- A review of the Yonex Vcore 98 Tour .
I consider the frames pro's and cons, look at who it may be suited to and I look to categorise the frame, comparing it to similar rackets like the Vcore 98 305, Head Extreme Tour, Ezone 98 Tour etc.

The Vcore Tour is a fantastic frame. Leather in the handle gives it a little more headlight balance and this thing flies through the air. Love this frame and the channel.
@seanTenney777, thinking of trying this with the VCore Tour 98 myself i.e. a leather grip to make it more HL. Have you done any weights and balance checks post the leather grip modification?
@@bsinghgill Yes! I added an additional 4g of lead into the handle underneath the leather. Add an overgrip and my Tour clocks in at 5-5.5 points headlight. Feels really good.
Thanks for the review. I've been playing with the tour for the last 3-4 months and really enjoy it. I think people should be warned it isn't a very forgiving racket. If you hit a "pure" ball, as in this video, you are rewarded. Outside the sweet spot and you will hit clunkers. I did "customize" mine a bit. I got it on sale and there was only a 4 available, I usually hit a 3, so went with a thinner grip and weighted the handle. That helps the swing weight and getting this racket through the air is great.
Fantastic review, keep the great work up Andy!
Great review Andy! Drilling down a bit more on the ISO 315 vs VCT comparison: which do you think would better suit a flatter-hitting, extreme-eastern forehand and OHBH? And why? Thank you!
I think the Tecnifibre would suit that profile much more. Perhaps try the vcore 95 if you like that line. Big fan of the iso 315 as you have probably picked up and it’s not mentioned or sold enough by retailers
Thanks Andy. Really enjoy your measured and detailed reviews.
I’ve weighted up my VCore 95s with lead at 3&9 and a leather grip. Strung weight 349g and balance 310mm. How would you compare this to them, knowing that you’ve hit with the 95 a lot?
Thank you!
Good shout , I have hit the 95’s a lot.
This has much more power, higher launch and more access to spin. Hope that helps
Hi. Thought I share. I've got a pair of the 98 tour and a pair of the 95 weighted at 3&9 and on leather grip. The 98s still provide higher launch angle and spin, however the 95s were nicer on days where I need to hit a little lower with power, and volleys (98 tour for groundstrokes while 95 for serve and volley). Interestingly, these 2 rackets, to me, are quite interchangeable, thus I select the racket depending on who I'm playing with for the day.
Wow your video looks awesome. How do you get your whites like a light shining from my computer screen?
Great review, Andy! I always enjoy your thorough reviews. The VCT is such a solid racquet, I’m really enjoying it. How did you like the Lux Savage/Poly Tour Pro string setup in it?
Thank you!
I personally much preferred it with a full bed of poly tour pro. I like savage black and think it is a great string for spin, particularly in 100 sq inch head sizes. I guess the VCT can generate so much spin the poly tour pro was a nice counter and it kept the swing weight a few points lighter for me . Hope that helps
Great review!
How does the VCT 98 2023 compare to Blade V9 16x19 for an all court racket with bias towards comfort & spin, upper intermediate player? Also, I tend to overhit (few inches over back line) what string/tension do you recommend with VCT?
Thanks for the great review.how does it compare to the vcore 98 plus in terms of control, power and spin potential?
Curious what’s a better defensive frame for digging balls out? I have the 95 Vcore right now but that thing is offense only and put all your effort into kind of frame
Will it compare nicely to a customized aero 98? Currently using customized aero 98 with 336-337sw, balanced at 31.7cm, 340g(all in w max power 1.25, babolat leather grip, double wilson og).
Thinking of trying this with leather grip to get the balance right w my customized aero 98
they need to make a percept 97 with the same weighting as this
Thanks how's it compare to radical mp aux?
Have you tried weighing up a regular Vcore 98 to this spec to check how similar it feels?
Good shout, no I have not but am curious as to whether there would be a difference
The Head Boom Pro has a seriously high launch angle, i found it hard to adjust to when slicing the ball. Maybe a comparison to it would be interesting because it is similar weight and head shape
How did you find this vs 100d?/iso 305
How does the Head Radical PRO compare?
Much less power and spin from the radical pro. This frame offers good control still, I have had a lot of people pick this frame when they go through our racket assessment and demo match service when they are coming from heavy control rackets. If you use the radical pro now this is worth a hit, you will get more power and spin
