I’m trying to imagine their reunion from the elephant’s perspective - you make friends with this tiny little critter who’s even smaller than a baby, who isn’t very good at swimming so you have to save him sometimes, and he has a special call when he sees you. But one day he disappears and doesn’t come back, way past the times he usually turned back up. Did something happen? Did he get swept away by the river? But then one day…you hear his distinctive call again! He found his way home to you! It reminds me of videos of people being reunited with a long-lost pet: such disbelief and joy!
