Good to see you back, very good work on the rolling frame, that new welder is working well, the welds on the frames are very good, Time i bought a new welder I think.

    Bit like a car factory.

Wonderfull, like the mobile rolling frame. Just one detail on 🦋the rear frame, because of the angle on the top connection point, you will need to raise or lower the front and rear of the car 🐝together, otherwise the that top connection point will touch and press on the car body. 🐞

You are correct. But the car is now 100% level and when raising or lowering it i can't think of a reason for not wanting to have it fully leveled out anyway. When designing the frames i wanted to make the rear a tunable point but i was scared the frame would tip over when rolling the car 😅😂

Very nice frame. A rotisserie might be better, but at least you can roll the body shell in and out. Mine has been sitting on four jack stands for the last year, so I'm a bit jealous. I suspect that the "dent" in front of the battery is supposed to be there to support a larger battery if needed. Mine has the same indentation, though I'm also using a small battery like you are. Look forward to the next step of your restoration soon.

A hydrolic leveling Rotisserie is great and super nice to have but it costs 1470,- and is also HUGE to store when i'm not using it. And my shop is just to small for that. 😅
I later found out that the battery dent is also on the other side so i might need to smack it back in there 😅🤷‍♂️

I just went out with a light and looked at mine - yes it also has a curious dent under the clutch master cylinder. I think it's to accommodate a larger battery on that side for the UK market. Odd but interesting.

Hello !!! Good work as usual... Rolling frames are great but why not use the front and the rear bumbers attaching points as mounting points instead of the suspension ones ??? It would give you alot more room to work under the car...

    • @RollinHeritage
      @RollinHeritage  5 місяців тому +1

It would, but it would set the frames up all the way in the front and back wich didn't feel right to me looking at the weight i'm putting on those mounts then.
But The main reason is that i'm making these frames to also use them for customer cars when they want ther front or rear axle rebuild. When using the original mounting points the bumpers, engine and everything else can stay in the car while the full subframe can be removed. I can then restore that subframe/rear axle on a workbench and the car will still be movable on those frames 🙂👍🏻

Nice work, from knocking out the dent near the battery box to the rolling frames. I must say you do a great job working in the confined space of a one-car sized garage. Building the mezzanine was a clever use of space. I might actually do that in my one-car shed. Thanks for making these vids.

Thanks! The mezzanine was already there when i started renting it but it's time for something bigger and finaly opening shop for customer cars. I've been wanting to do that for years now but shops are super expensive and hard to find here. So until i find something bigger this will have to do and i'll make it work 😁👍🏻

Do the paint yourself, what is difficult, important and elaborous is actually the pre-paint prep job that has to be 100% as every small screw up is going to show up in the paint, paint itself is actually "piece of cake", and you can also paint in sections, not a whole car at once, perhaps also an extra layer so you have enough thick paint layer to buff out etc, etc....

Painting the car myself was the main plan from the beginning. Offcourse i've done the primer parts myself and yes, the painting is not the worst part or the hardest.
But the thing most people forget is that you need paint guns, a good air compressor, very dry air, good ventilated space, no dust and the most important thing of all, no moisture in the air.
I'm working really hard to get all that as best as i can but i'm also thinking about priming , filling and sanding the car and let a professional do the final blue coats.
We'll see. First we need to get it primed and to do that it needs to be fully done from sanding.

@@RollinHeritage I've been painting car parts and a couple of cars summertime outside (as I couldn't do it inside) up to the latest paint 15- 20 years ago and the paint it still fine, standard priced paint too and no problems with it....once I painted a Porsche 356 fan house outside in - 5 C, very fast though with everything prepared in advance, and than I let it dry on the highest temperature inside my Saab that I used as an owen, and despite being it now at least 10 years ago it still holds without a problem....
