I made this hat with 66 stitches instead of 55, and it still came out quite small. It fits my head very snugly, and definitely won’t fit my father in law who I was making it for. I definitely recommend going quite a bit bigger if making it for a man.
Also, would love to see round instructions in text on the video so it’s easy to scrub through! I was relying on ccs which was tough

This is so easy to follow. Thank you for your tutorial and easy, patient voice. I’m on my porch outside and getting ready to make some of these. I, too , have cancer and I make beanies for the other patients. Thank you so much. Most beanies are very feminine so I feel like the men don’t get many options ❤

For a three-year old, the beginning diameter is about 6 1/2 inches. You can measure the diameter of someone's head and then Google. The calculator for turning diameter to circumference and put in the number and it would give you the answer. I have toddler grandkids, I already knew the answer

I ended up using a 3 weight yarn with a 4.5 hook and it turned out great. A little small but it almost looks knitted, which I really like. It fits like a glove but I know from experience it’ll get loser in time, so I like them a bit tighter at first. Thanks for sharing the herringbone stitch, a new one to me.

I had so much fun learning this pattern. Mine came out small but I think the yarn I chose was a tighter blend and I tend to make tighter stitches, I'm going to try again and see if I can find the yarn you used. Are you able to post the written round instructions? Sometimes that's easier than stopping and starting video.

Hi OmiCrochet (and others who made this hat). I am working on making this hat with a weight 4 yarn and 5.5 mm hook, and my circle at the end of round 5 (first round with 55 stitches) looks like it could be smaller than the video. Maybe my gauge is different. Could you possibly provide the diameter of your circle at that point? Since the rest of the hat maintains the 55 stitches around, I think round 6 would be my chance to do one more increase round if my gauge is too small compared to the video.
Thanks...looking forward to finishing this! ☺️

Going to give this a try, would like to see the tutorial in a lighter colour yarn.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I might actually do that. Fingers crossed that it sometime soon! Thank you for watching! :)

How do you determine the size? I noticed in the comments that some were too small for them. How do you go about this in adjusting to a bigger or smaller head? Cause no head is the same.

you can measure your head circumference (measure above the ears i believe) , divide it by pi (3.14) and it will give you the crown width. you keep increase rounds until you get the size of your crown width.
