is a darker place without his voice in it ☹️
I enjoy your open nature and skilled and constructive comments; thanks for the video!
I'm a guitar player and most of my life I listen to guitar oriented songs. Chris is the one that brought me over. And said listen to the voice also. I am a grown man at 54 years of age, But I can say with confidence, I really love., Chris's voice wish you were still here.
agreed a very nice voice for sure. quite good talent for sure. very diverse. Really appreciate you showing this.
What an awesome voice..that can never be replaced..
Thank you. The tone, something he was born with!
I love your fascination with his voice and wondering how he achieves it, I believe it is god given, he is a legend and I miss him.
I love this so much, always makes me tear up.
Raw emotion, heart wrenching.
No words. The voice of angels
Masterpiece !!! Great reaction !!!!
Dear Linor, you make my day every time I see you. Thank you a lot
Really enjoyed your reaction.
You're description of this is perfect. "Sometimes there's a little bit of enjoyment in sorrow"
Every time the music is touching your heart, you become even more beautiful Linor
Watching reaction videos from people who know what they are talking about getting blown away by this performance...so many feels...
Chris was such an unbelievable talent. Many people may hear his mainstream songs, but never really take a deep dive into his catalog. Early in his career, he could hit the highest notes effortlessly, a transcendent voice in rock, possibly only matched by his incredible song writing.
Chris could also cover any song and not only mimic the original singer to a tee, but he could also transform the song into something new and profoundly deep. Whether it was Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, or Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, his talent to do this has been unmatched thus far, in my opinion.
You are absolutely wonderful your voice is beyond measure and you are very beautiful too. Please I would like to see more videos of your singing I am a new subscriber and I find your videos very fascinating thank you.
Love your commentary!!
Chris had an amazing voice. I heard him live with Audioslave in Houston TX. Listen to his lyrics. He was in a lot of pain. I can understand why he ended his life. He was a tremendous artist.
Thank you for reacting to this version. He has a song called Scream that he does acoustically as well. It's really good!
very nice version of the song! I prefer this one too ^^ Love your explanations and your energy! :D
Say hello to heaven chris. Miss u like hell
You wish you could interview him, we all wish you could. Thank you for the video. Hope you found your peace Chris.
Might I suggest two Cornell songs that for me are among the finest demonstrations of his incredible talent : Steel Rain from Euphoria Morning and The Last Remaining Light from his Audioslave period. Please do a video on that.
Great video. I dig your emotion
He was amazing and through his music he will continue to amaze all that will listen.
The tension you are describing is more than affectation. And yes it's bad for the singers vocal health. Chris's voice was so strong to begin with, that he could hurt himself to express something painful, then go right back to the soaring beautiful notes.
He was born with a gift, and he worked very hard to make the most of it.
If he were still here, I'd bet he'd love talking music with you.
Keep singin.
Peace
The instrumental choice-fantastic
Everything you see here is a style choice. His vocal range and style range were unreal.
